1. Open the driver side door and lower the window. 2. Remove the door panel, kick panel, and plastic trim piece along the bottom of the door frame. 3. Disconnect the mirror wire harness. Remove the three mirror mounting nuts and remove the mirror housing from the vehicle. 1 2 3 Mirror Replacement – 2 – 4 There is a plug seated in a socket in the center of the mirror that holds the mirror in the mirror housing. Lift up the inboard edge of the mirror. Use a small pry bar and pry up around the center of the mirror until the plug unseats from the socket. 5 There are two drive pins on the bottom and outboard sides of the mirror. Hold the top of the mirror away from the mirror housing and pry away the bottom drive pin from the back of the mirror. 6 Hold the inboard side of the mirror away from the mirror housing and pry away the outboard drive pin from the back of the mirror. IF heated, disconnect OE heater wire from heater terminals. Note: During the removal of the original mirror, if motor pins stay attached to the back plate, use “V” end in small pry bar or needle nose pliers to disengage pins from back plate. Set the mirror aside. 7 8 Using the shorter of the two harnesses from the kit, tape the end without the mating connector to the end of the gopher wire. Remove the foam insulation from the mirror housing sail. Starting from the inside of the mirror housing, guide a piece of gopher wire down alongside the existing factory wire harness and out of the bottom of the mirror housing sail. 9 Pull the gopher wire and wire harness through the mirror housing until about 4 inches of wire remain inside the mirror housing.
13 Tuck the wire harness behind the Signal® mirror. Insert the other drive pin into the outboard pin socket (socket closest to the optic module). Align the socket in the center of the Signal® mirror over the plug on the center of the mirror mount. Align drive pins to its mating slots on the motor mount and vice-versa. Anti-vibration tab should be tucked inside housing. 14 Use the palm of your hand and firmly press down on lower portion (marked boundaries) of the Signal® mirror until it snaps into position. Press down carefully on the mirror outboard edge to engage outboard drive pin into mirror mount socket. 15 Press mirror down carefully on the lower edge to engage the lower drive pin into motor mount. Remount mirror to door, then use Electronic Hand Control to relocate mirror position. Gently clean any finger mark/dirt away from mirror using paper towel and glass cleaner. 10 Guide the Signal® mirror harness along the existing path of the factory wire harness and through the foam insulation. Remove any slack in the wire. Reposition the foam insulation on the mirror housing sail. 11 Connect the Signal® mirror mating connector to the Signal ® mirror harness. If heated , reconnect the heater wires to the heater terminals on the back of the new Signal® mirror. NOTE: There is no polarity so the wires may be interchanged. Disregard heater connections on vehicles not equipped with outside heated mirrors. 12 The drive pins must be aligned before installing the Signal® mirror. If needed, insert a drive pin into the lower socket on the mirror mount. Align the nubs on the lower drive pin so it points to the round plug in the center of the mirror mount.

