1 Unclip and remove the (4) side trim panels from the right and left side of the radio and a/c controls. ( Figure A) 2 Unclip and remove the a/c vent panel above the factory radio. (Figure B) 3 Remove (4) 10 MM bolts securing the radio. (Figure C) 4 Remove (4) plastic clips from the back of the factory radio. (Retain the clips for re-use during kit assembly.) 5 Continue to kit assembly . A B C 99-8223 KIT ASSEMBLY 2 A B C D DIN RADIO WITH POCKET PROVISION Slide the Radio Housing Brackets onto the sides of the Radio Housing until the side clips engage. NOTE: Tabs are marked Left and Right. (Figure B) 2 Slide the DIN cage into the Radio Housing and secure by bending the metal locking tabs outward. (Figure C) 3 Slide the aftermarket radio into the cage until it snaps into place. (Figure D) 4 Attach the clips removed from the factory radio to the back of the radio housing trim plate. REMOVAL (1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. (2) Remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel. Refer to Cluster Bezel in the Removal and Installation section of Group 8E-Instrument Panel Systems for the procedures. (3) Remove the two screws that secure the radio receiver to the instrument panel (Fig. 4). (4) Pull the radio receiver out from the instrument panel far enough to access the instrument panel wire harness connectors and the antenna coaxial cable connector (Fig. 5). (5) Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connectors and the antenna coaxial cable connector from the receptacles on the rear of the radio receiver. (6) Remove the radio receiver from the instrument panel. REMOTE RADIO SWITCH WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR- BAGS, REFER TO GROUP 8M-PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIR- BAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY. REMOVAL (1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. (2) Remove the driver sideairbagmodule from the steering wheel. Refer to Driver Side Airbag Module in the Removal and Installation section of Group 8M-Passive Restraint Systems for the procedures. (3) Remove the speed control switch located on the same side of the steering wheel as the remote radio switch that is being serviced. (4) Disconnect the steering wheel wire harness connector from the connector receptacle of the remote radio switch (Fig. 6). 1. Verify that the power steering pump reservoir is full. 2. Verify that the accessory drive belt is in good condition and that the pulleys are not bent or damaged. 3. Verify proper belt tension and operation of the belt tensioner. 4. Check for power steering hose ground out conditions. 5. Check for good engine idle and correct engine RPM. 6. Check to see that the rear transaxle mount does not have a plastic assembly aid installed which is used Subject: Steering Vibration/Shudder/Moan During Parking Maneuvers on Dry Pavement (Install Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) and/or Return (Outlet) Hose Assembly) Models: 1995-99 Buick Riviera 1997-2001 Buick Park Avenue, Ultra 2000-2001 Buick LeSabre 2000-2001 Pontiac Bonneville • 1995-98 Buick Riviera • 1997-98 Buick Park Avenue and Ultra • 1999 Buick Riviera • 1999-2001 Buick Park Avenue and Ultra • 2000-2001 Buick LeSabre • 2000-2001 Pontiac Bonneville • If fluid level is low, fill and check for leaks. • If power steering system has air in the system, perform the “Bleeding Air from Power Steering System” procedure as described in the Power Steering System sub-section of the Service Manual. Important: When performing the “Bleeding Air from Power Steering System” procedure, it is important that the front of the vehicle is supported by the lower control arms. If the vehicle is not supported by the lower control arms, the procedure may cause the strut bushing to dislocate and cause new concern. for assembly purposes. If the assembly aid is installed, remove the assembly aid and install the rear transaxle mount. 7. With the vehicle on dry pavement, maneuver the vehicle in parking positions. If the steering vibrates/shudders or moans in this test, replace the power steering pressure hose and/or the harmonic balancer. Important: A defective harmonic balancer on the 1995 Buick Riviera can influence steering vibrations after power steering hose installation. Important: When installing the pressure hose on the 1995 Buick Riviera, pull down on the pressure hose at the rear of the engine or bend the hose to allow clearance between the hose and the front of the dash. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1995-1998 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System in the Power Steering section of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump assembly (4). 5. Remove the bolt/screws from the retaining clips (3). 6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear assembly (2). 7. Remove the power steering pressure hose assembly from the vehicle. 8. Install the power steering pressure hose assembly to the vehicle. 9. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump assembly (4). 10. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear assembly (2). Tighten Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft). 11. Install the bolt/screws to the retaining clips (3). Tighten Tighten the retaining clip bolt/screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in). 