resistance between test pin No. 22 and test pins No. 40 and 60. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short circuit and repeat QUICK TEST. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to step 5). 5)Check Fuel Pump Circuit Continuity Turn ignition off. Leave fuel pump relay and PCM disconnected. Measure resistance between FUEL PUMP circuit at fuel pump relay wiring harness connector and test pin No. 22 at breakout box. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM and repeat QUICK TEST. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open circuit and repeat QUICK TEST. 10)Code 95/542 A KOEO Code 95/542 indicates one of the following conditions: Engine Starts: * Fuel pump secondary circuit shorted to power. * Fuel pump relay contacts always closed. * Open FPM circuit between PCM and junction to POWER-TO-PUMP circuit. * Left/front HO2S short to power (dual HO2S applications). * Faulty PCM. No Start: * IFS switch circuit open or not reset. * Open circuit in or between PCM and fuel pump. * Faulty ground connection at fuel pump. * Faulty fuel pump. If engine starts, go to step 11). If engine does not start, go to step 15). 11)Check Fuel Pump Operation Turn ignition on. Wait 5 seconds. Listen for fuel pump operation. If fuel pump is off, go to step 13). If fuel pump is on, go to step 12). 12)Check For Fuel Pump Relay Always Closed Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel pump relay. Turn ignition on. If fuel pump is off with relay disconnected, replace fuel pump relay and repeat QUICK TEST. If fuel pump is on with relay disconnected, repair short to power in POWER-TO-PUMP or FPM circuit. (For models with relay block, also check fuel pump prime plug circuit). Repeat QUICK TEST. 13)Check Continuity Of Fuel Pump Monitor (FPM) Circuit Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 60-pin connector. Inspect and repair any damaged terminals. Install EEC-IV Breakout Box (T83L-50-EEC-IV) , leaving PCM disconnected. Disconnect fuel pump relay. Measure resistance between test pin No. 8 (No. 19 on Escort, and Tracer) at breakout box and POWER-TO-PUMP circuit at fuel pump relay wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 25) (dual HO2S) or replace PCM and repeat QUICK TEST (single HO2S). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open circuit and repeat QUICK TEST

Intake Manifold—Lower Removal 1. Partially drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03 . 2. Remove the upper intake manifold (9424). For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold—Upper in this section. 3. Remove the fuel supply manifold (9F792). For additional information, refer to Section 303-04B . 4. Disconnect the EGR vacuum tube (9E498). 5. Disconnect the EGR-to-exhaust manifold tube (9D477). * Loosen the nut. 6. Disconnect the upper radiator hose (8260). * Reposition the clamp. * Disconnect the hose. 7. Disconnect the heater hose (18472). * Compress the fitting * Disconnect the hose. 8. Disconnect the intake manifold runner control (IMRC). 9. Position the water bypass tube (8555) aside. 1. Remove the bolts. 2. Position the tube aside. 10. NOTE: Note the location of the six long bolts. Remove the lower intake manifold (9J447). 1. Remove the bolts. 2. Remove the intake manifold. 11. Remove the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) if necessary. For additional information, refer to Section 303-14 . 12. Remove and discard the lower intake manifold sealing components. Installation 1. Refer to the illustration for intake manifold sealing component locations. 2. Install the lower intake manifold front and rear end seals. 1. Apply a bead of sealant to the intake manifold front and rear end seal mounting points as indicated. * Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4. 3. Install the lower intake manifold front and rear end seals. 3. Install the intake manifold gaskets (9439). 4. Install the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) if required. For additional information, refer to Section 303-14 . 5. NOTE: The lower intake manifold must be installed within four minutes of applying sealant. Position the lower intake manifold. 1. Apply a bead of sealant to the lower intake manifold mounting at the points indicated. * Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4. 3. Position the lower intake manifold.

Connecting the Evolution 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Locate the diagnostic connector under the dash near the steering column or under the glove compartment and connect the Evolution cable to this connector. After making the connection, the screen will first display the Edge Products logo and then the main startup displays: The numbers in the upper left portion of the screen represent the version number of the Evolution programmer. The character in the upper right portion of the screen represents the current programmed state of your vehicle. The following letters may appear: I – Programming was interrupted. (See Programming Interrupted section for more information) 1 – Vehicle has been programmed to L1 – TOW. 2 – Vehicle has been programmed to L2 – RACE. 3 – Vehicle has been programmed to L3 – EXTREME. Evolution FORD Power Stroke 7.3 Liter 11 2. Select your desired option by pressing the up or down keys on the left side of the programmer and press . Continue to the next section. Special Tool(s) Removal 1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. 2. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever. 3. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector. 4. Remove the manual control outer lever nut and manual control outer lever. 2004 Ford Truck Ranger 2WD V6-4.0L VIN E 5. Remove the screws and the digital TR sensor. Installation 1. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the screws. 2. CAUTION: Tightening one screw before tightening the other may cause the sensor to bind or become damaged. NOTE: The manual lever must be in the NEUTRAL position. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten screws in an alternating sequence. 3.
