Service Repair No – 12.65.18 Remove 1. Disconnect battery earth lead. 2. Remove ancillary drive belt . 3. Remove RH front road wheel. 4. Remove 3 bolts securing RH splash shield to body and remove shield. 5. Remove 3 bolts securing camshaft timing belt LH rear cover and remove cover. 6. Rotate crankshaft in a clockwise direction and align the engine “SAFE” position, notch on crankshaft pulley aligned to the “ARROW” on front mounting plate and the timing marks aligned on the rear camshaft gears as illustrated 7. Remove bolt securing PAS pipe to engine front mounting plate. 8. Remove 3 Torx screws securing PAS pump pulley and remove pulley. Zoom Sized for Print Zoom Sized for Print Zoom Sized for Print 9. Remove 3 bolts securing PAS pump to front mounting plate and tie pump aside. 10. Release alternator battery lead terminal cover, loosen terminal nut and disconnect lead from terminal. 11. Disconnect multiplug from alternator. 12. Remove lower bolt and upper nut and bolt securing alternator to front mounting plate. 13. Remove alternator. 14. Remove Torx screw securing idler pulley to front mounting plate and remove pulley 15. Loosen bolt securing lower engine steady to front subframe. 16. Remove bolt securing lower engine steady to sump mounting, release lower engine steady from sump mounting. 17. Remove 3 bolts securing camshaft timing belt RH front cover and remove cover 18. Remove 3 bolts securing camshaft timing belt LH front cover and remove cover. 19. Assemble LRT-12-161 to LRT-12-199 and secure with clamp bolt. 20. Insert LRT-12-161 with LRT-12-199 into crankshaft pulley, loosen and remove pulley bolt. 21. Remove special tool from crankshaft pulley and remove crankshaft pulley. 22. Remove 3 bolts securing camshaft timing belt lower cover to cylinder block and remove cover. 23. Remove 2 bolts securing ancillary drive belt tensioner and remove tensioner. 24. Note fitted position of heat shield on A/C compressor and remove 3 bolts securing A/C compressor to front mounting plate and cylinder block. Release A/C compressor and heat shield and position aside. 25. Drain engine oil.

1998 – 2000 MODELS 1. Inspect main ground points (refer to SB99*04*S001 for more information). * P6 ground point-body [on the passenger side of engine compartment, between the battery and cruise control actuator (if equipped)]. (Figure Fig. 1 ) * P10 ground point-engine (at the alternator bracket) . (Figure Fig. 2 ) Isuzu: 1998 – 2000 Rodeo AFFECTED VEHICLES:1998 – 2000 Rodeo (UE)/Amigo (UA) models with 3.2L V6 engines NOTE: Please refer to the appropriate workshop manual for the correct diagnosing procedure and/or follow the service procedures outlined in this bulletin for the vehicle being serviced. NOTE: The 1998, 1999 or 2000 Rodeo/Amigo Electrical Troubleshooting Manual can assist in locating the vehicle ground distribution (i.e., ground contact points). * Perform a voltage drop test at the main ground points. * If the voltage drop test fails, then inspect and clean both the bolt and contact point. * Verify and correct idle settings (if needed) as described in the workshop manual. * If the repair procedure on this step solves the high idle condition, then return the vehicle to the customer. If the repair procedure on this step does not solve the high idle condition, then go to step 2 (16 pin Blue Connector). B. Remove P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt for ground contact inspection. * Inspect ground contact area for corrosion. * Inspect bolt and thread for damage or corrosion. * Clean the ground area and fastening bolt thoroughly with a wire brush. * Replace bolt if damaged or heavily corroded. C. Install the P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt (tighten using hand tools only). * Torque the P-6/P-10 ground terminal bolt to (14 N.m) 10 lb.ft. 1998 – 1999 MODELS ONLY 2. Inspect the 16 pin blue connector, located under the power steering fluid reservoir for corrosion, bent, or damaged pins (specifically for the Throttle Position Sensor). (Figure Fig. 3 )

1. Locate and identify the three vacuum ports on the intake manifold. 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to page 11-113 of the 1998-00 Accord Service Manual. 5. Install the new vacuum hose kit using one of the following procedures 1. Remove and discard the cap from vacuum port A. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose to vacuum port A M/T WITH CRUISE CONTROL 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to page 11-113 of the 1998-00 Accord Service Manual. 5. Install the new vacuum hose kit using one of the following procedures. Zoom Sized for Print 1. Remove and discard the cap from vacuum port A. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose to vacuum port A. Zoom Sized for Print 3. Anchor the long vacuum hose by attaching it to the rear intake air duct clip and to the cruise control hose. . Route the new vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. Attach the hose to the three rear clips on the engine wire harness cover. Zoom Sized for Print 1. Remove and discard the vacuum hose from vacuum port A. This hose supplies vacuum to the rear engine mount control solenoid. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose from the top of the Y fitting to vacuum port A

