TIMING BELT Removal 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove upper fan shroud. Remove cooling fan assembly. Remove all accessory drive belts. 2. Remove fan pulley assembly. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt. Using Puller (J-8614-01) or equivalent, remove crankshaft pulley. Remove oil cooler hose from timing cover. Remove timing belt cover. Align all timing marks prior to belt removal. See Fig. 1 – Fig. 4 . Remove belt tensioner pusher and timing belt. Fig. 1: Aligning Timing Belt Sprockets (DOHC) Courtesy of ISUZU MOTOR CO. Installation 1. Ensure all timing marks are aligned. Install belt over one pulley at a time starting at crankshaft sprocket and working counterclockwise. Belt should go over tensioner last. Secure belt at each pulley during installation with pinch clips. See Fig. 5 . 2. Compress timing belt tensioner pusher and insert pin to retain pusher. Apply pressure to tensioner against belt, and install tensioner pusher. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . 3. Loosen tensioner pulley bolt. Apply pressure on belt by rotating tensioner. Tighten tensioner pulley bolt to specification.. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove pin from timing belt tensioner pusher. 4. Remove pinch clips from timing belt (if used). Install crankshaft pulley, tightening center bolt finger tight. Rotate crankshaft 2 turns clockwise. NOTE: Less than 80% of the coolant capacity can be recovered with the engine in the vehicle. Dirty, rusty or contaminated coolant requires replacement. 1. Release the pressure in the cooling system by slowly turning the pressure relief cap one half to one turn counterclockwise to the first stop on the filler neck. When the pressure has been released, remove the pressure relief cap. 2. Raise and support the vehicle, For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 . 3. Remove the lower radiator cover. 4. Place a suitable container below the radiator draincock. Drain the coolant. 5. Close the radiator draincock when finished. Filling and Bleeding with RADKITPLUS 1. Using the special tool, install the RADKITPLUS and follow the RADKITPLUS manufacturer’s instructions to fill and bleed the cooling system. Filling without RADKITPLUS CAUTION: Engine coolant provides freeze protection, boil protection, cooling efficiency and corrosion protection to the engine and cooling components. In order to obtain these protections, the engine coolant must be maintained at the correct concentration and fluid level. When adding engine coolant, use a 50/50 mixture of engine coolant and clean, drinkable water. To maintain the integrity of the coolant and the cooling system: * Add Motorcraft Premium Engine Coolant VC-4-A (in Oregon VC-5, in Canada CXC-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A. * Do not add Motorcraft Specialty Engine Coolant such as VC-2 or an equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D. Mixing coolants can degrade the coolant’s corrosion protection. * Do not add alcohol, methanol, or brine, or any engine coolants mixed with alcohol or methanol antifreeze. These can cause engine damage from overheating or freezing. * Do not mix with recycled coolants unless they meet the requirements of Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A or WSS-M97B51-A1. Not all coolant recycling processes meet these Ford specifications. Use of such coolants can harm the engine and cooling system components. All engines 1. Install the lower radiator cover.

