SERVICE PROCEDURE You will be performing the following, as required: • Determine the DTC Stored in ECM from the CONSULT-II Self-diagnosis results. • ECM Part Number Check to determine if this bulletin applies. • ECM Reprogramming (required if the ECM P/N in the vehicle matches one of those listed under “Current ECM P/N” in Chart A -page 2). • Replacing the Rear Oxygen Sensor (required if ECM Reprogramming is needed). Determine the DTC Stored in ECM: 1. Determine which DTC code is stored in the vehicle’s ECM by performing CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis. 2. Print out the Self-Diagnosis results for use in ECM Part Number Check , below. See Figure 1 for an example of the CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis printout. inspection and Pre-Installation Check Remove the parts from their packaging and carefully check that the kit contains all the parts listed on the delivery document. Familiarize yourself with each part and learn where it goes. Keep the parts clean at all times. WARNING A SIBS® unit must not be contaminated with any external matter that may adversely affect its operation and reliability Suggestions: • Inspect each brake and supplied items against the packing list included in the shipment. • Ensure all items are included as described. • Ensure all components remain in their original packaging until required for assembly. • Thoroughly read the Service Manual. Familiarize yourself with the tools required and prepare them for use; familiarize yourself with the parts of the brake and the process required for fitting each brake and control system. • Ensure complete cleanliness of all brake components and the working environment around the vehicle. • Ensure no contamination of the brake assemblies occurs during installation. • Follow the points in the manual as described; if you are not sure – check the Manual. • Place each brake close to the vehicle adjacent to the axle where the brake is to be fitted, ensuring that they cannot by contaminated by any foreign material. Preparation Make sure all the tools, equipment and brake components are readily available. Before starting installation, check that: 1. the battery is disconnected 2. the vehicle is standing safely on a hoist 3. the original Toyota brakes have been removed (refer to Toyota manual): a. remove rear axle shaft assemblies b. if fitting fronts, remove the front steering knuckle assemblies 4. the handbrake cable and lever have been removed 5. the required amount of SIBS® fluid is available 6. an empty drain pan is available

TOYOTA 4-Runner 1990-95 Pickup (standard cab) 1989-2002 / Pickup (extended cab) 1989-2002 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. Remove (3) screws and (1) 10mm bolt from the driver’s side speaker panel and remove the panel. Remove (1) 10mm bolt from the bottom of the passenger’s side speaker panel. Remove (3) screws from the side of the panel and remove the glove box. Remove (4) screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. Remove the climate control knobs. Unclip the climate control trim panel and remove (2) Phillips screws exposed. Unclip the dash trim bezel, lift up on the bezel and remove. DOUBLE DIN APPLICATIONS: Skip to the Installation Instructions for ALL VEHICLES on Page #3. SINGLE DIN APPLICATIONS: Cut and remove the bottom portion of the Radio Housing (see Fig. A) and Faceplate (see Fig. B). Skip to the Installation Instructions for ALL VEHICLES on Page #3. 12 1 2 TOYOTA Tacoma 1995-02 1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. Pull the cupholder out. Unclip the radio trim bezel and remove. Remove (4) screws securing the factory head unit and disconnect the wiring.

DISCONNECT PS PUMP FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the 2 PS air hoses from the air intake chamber and resonator. b. Remove the bolt holding the PS pressure tube clamp to the frame. c. Remove the drive belt. d. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the PS pump from the engine. 5. w/ A/C: DISCONNECT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the A/C compressor connector. b. Remove the drive belt. c. Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the A/C compressor from the engine. 6. LOOSEN FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 7. REMOVE DRIVE BELT FOR GENERATOR 8. REMOVE NO.2 FAN SHROUD 9. REMOVE FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 10. w/ A/C: REMOVE A/C COMPRESSOR BRACKET Remove the 5 bolts and A/C compressor bracket. 11. DISCONNECT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE 12. REMOVE NO.2 TIMING BELT COVER a. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector from the No. 2 timing belt cover. b. Disconnect the 4 high-tension cord clamps from the No. 2 timing belt cover. c. Remove the 6 bolts and timing belt cover. 13. REMOVE FAN BRACKET a. Remove the nut and PS pump adjusting strut. b. Remove the bolt, nut and fan bracket. 14. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER AT TDC/COMPRESSION a. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with timing mark “0″ of the No. 1 timing belt cover. b. Check that the timing marks of the camshaft timing pulleys and No. 3 timing belt cover are aligned. If not, turn the crankshaft pulley 1 revolution (360°) . HINT: When re-using timing belt: Place the matchmarks on the timing belt and camshaft timing pulleys, and place matchmark on timing belt to match the end of the No. 1 timing belt cover. 15. REMOVE TIMING BELT TENSIONER Alternately loosen the 2 bolts, and remove them, the belt tensioner and dust boot. 16. REMOVE TIMING BELT