STEP1. Begin by removing four (4) knobs on the climate control levers by grasping knobs and pulling toward you to slide the knobs off. NOTE: On 1998 models there are two (2) sliderand two (2) dial type knobs. Grasp knobs and pull toward you to remove. Set knobs aside. Insert hook tool behind face plate on climate control panel in the top left corner. Carefully pull toward you to release clip. Repeat on remaining three (3) corners to release corner clips. Set aside. Remove radio trim bezel. STEP2. Locate and remove two (2) Phillips screws [one (1) on right and one (1) on left of the climate control unit] that hold the radio trim bezel in place. Set screws aside. Insert the hook tool between the bezel and dash in the upper right hand corner above the air vent. Pull toward you to release corner clip. Do the same in the upper left corner. Grasp the bezel and work loose the remaining clips. Push the bezel to the left side just enough to get at the top right screw that holds the radio in place. Remove this screw with your #2 Phillips screwdriver. Set screw aside. STEP3. Attach the phone holder onto the Pro.Fit VSMTM . Insert screw in top hole of Pro.Fit VSMTM . Align Pro.Fit VSMTM with screw hole above centering pin and insert and tighten factory screw. Re-assemble dash in reverse order securing all screws and clips. This completes the installation

Condition Some owners may comment on incorrect fuel gauge readings. The fuel gauge may read empty (E) with approximately 1/3 of a tank of fuel remaining, or the fuel gauge rarely reaches the full (F) mark when the fuel tank is filled. Correction Reprogram the vehicle control module (VCM) with the revised Fuel System Calibration. Use the appropriate calibration listed below. Refer to the latest Techline information for programming procedures. Calibration Information Important: These calibrations are not available from GMSPO. Step 1. Windshield Slot. Center Windshield slot (Item 1) from side to side on top of windshield frame. Mark and drill 1/8″ holes using windshield slot as a template. Secure with #10 x 1/2″ sheet metal screws (Item 2) through windshield slot, fender washer (Item 3) and into windshield frame. See figure 2. Step 2. Horizontal Rod Bracket. Place holes in horizontal rod bracket (Item 4) over holes on inside corner of windshield frame. Secure with M6 x 12MM bolt (Item 5) through #12 flat washers (Item 6), horizontal rod bracket and into threaded holed in windshield frame. See figure 3. Figure 3 Step 3. Vertical Rod Bracket. Locate holes for vertical rod bracket (Item 7) by placing on top of door post and aligning with top edges of door post. Mark and drill 5/32″ holes using vertical rod bracket as a template. Secure with #14 x 1/2″ sheet metal screws (Item 8) through vertical rod bracket and into drilled holes. See figure 4. Step 4. Belt Rails And Corner Plate. Place belt rail (Item 10) up against rise in body behind the door opening. Secure belt rail to top of body with M6 x 1 x 35 MM hex head bolt (Item 9) through #12 flat washer (Item 6), belt rail 5/8″ spacer tube (Item 11) and into existing threaded hole on body. Butt rear corner plate (Item 12) to end of belt rail. Place a M6 x 1 x 35MM hex head bolt through #12 flat washer, corner plate, 5/8″ spacer tube and into existing hole closest to the tailgate. Do not tighten at this time. Using the corner plate as a template mark and drill 5/32″ holes for remaining mounting holes in corner plate making sure that corner plate is parallel with body and in line with belt rail. Secure with #14 x 1 “sheet metal screws (Item 13). Tighten all fasteners, except the bolt closest to tailgate, at this time. See figure 5. Drill 1/8″ holes in corner plate using tailgate clip (Item 14) as a template making sure that tailgate clip is parallel with corner plate. Secure tailgate clip to corner plate with #10 x 1/2 sheet metal screws (Item 2) and M6 x 35MM hex head bolt through slot in tailgate clip. Place footman loop (Item 15) at a 45 degree angle on top of corner plate. Using footman loop as a template mark and drill 1/8″ holes in the corner plate. Secure footman loop to top of corner plate with #8 x 1/2 “oval head sheet metal screws (Item 16). See figure 5. Step 5. Bow Mount Mark a line on top of belt rail 17 1/4″ from rear of door post. Place the end of bow mount (Item 17) on this fine flush with the inside edge of belt rail. Using outside set of holes in bow mount as a template, drill 5/32″ holes in belt rail. Secure bow mount to body using #14 x 1/2″ sheet metal screws (Item 8) through holes in bow mount. Repeat for the other side. See figure 6.

