In addition to the content of this service kit, four other gaskets not included in this service kit will also be needed to complete the repair, a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Gasket (54), a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Inner Gasket (59), a Case Cover Lower Gasket (429), and a Case Cover Upper Gasket (430). These gaskets can be obtained by ordering service kit P/Ns 24206959 and 24206391. Be sure to use ONLY the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings provided in this service kit. DISCARD the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings removed from the transmission being serviced. Disassemble ONLY the Oil Pump Assembly from the Case Cover (Complete). DO NOT disassemble the Control Valve Body from the Case Cover. Remove ONLY the Case Cover-to- Case bolts to remove the Case Cover and Valve Body from Transmission Case AS AN ASSEMBLY . To access all Case Cover-to-Case bolts, it is necessary to remove the Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Assembly (322), and 1-2 & 3-4 Shift Solenoid Valve Assemblies (315A, 315B).

Special Tool(s) Removal 1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. 2. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever. 3. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector. 4. Remove the manual control outer lever nut and manual control outer lever. 2004 Ford Truck Ranger 2WD V6-4.0L VIN E 5. Remove the screws and the digital TR sensor. Installation 1. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the screws. 2. CAUTION: Tightening one screw before tightening the other may cause the sensor to bind or become damaged. NOTE: The manual lever must be in the NEUTRAL position. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten screws in an alternating sequence. 3. 1. Prepare for Installation. (a) Verify kit contents (b) Wear safety glasses. (c) Raise vehicle. (d) Caution muffler might be hot NOTE: Apply masking tape to quarter panels above the bumper fascia. To prevent damage when removing the bumper fascia, apply masking tape on the underside of the bottom left- hand corner of the door and left hand upper corner of door. (Fig. 1-1) 2. Prepare Vehicle for Rear Bumper Fascia Removal. (a) Open rear door (Fig. 2-1). (b) Protect exhaust tip with a rag or protective tape during installation of hitch. (Fig. 2-1) NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with proximity sensors, detach the sensor wire connector from inside the fascia, behind the rear wheels on both sides of the vehicle (Fig. 2-2). NOTE: Protect rear bumper to prevent damage from tools (i.e. air tools) when removing the fascia bolts. (a) Remove the 13 6 mm hex head bolts (A) from rear bumper fascia. (Fig. 3-1) (b) Remove one (1) push pin (B) from fascia (Fig. 3-1) (c) Unsnap the sides of the fascia from the vehicle. (Fig. 3-2) (d) With one person on each end, remove fascia from vehicle. Removal Procedure: 4.7L V8 OE Air Inlet System (a) Remove the two 10 mm cap nuts and throttle body cover (Fig. 4-1). (b) Remove air cleaner hose assembly. (1) Disconnect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose (Fig. 4-2). (2) Loosen the two 10 mm hose clamps and remove the air cleaner hose (Fig. 4-2). 5. Removal Procedure: 5.7L and 4.7L V8 OE Air Inlet System (a) Remove the air cleaner lid. (1) Disconnect the MAF sensor connector (Fig. 5-1). (2) Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp (Fig. 5-1). (3) Unfasten the 4 hook clamps and then remove the air cleaner lid (Fig. 5-1). (b) Remove OE air filter and save. (c) Remove the two 10 mm bolts and air cleaner case (Fig. 5-2)

1999-2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2000-2002 CHEVROLET TAHOE, SUBURBAN 2002 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE 1999-2002 GMC SIERRA 2000-2002 GMC YUKON, YUKON XL LOCATED IN THE SEVERE CORROSION AREAS LISTED BELOW Service Procedure The following procedure provides instructions for repairing a corrosion condition where the front wheel speed sensor mounts on the front wheel bearing assembly. 1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable hoist and support as necessary. 2. Remove both front tires and wheels. 3. Compress the front brake caliper pistons. 3.1. Install a large C-clamp over the top of the caliper housing and against the back of the outboard pad. 3.2. Slowly tighten the C-clamp until the pistons are pushed completely into the caliper bores. 3.3. Remove the C-clamp from the caliper. Important: It is not necessary to remove the front brake caliper from the bracket when removing the bracket in the next step. 4. Remove the two bolts that attach the front brake caliper mounting brackets to the knuckle. Notice: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic’s wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount, and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak. 5. Remove the brake caliper and bracket as an assembly and support it with heavy mechanic’s wire or equivalent. DO NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper. 6. Mark the relationship of the rotor to the bearing hub. 7. If equipped, remove the rotor retaining push nuts from the wheel studs
