ADJUSTMENTS WINDOWS Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Loosen bolts holding window to regulator. Raise window fully, seating window in frame. Tighten bolts. Install door trim panel. TROUBLE SHOOTING POWER WINDOWS On Dakota, inspect circuit breaker No. 20 (20-amp) in junction block. On Durango inspect circuit breaker No. 21 (25-amp) in junction block. On all models, junction block is located on left end of instrument panel. Inspect fuse No. 9 (40-amp on Dakota, 50-amp on Durango) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in left front corner of engine compartment. Inspect power window system ground circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . SYSTEM TESTS ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE Dakota 1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver’s front power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) at driver power window switch wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between driver power window 2000 Dodge Durango 2000 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT’ ‘Power Windows – Dakota & Durango 2000 Dodge Durango 2000 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT’ ‘Power Windows – Dakota & Durango switch connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 3. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Tan wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, check driver power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Tan wire between driver power window switch connector and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Durango 1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver’s front power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 3. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between driver’s power window switch connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 4. Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, check driver’s power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Tan wire between driver power window switch connector and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . PROBLEM The IMA system indicator comes on and IMA DTC 77 (P1447) (battery module deterioration) or DTC 78 (P1449) (battery module deterioration) is set. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the battery module. If needed, replace the motor control module (MCM), the battery condition monitor (BCM), or both INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0). 2. Remove the cargo floor mat (see page 20-44 of the 2000-04 Insight Service Manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword FLOOR MAT , and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation – Cargo Area from the list.) 3. Remove the battery module switch cover (two bolts), then remove the locking cover from the switch. 4. Flip the battery module switch to OFF . Reinstall the locking cover. 5. Wait at least 5 minutes to let the capacitors in the system discharge. 6. Remove the right trunk shelf support (five clips and two bolts). 7. Remove the six mid-frame cover bolts. Remove the intelligent power unit (IPU) lid (17 bolts). 8. Measure the voltage at the junction board terminals. There should be 30 V or less . If you read more than 30 V , there is a problem in the circuit; do the DTC troubleshooting first. SWITCH COVER LOCKING COVER BOLTS LOCKING COVER BATTERY MODULE SWITCH IPU LID RIGHT TRUNK SHELF SUPPORT BOLTS (17) CLIPS CLIPS BOLTS ON JUNCTION BOARD TERMINALS REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Remove the battery module from the vehicle (see page 12-113 of the service manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword BAT MOD , and select Battery Module Removal/Installation from the list.) 2. Remove the lifting tool from the battery module. 3. Remove the mounting bolts for the MCM and the BCM (eight total). Unplug the electrical connectors (five for the MCM and three for the BCM), then remove the modules. 4. Install the MCM and the BCM in the new battery module. Use the original MCM and BCM if no replacement was needed; otherwise, use the appropriate replacement parts. Torque the mounting bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 5. Install the lifting tool on the battery module. 6. With someone to help you, carefully lift the battery module into the vehicle, and set it down into position. Remove the lifting tool. 7. Plug in the connectors, and install the Y condenser harness. Then install the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 24 N·m (17 lb-ft) . 8. Install the battery module air duct. Torque the bolt to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 9. Connect the high voltage cables to the junction board. Torque the bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 10. Install the front and rear IPU braces and the mid- frame. Torque the bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . OIL PAN(A4 & A6) Removal (Lower Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. 2. Remove engine noise insulator (undercover). See Fig. 12 . Drain engine oil. 3. Unbolt left and right swaybar stabilizer bracket bolts (4) from mounting bracket. See Fig. 98 . Lower swaybar stabilizer not more than 10cm (3.94 INCHES) and secure with heavy wire. 4. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, unbolt oil cooler pipe (line) bracket from right side oil pan. 5. Remove lower oil pan. To install oil pan (lower), see INSTALLATION (LOWER OIL PAN- A4 & A6) . Installation (Lower Oil Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Ensure oil pan surfaces are clean and dry. Remove residual sealant from oil pan, if necessary, with hand drill and plastic brush instead of a flat scrapper. See Fig. 99 . Install gasket. 2. Install 2 bolts diagonal to each other (to hold up pan). Install the rest of the bolts and hand tighten. 3. Starting at center and moving outward, tighten lower oil pan to upper oil pan bolts to 10 N.m (89 INCH lbs.). Tighten oil pan drain plug 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.). Wait 30 minutes before filling with engine oil. Tighten all bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . 4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING . Removal (Upper Oil Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove oil dipstick. Unbolt oil dipstick tube at front of cylinder head. Remove oil dipstick tube. 2. Remove engine noise insulator (undercover). See Fig. 12 . Drain engine oil. 3. Move lock carrier into service position. See LOCK CARRIER . This will allow servicing of front engine components and facilitate removal of oil pan. 4. Open coolant expansion tank cap, drain cooling system at radiator. Open the coolant pump bearing housing drain plug. Located at bottom of block near transmission bell housing, drivers side of vehicle. See Fig. 32 – Fig. 33 . If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, unbolt oil cooler pipe (line) CAUTION: Wear eye protection NOTE: Obtain radio code before disconnecting battery. For help in identifying components and component locations, refer to illustrations Fig. 108 -Fig. 109 . NOTE: If engine is out of car, ensure oil pan is aligned with cylinder block on flywheel side. 2000 Audi A6 1998-02 ENGINES’ ’2.8L V6 30-Valve 2000 Audi A6 1998-02 ENGINES’ ’2.8L V6 30-Valve bracket from right side oil pan. 5. Position Engine Support (10-222A) with (10-222A/3) engine support adapter, or equivalent, on bolted flanges of fenders. Connect support bracket to front and rear engine lifting eyes. Lift up engine as far as possible. DO NOT use excessive force to raise engine. 6. Cut tie wraps and open bracket supporting starter wiring. See Fig. 97 . Disconnect electrical connection at starter.
