Test Description The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table. 2. This step checks to see if the correct VIN is programmed in the powertrain control module (PCM). 4. This step checks to see if the body control module (BCM) has been replaced. 5. This step explains the proper steps to perform after a BCM has been replaced in order for the <- Back Forward -> Document ID# 385021 1999 Buick Regal Print BCM to operate properly. 6. This step checks to see if the correct VIN is programmed in the BCM. 7. This step explains how to properly program the VIN into the BCM. DTC B1001 Option Configuration Error Step Action Value (s) Yes No 1 Was the SIR Diagnostic System Check performed? — Go to Step 2 Go to SIR Diagnostic System Check 2 1. Install the scan tool. 2. Use the scan tool to verify that the PCM is programmed with the correct VIN by comparing the VIN that is stored in the PCM to the VIN plate of the vehicle. Is the PCM programmed with the correct VIN? — Go to Step 4 Go to Step 3 3 Use the scan tool and/or the techline machine to program the correct VIN into the PCM. Is the programming procedure complete? — Go to Step 9 — 4 Was the BCM replaced? — Go to Step 5 Go to Step 6 5 1. Use the F2 function key and follow the instructions on the scan tool under the BCM SPECIAL FUNCTIONS to reprogram the BCM. Use the F6 function key and follow the instructions on the scan tool under the BCM SPECIAL FUNCTIONS to program the correct VIN into the BCM. 3. Use the techline machine to perform the theft relearn procedures for the replacement BCM. DESCRIPTION: Kit contains a replacement outlet elbow to downpipe gasket as is used in Edelbrock Turbo Kits #1500, 1501, 1502, 1503, and 1504, for use when removing and replacing the downpipe for exhaust maintenence, engine maintenence, etc. INSTALLATION 1. Remove the down-pipe in the reverse order of installation as shown in your Edelbrock Turbo Kit instructions. 2. Make sure all gasket mating surfaces are clean and free of grease or oil, and make sure any old gasket material has been removed before installing the new gaskets. 3. Install the new gasket and install the down-pipe as shown in your Edelbrock Turbo Kit instructions

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES: Pg 1 222-05X Figure 1 PARTS LIST: 2 ea Footman Loops 4 ea #8 x 1//2 Sheet Metal Screws 3 ea Sheet Metal Screw Studs STEP 1. You will need a slot and channel for installation of this roll bar top. If so equipped disregard this step. If not equipped you will need to order part #222-9340 for snap style tops or part #222-9440 for Fast Trac style tops. Place slot on top of windshield frame next to vertical flange and centered from side to side. Mark and drill 1/8″ holes using slot as a guide. Secure to windshield frame with #10 x 1/2″ sheet metal screws through slot, washers and into windshield frame. See figure 1. CARE INSTRUCTIONS Convertible tops require special care if you want to get the maximum usage and enjoyment from them. The following recommendations, if followed carefully, can extend the life of your top. 1. Hand wash using a mild non-detergent soap such as Ivory. Use a nonabrasive cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly. 2. DO NOT wash in direct sunlight and avoid automatic car washes. 3. When your top is clean, we recommend using “303 Protectant” on both the vinyl top and windows. This product contains a sunscreen that helps protect from the sun’s damaging rays. 4. When top is not in use place in storage bag provided. Pg 2 222-05X Figure 2 Figure 3 STEP 2. Slide sewn in rope in roll bar top, into channel with the vinyl side down. Place channel into gap between slot and windshield frame. Flip top over roll bar. See figure 2. STEP 3. Place footman loop at rear corners of vehicle. Using footman loop as a template mark and drill 1/8″ holes. Secure to body with #8 x 1/2″ sheet metal screws. Thread sewn in buckle straps through footman loops and tighten. See figure 3 STEP 4. Pull forward and down on straps at front corners of top. Mark hole locations for sheet metal screw studs on windshield frame using snaps on vinyl top as a guide. Drill 1/8″ holes. Install sheet metal screw studs and snap top to studs. See figure 2. 1. Disconnect negative battery cable from jumper terminal. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel. Remove accessory drive belt splash shield from right wheelwell. 2. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove right engine support assembly vertical bolts from bottom side of frame rail (timing belt end of engine). 3. Lower vehicle. Place floor jack under vehicle to support weight of engine and transaxle assembly. Remove 3 bolts attaching engine support assembly to engine block bracket. 4. Move the A/C drier aside with hoses attached. Remove coolant reservoir tank. Remove right engine support assembly. Remove 3 bolts attaching engine support bracket to engine block, and remove bracket. 5. Remove crankshaft vibration damper. Remove power steering pump (hoses attached) and bracket from engine block. Remove timing belt covers. 6. Rotate crankshaft to align camshaft and crankshaft timing marks. 7. If reusing old timing belt, mark timing belt direction of rotation for installation reference. Loosen timing belt automatic tensioner bolts. Remove timing belt. Remove automatic tensioner. Installation 2.5L VIN H (Cirrus, Sebring Convertible & Stratus) 1. Place automatic tensioner into vise, and SLOWLY compress plunger. When plunger is compressed into tensioner body, install locking pin through body and plunger holes to retain plunger until tensioner is installed. See Fig. 13 . 2. Index tensioner in vise the same direction as installed. This will ensure proper pin orientation when tensioner is installed in engine.

Battery Replacement Notes WARNING: TO PROTECT THE HANDS FROM BATTERY ACID, A SUITABLE PAIR OF HEAVY DUTY RUBBER GLOVES, NOT THE HOUSEHOLD TYPE, SHOULD BE WORN WHEN REMOVING OR SERVICING A BATTERY. SAFETY GLASSES ALSO SHOULD BE WORN . REMOVAL 1. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. 2. Verify that the ignition switch and all accessories are OFF. 3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post. 4. Remove air cleaner housing. 5. Remove battery splash shield. 6. Remove two short bolts to battery hold down. 7. Slide battery rearward to disconnect the negative and positive battery terminals from battery. 8. Slide battery toward rear of vehicle and lift out through wheel well opening. 9. Remove battery from vehicle. 1. Tighten clamp nuts to 8.5 N.m (75 in. lbs.) torque.INSTALLATION For installation, reverse the above procedures. Inspect and clean battery and attaching components before installation.