12. Install the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 13. Lower the vehicle. 14. Fill and bleed the power steering system using, J 43485. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 83-32-09, dated November, 1998. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) and Return (Outlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1999-2001 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. 2001 Toyota Highlander Sport Utility PRELIMINARY: Disconnect the negative battery cable. ANTENNA: The factory antenna is located atop the right front fender panel. RADIO REMOVAL AND IN-DASH INSTALLATION: Note: The factory radio provision is for a Double ISO/DIN style radio. An installation kit is required when installing an aftermarket stereo. 1. Using panel removal tool carefully pry off radio bezel. 2. Extract (6) 10 mm bolts securing radio and climate controls in dash, disconnect and remove. 3. Extract (8) Iso screws securing radio to bracket. 4. Extract (2) Philips screws securing bracket to bezel, pull away and remove radio. FRONT DOOR SPEAKER INSTALLATION: Note: The factory speaker provision is for a 1 ½” tweeter and a 6 ½” 3-Hole speaker mounted to a factory speaker adapter. 1. Remove screw cover from door opener cup and exract (1) Philips head screw, pry bezel out then forward to remove. 2. Remove inside mirror cover. 3. Toyota Venza 2009-2010 1 D isconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 1 Unclip and remove the trim panel to the right of the shifter. ( Figure A) 2 Remove (1) Phillips screw from the bottom of the climate control then unclip and remove the climate control. (Figure B) 3 Remove (4)10 MM bolts securing the radio. Note: You will need a universal swivel head socket adapter to get to the bottom left bolt. (Figure C) 4 Remove (4) Phillips screws securing the factory radio to the a/c vent panel. ( Figure D) 5 A B C REAR VIEW-RADIO AND A/CVENT PANEL RADIO D Continue to kit assembly . 99-8225G KIT ASSEMBLY 2 REAR VIEW-A/C VENT PANEL A B C D Secure the Radio Housing into the factory a/c vent panel using the factory hardware. (Figure A) 1 Slide the DIN cage into the Radio Housing and secure by bending the metal locking tabs down. (Figure B) 3 Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter from Metra or AXXESS. Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the unit for proper operation. 2 Slide the aftermarket head unit into the cage and secure. (Figure C) 4 * Note: Refer also to the instructions included with the aftermarket radio. DIN HEAD UNIT PROVISION WITH POCKET Reassemble remaining radio and dash assemblies in reverse order of disassembly. 5 6 Snap the factory vent panel/Radio Housing over dash cavity. The radio is secured to the frame of the vehicles dash with screws located behind the plastic dash panel surrounding the radio. This plastic dash panel unsnaps from the body of the vehicles dash. STEP 2 : The bottom of the plastic dash panel, just below the bottom of the radio, can be lifted up. Look up from the below the radio and you will notice rectangular openings or insertion points where a flat tool can be inserted to pry out the bottom of the plastic dash panel. With a flat head screwdriver or other flat object, pry out the bottom of the plastic dash panel STEP 3 : Once the bottom edge of the plastic dash panel has been pulled out, the sides of the plastic dash panel will begin to separate from the body of the vehicles dash. You will now be able to put your fingers into the openings on the sides of the plastic dash panel. Gently pull the plastic dash panel until it unsnaps from the body of the vehicles dash. Remove Factory Radio Move to: Wire New Radio Section Wiring The New Radio Move to: Mounting New Radio Section The Install Doctor STRONGLY recommends purchasing a ‘DIN’ radio for this vehicle. ‘DIN’ radios are a direct replacement for the Toyota radio in this vehicle. More information is available in the Mounting New Radio section. Mounting The Radio Options STEP 4 : Once all the clips on the plastic dash panel have been unsnapped, the dash can be pulled out. The top of the plastic dash panel will have wires attached to the clock, hazard and defrost switches. You do NOT need to unplug the connectors plugged into them. Move the plastic dash panel up and set it on top of the body of the dash. STEP 5 : The radio is held in with four (4) phillips screws / 8 mm bolts . Remove the screw/bolts. Pull the radio forward. Unplug the antenna cable, and 2 white connectors from the rear of the radio

Most panels can be removed with little pressure using no tools Remove any screws holding the radio in place, so the radio may be fully removed. A10mm socket wrench will be needed to remove these screws. 7. Connect the vehicle specific cable’s 8-pin molex and iPod Docking Cable to the DICE module. Shown is the CD Changer harness from the back of the radio. The vehicle specific cable will be interfacing from this point. Some radios may have the connectors in a different order than shown. 4 9. Verify all connections and re-install the radio back into the vehicle by sliding it into the tray until it locks into place. Route the docking cable as desired. The DICE iPod Integration installation is now complete. Use caution around the factory wiring while reinstalling your radio. If the radio will not slide into place, do not try to force it in place.