Removal Procedure 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the floor console. 3. Remove the sun sensor and the automatic temperature controls assembly. 4. Remove the tweeter speakers and the stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Refer to Section 9F, Audio Systems. 5. Remove the screws and the instrument panel storage compartment. 6. Remove the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly. 7. Remove the instrument cluster. 8. Remove the chime module. 9. Remove the kick panels. 10. Remove the glove box. 11. Remove the screws and the glove box housing. 12. Disconnect the glove box housing electrical connectors. 13. Remove the knee bolster. 14. Lower the steering column. 17. Remove the screw behind the stereo cassette AM/FM radio. 18. Remove the screw securing the instrument panel to the heater air distributor case. 19. Remove the instrument panel bolts below the windshield. 22. Remove the bolts securing the bottom of the instrument panel to the floor. 23. Remove the instrument panel. Installation Procedure 1. Position the instrument panel in the vehicle. 2. Connect the instrument panel electrical connectors. NOTE: Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion. 3. Install the bolts securing the sides of the instrument panel to the body. Tighten Tighten the instrument panel-to-body bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft) . 4. Install the bolts securing the bottom of the instrument panel to the floor. Tighten Tighten the instrument panel-to-floor bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft) .

Approved Persons: Provides sufficient guidance to ensure familiarity with approved brake system modifications to stated Toyota Landcruiser models so as to ensure consistent certification of vehicles. Vehicle owner: Provides guidance on vehicle compliance requirements. Applies to Installation of Safe Effect Integrated Braking System (SIBS) to Series 70, 75, 78, 79, 80 and 100 Series Toyota Landcruiser motor vehicles. Installation of the Corefleet Offroad Braking (Rear) (COBR) system to Series 78 and 79 Series Toyota Landcruiser motor vehicles. Objective To ensure that braking modifications carried out to the above mentioned Toyota Landcruiser vehicles are to the approved and certified standard. Background Modification approval has been issued to two applicants regarding braking modifications to a range of Toyota Landcruiser vehicles. These vehicles are commonly used in the mining and exploration industry. The standard manufacturer supplied braking systems have been considered of very high maintenance characteristics due to the nature of vehicle operations (for example, underground mining activities, harsh operating conditions). An additional model of vehicle has recently been approved and the list of approved models of vehicles amended. These vehicles are also commonly registered for use on public roads. To ensure the braking systems of these vehicles remain in a serviceable condition to prescribed standards and maintain extended service life, modified braking systems have been developed to address the harsh operating conditions that are experienced in the underground mining and exploration industries

Valve Cover LH Removal 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 . 2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12 . 3. Remove the air cleaner housing. 1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. 2. Remove the bolt. 3. Remove the housing. 4. CAUTION: To disconnect the Norma fitting, squeeze the tabs and pull straight out or damage to the fitting can occur. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube. 5. Disconnect the fuel hose. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00 . 6. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve hose. 7. Remove the vapor management valve (VMV) cover. SECTION 303-01B: Engine — 3.9L 2002 Lincoln LS Workshop Manual IN-VEHICLE REPAIR Procedure revision date: 05/17/2001 Material Item Specification 8. Remove the VMV. 1. Disconnect the vacuum hose. 2. 2000-2002 Buick Century, Regal 2000-2001 Chevrolet Lumina 2000-2002 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo 2000-2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1. Verify that the coolant is at proper level in the radiator and the coolant recovery bottle. If the coolant is low, add proper amount of 50/50 water and DEX-COOL® mixture. If the low coolant light operates properly, diagnose the cooling system for loss of coolant as outlined in SI. DO NOT proceed further with this bulletin. 2. Remove the low coolant level sensor. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement in the Engine Cooling sub-section. 3. With the key on, the engine off and the coolant level sensor disconnected from the vehicle wiring harness, observe the low coolant light: Subject: Low Engine Coolant Level Indicator Always On (Diagnose Low Coolant Level System Operation/Check Sensor for Oil Contamination) Models: 2000-2002 Buick Century, Regal 2000-2001 Chevrolet Lumina 2000-2002 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo 2000-2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue • Light is on — Chassis wiring or instrument cluster concern. Follow the appropriate diagnostic information in SI. • 4. With the key off, connect the coolant level sensor into the vehicle’s wiring harness. Connect a ground wire (1) to the battery negative terminal. Using a sharp probe (3) attached to the ground wire, ground the coolant sensor probe (2) as shown in the illustration. Make sure a good contact is made. With the key on and the engine off, observe the low coolant light for at least 15 seconds. 5. Using a small wire brush or emery cloth, polish the low coolant level sensor probe to remove any film or oxidation. The probe should be a bright brass color when finished. Use Brake Parts Cleaner to flush removed deposits from the low coolant sensor probe. Reinstall the low coolant sensor into the vehicle and proceed to Step 6. 6. Flush the cooling system and install new DEX-COOL® mixture as outlined in the SI. Check the vehicle’s warranty history to determine if any engine gasket had recently been changed. If there has not been a recent gasket replacement, locate and repair the source of the engine oil contamination
