Inspect main ground points (refer to SB99*04*S001 for more information). * P6 ground point-body [on the passenger side of engine compartment, between the battery and cruise control actuator (if equipped)]. NOTE: The 1998, 1999 or 2000 Rodeo/Amigo Electrical Troubleshooting Manual can assist in locating the vehicle ground distribution (i.e., ground contact points). * Perform a voltage drop test at the main ground points. * If the voltage drop test fails, then inspect and clean both the bolt and contact point. * Verify and correct idle settings (if needed) as described in the workshop manual. * If the repair procedure on this step solves the high idle condition, then return the vehicle to the customer. If the repair procedure on this step does not solve the high idle condition, then go to step 2 (16 pin Blue Connector). B. Remove P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt for ground contact inspection. * Inspect ground contact area for corrosion. * Inspect bolt and thread for damage or corrosion. * Clean the ground area and fastening bolt thoroughly with a wire brush. * Replace bolt if damaged or heavily corroded. C. Install the P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt (tighten using hand tools only). * Torque the P-6/P-10 ground terminal bolt to (14 N.m) 10 lb.ft. 1998 – 1999 MODELS ONLY 2. ISSUE Some 2003-2006 Expedition and Navigator vehicles equipped with an air suspension may exhibit an air suspension height sensor linkage arm disengaging from the suspension ball stud or height sensor rotating arm. This concern typically occurs with the rear sensor (Figure 1) but may occur with the front sensors as well. If this occurs, the symptom will typically be the vehicle leaning to one side, the vehicle sitting too low/high, a harsh ride, and/or an inoperative air suspension. In addition, this concern may result in diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1725 (air suspension front pneumatic failure) or C1726 (air suspension rear pneumatic failure). ACTION When a linkage arm becomes disengaged, do not re-attach the arm and do not replace the sensor unless broken. Instead, install a revised linkage arm on all three (3) sensor assemblies, even if they have not detached from the ball stud. 1. Replace linkage arms on all three (3) sensor assemblies following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-05. 2. Discard the old linkage arms. NOTE IF THE SENSOR ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR ANY DAMAGE/FAILURE OTHER THAN THE ONE DESCRIBED IN THIS TSB, THE REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY IS SUPPLIED WITH A NEW STYLE LINKAGE ARM, SO THERE IS NO NEED TO ORDER ADDITIONAL LINKAGES FOR THE SERVICE REPAIR. 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. 2. Remove lock cylinder bezel from steering column shroud by carefully prying with a thin bladed screwdriver. 3. Remove shroud fasteners and remove steering column upper and lower shroud panels. 4. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and rotate to RUN position If ignition lock cylinder can be rotated to RUN position, continue to step 30. ^If ignition lock cylinder cannot be rotated to RUN position, continue with next step. 5. Using a light hammer and brass drift, tap lightly on the top side of the ignition housing assembly at the location indicated in the illustration, while trying to turn the ignition key. ^If the ignition key turns, proceed to step 30. ^If the ignition key does not turn replace the ignition module/passlock sensor by continuing with next step. 6.