Manual A/C REMOVAL PROCEDURE CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the right side instrument panel sound insulator. 3. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment. 4. Disconnect the passenger side SIR. 5. Remove the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt. 6. Remove the left and right front speaker grilles. 7. Remove the center instrument panel sound insulator. 8. Remove the left side instrument panel sound insulator. 9. Disconnect the park brake release cable. 10. Remove the knee bolster. 11. Remove the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt. 12. Remove the BCM. 13. Disconnect the driver side SIR. 14. Remove the instrument panel cluster. 15. Remove the radio. 16. Remove the HVAC control assembly. 17. Remove the steering column retaining retaining nuts. 18. Lower the steering column. 19. Remove the instrument panel carrier. 20. Remove the left and right cowl vent grille panels. 21. Disconnect the underhood lamp electrical connector, if equipped. 22. Remove the hood. 23. Remove the VCM. 24. Remove the coolant recovery tank. 25. Remove the heater hoses. 26. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the grille mounted lamps. 27. Remove the right front headlamp assembly. 28. Remove the front bumper. 29. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. 30. Disconnect the radio antenna cable. 31. Disconnect the electrical connector for the horn. 32. Remove the right fender. 33. Remove the evaporator case heat shield, if equipped. 34. Remove the blower motor resistor. 35. Remove the evaporator case bolts and screws. 36. Remove the accumulator. 37. Remove the condenser to the evaporator line fitting. 38. Remove the bolts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead. 39. Pull back lightly on the heater case to remove the evaporator case. 40. Remove the evaporator case retaining screws. 41. Disassemble the evaporator case sections, and remove the evaporator core. NOTE: If replacing the evaporator core, remove the expansion (orofice) tube and install it into the new core. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the evaporator core. 2. Assemble the evaporator case sections. 3. Install the evaporator case retaining screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 in lb) . 4. Install the evaporator core assembly to the vehicle. 5. Install the bolts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead. Tighten the bolts to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in) . 6. Install the condenser to the evaporator line fitting. 7. Install the accumulator. 1998 Chevy Truck S10/T10 Blazer 2WD 8. Install the evaporator case bolts and screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 In in) . 9. Install the blower motor resistor. 10. Install the evaporator case heat shield, if equipped. 11. Install the right fender. 12. Connect the electrical connector for the horn. 13. Install the radio antenna cable. 14. Install the right wheelhouse panel. 15. Install the front bumper. 16. Install the right front headlamp assembly. 17. Connect the electrical connectors to the grille mounted lamps. 18. Install the heater hoses. 19. Install the coolant recovery tank. 20. Install the VCM. 21. Install the hood. 22. Connect the underhood lamp electrical connector, if equipped. 23. Install the left and right cowl vent grille panels. 24. Install the instrument panel carrier. 25. Reposition the the steering column, and install the steering column retaining nuts. 26. Install the HVAC control assembly. 27. Install the radio. 28. Install the instrument panel cluster. 29. Connect the driver side SIR. 30. Install the BCM. 31. Install the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt. 32. Install the knee bolster. 33. Connect the park brake release cable. 34. Install the left side instrument panel sound insulator. 35. Install the center instrument panel sound insulator. 36. Install the left and right front speaker grilles. 37. Install the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt. 38. Connect the passenger side SIR. 39. Install the instrument panel storage compartment. 40. Install the right side instrument panel sound insulator. 41. Connect the negative battery cable. 42. Inspect the system for leaks.

Removal Procedure 1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. 2. Remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement- Front. 3. Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement-Rear. 4. Remove the vent hose from the transfer case. 5. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connectors. 6. Remove the electrical connectors from the transfer case motor/encoder. 9. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the bolt securing the left side support brace to the transmission. 10. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the bolt and stud securing the left side support brace to the transfer case 11. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the two bolts securing the right side support brace to the transmission and transfer case. 12. For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, remove the six nuts securing the transfer case and bracket to the transmission 13. Remove the transfer case. * Start by pulling the transfer case straight back from the transmission. * After the transfer case is pulled out from the transmission turn and lower the transfer case. 14. For vehicles equipped with a automatic transmission, remove the six nuts securing the transfer case and bracket to the transmission adapter. 15. Remove the transfer case. * Start by pulling the transfer case straight back from the transmission. * After the transfer case is pulled out from the transmission turn and lower the transfer case. 16. Remove and discard the gasket. Installation Procedure 1. Install a new gasket to the transmission. Use sealer GM P/N 12346004 in order to hold the gasket in place. 2. Raise and position the transfer case to the vehicle Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 3. For vehicles equipped with a automatic transmission, install the six nuts securing the transfer case and bracket to the transmission adapter. * Tighten the nuts to 47 Nm (35 lb ft) . 4. For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, install the six nuts securing the transfer case and bracket to the transmission. * Tighten the nuts to 47 Nm (35 lb ft)