SERVICE PROCEDURE Prior methods of cooler flushing have not obtained the level of cooler cleaning and contaminant removal that is required to prevent repeat repairs. The “Turbo-Tank Heated Cooler Line Flusher” uses heated Automatic Transmission Fluid ( ATF ) and a pulsating action to loosen system contamination. Previous equipment used solvents to clean & flush coolers, lines and torque- converters. There are 2 issues with this method: Aerosol Solvents should never be used for several reasons. NOTE YOU MUST IDENTIFY THE RETURN COOLER LINE TO START THE BACK FLUSHING PROCEDURE. A quick way to identify the return cooler line (fluid coming out of the cooler and returning to the transmission) is to locate the return cooler line fitting on the transmission case . Refer to the following lists: Rear Wheel Drive ^Residual solvent contamination can cause damage to friction bonding materials within the transmission (Clutches and Bands). ^Lack of fluid heating and agitation prevents this method from completely removing contamination from lines, in-radiator coolers and auxiliary coolers. ^They do not provide the volume necessary to remove heavy contaminants. ^They evaporate quickly and essentially leave contaminants in pockets, bends, or wherever they are as the solvent dries. ^TORQSHIFT, 4R100, E40D, C6 – The REAR transmission case filling receives the return line. ^4R70W, AODE, AOD – The TOP transmission case filling receives the return line. ^A4LD, 4R44/55E, 5R55E, 5R55N, 5R55W, 5R55S The TOP transmission case filling receives the return line. ^CD4E – The REAR or Pump End transaxle case fitting receives the return line. ^4F27E – The REAR or Cover End transaxle case fitting receives the return line. ^AXOD, AXODE, AX4S, AX4N, 4F50N – The BOTTOM transaxle cooler line fitting receives the return line. 1. Check and top off fluid level of the “Turbo-Tank Heated Cooler Line Flusher” tank with transmission fluid. 2. Allow the fluid in the flusher 15-30 minutes to heat up to 140°F (60°C) before using. 3. Install line adapters into the transmission cooler lines. 4. Attach the flusher’s blue line to the transmission return cooler line quick disconnect. 5. Attach the flusher’s red line to the transmission outlet cooler line quick disconnect. a. Follow equipment instructions, to purge cooler lines and cooler prior to starting flushing procedure (using factory installed purge valve and clear hose on “Turbo-Tank Heated Cooler Line Flusher”). 6. Allow the cooling system to back-flush for 10-15 minutes, then flush the cooler in a forward/normal flow direction for an additional 10-15 minutes

Draining and Filling Cooling System Notes Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining Procedure Important: Do NOT add any engine coolant supplement sealant pellets to the cooling system. Drain and refill the engine cooling system every 5 years or 240 000 km, (150,000 ml) , whichever occurs first. 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Remove and clean the coolant recovery reservoir. Caution: To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap its removed while the engine and radiator are still hot. 3.1. Slowly rotate the cap counterclockwise to the detention tab. Do not press down while rotating pressure cap. 3.2. Wait until any residual pressure, indicated by a hissing sound, is relieved. 3.3. After all hissing stops, press down on the radiator cap and rotate the cap counterclockwise in order to remove the cap. Important: Recover and store used coolant in a used coolant holding tank and submit the used coolant for recycling on a regular basis. Do NOT pour used coolant down the drain. Ethylene glycol antifreeze is very toxic. Disposing of ethylene glycol into the sewer system or ground water is both illegal and ecologically unsound. 4. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain cock in order to collect all of the used coolant. 5. Open the radiator drain cock. If only partial cooling system draining is required, drain enough coolant to perform the procedure 6. Open the air bleed valve on the thermostat housing 2 full turns. 7. Open the air bleed valve above coolant pump 2 full turns. 8. Place a drain pan under the engine block drains in order to collect the used coolant. Important: Allow the coolant to drain completely

Service and Repair Notes Removal Important: Thorough cleanliness must be observed during all work on drive shafts and drive shaft joints, to prevent dirt and dust getting into the joints. Before starting work, always clean the wheel arch, MacPherson strut and other areas around the drive shaft and joints. 1Unfasten the hub centre-nut. 2Lift the car and remove the wheel. 3Remove the hub centre-nut. Push the axle stub back approx. 2 cm (if it pushed further back it can damage the tripod). Use puller 87 91 287 and puller arms 87 91 303 together with tool 87 91 154, puller bracket, the belongs to tool collection for manual gear boxes. 4Remove the steering-swivel member from the MacPherson strut and unfasten the flexible hose from the hose mounting and, if appropriate, also unfasten the ABS sensor and cable. Important: Scrupulously clean the rubber gaiter and the universal joint driver. 5Remove the clamp securing the rubber gaiter on the inner universal joint driver. Pull the universal joint apart and fit the protective cover on the rubber gaiter and universal joint driver. 6Pull out the drive shaft from the hub. Fitting 1Remove existing grease out of the universal joint driver and carefully clean the interior. 2 Pack the universal joint driver with grease, 60 g Mobile K 575 GS. Observe great cleanliness.