1. Verify that the power steering pump reservoir is full. 2. Verify that the accessory drive belt is in good condition and that the pulleys are not bent or damaged. 3. Verify proper belt tension and operation of the belt tensioner. 4. Check for power steering hose ground out conditions. 5. Check for good engine idle and correct engine RPM. 6. Important: When performing the “Bleeding Air from Power Steering System” procedure, it is important that the front of the vehicle is supported by the lower control arms. If the vehicle is not supported by the lower control arms, the procedure may cause the strut bushing to dislocate and cause new concern. for assembly purposes. If the assembly aid is installed, remove the assembly aid and install the rear transaxle mount. 7. With the vehicle on dry pavement, maneuver the vehicle in parking positions. If the steering vibrates/shudders or moans in this test, replace the power steering pressure hose and/or the harmonic balancer. Important: A defective harmonic balancer on the 1995 Buick Riviera can influence steering vibrations after power steering hose installation. Important: When installing the pressure hose on the 1995 Buick Riviera, pull down on the pressure hose at the rear of the engine or bend the hose to allow clearance between the hose and the front of the dash. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1995-1998 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System in the Power Steering section of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump assembly (4). 5. Remove the bolt/screws from the retaining clips (3). 6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear assembly (2). 7. Remove the power steering pressure hose assembly from the vehicle. 8. Install the power steering pressure hose assembly to the vehicle. 9. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump assembly (4). 10. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear assembly (2). Tighten Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft). 11. Install the bolt/screws to the retaining clips (3). Tighten Tighten the retaining clip bolt/screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in). 12. Install the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 13. Lower the vehicle. 14. Fill and bleed the power steering system using, J 43485. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 83-32-09, dated November, 1998. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) and Return (Outlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1999-2001 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System in the Power Steering section of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the LH front wheel/tire assembly. 4. Remove the LH lower splash shield. 5. ADJUSTMENTS WINDOWS Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Loosen bolts holding window to regulator. Raise window fully, seating window in frame. Tighten bolts. Install door trim panel. TROUBLE SHOOTING POWER WINDOWS On Dakota, inspect circuit breaker No. 20 (20-amp) in junction block. On Durango inspect circuit breaker No. 21 (25-amp) in junction block. On all models, junction block is located on left end of instrument panel. Inspect fuse No. 9 (40-amp on Dakota, 50-amp on Durango) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in left front corner of engine compartment. Inspect power window system ground circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . SYSTEM TESTS ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE Dakota 1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver’s front power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) at driver power window switch wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. Condition Some customers may comment on an inoperative display monitor or monitors in the GM Accessories Headrest DVD System. Cause This condition may be caused by a loose connection at the display monitor cable connectors. These connectors are located at the lower rear part of both front seats. Two cables are routed to the display monitor in each seat. Correction Do This Don’t Do This Install display monitor cable connector clamps. Do Not replace the DVD system display monitor. Important: A number of headrest monitors have been replaced under warranty and in many cases, no trouble was found by the supplier when these units were analyzed. Therefore, technicians should be checking for loose connections and installing cable connector clamps to ensure a positive and robust connection. Technicians are to install a video cable connector clamp on each cable connector located under each front seat. A total of four cable connector clamps, P/N 19159659, are required for each vehicle. The illustration above shows a pair of display monitor cable connectors without the cable clamps installed.

ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE 1. Check power window system circuit breaker and fuse. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace components as necessary. If components are okay, go to next step. 2. Remove driver’s power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Using test light, connect ground lead to harness connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Brown wire). Check for voltage by touching test light probe to harness connector terminals No. 9, 11 and 14 (all White/Pink wires). 3. If test light does not illuminate, check power and ground circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light illuminates, ground circuit and power circuit between battery and switch are okay. Check switch and motor. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH and POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. COMPONENT TESTS VENT WINDOW MOTOR 1. Remove “D” pillar trim panel. See “D” PILLAR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 2. Disconnect power vent window motor wire connector from body harness. 3. Using 2 jumper wires, connect one to a battery (+) source and the other to a good ground (-). 4. Connect the negative (-) jumper probe to one of the motor connector terminals. 5. Momentarily touch the positive (+) jumper probe to the other motor connector terminal. When the positive probe is connected, the motor should rotate in one direction to either move window open of closed. If window is all the way open or closed the motor will grunt and the crank system will flex when actuated in the one direction. Reverse jumper probes at the motor connector terminals and window should now move in the opposite position to verify full operation. If motor grunts and does not move with the motor connected in both directions, verify that crank system is not binding. POWER WINDOW MOTOR 1. Remove door trim panel and sound pad. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 2. Disconnect power window motor wire connector from door harness. 3. Using 2 jumper wires, connect one to a battery (+) source and the other to a good ground (-). 4. Connect the negative (-) jumper probe to one of the motor connector terminals. POWER WINDOW SWITCH 1. Remove window switch from door trim panel. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check switch continuity. See appropriate WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY table. See Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 . 2. If the results are NOT OK, replace the drivers side window lift switch. 3. Test passenger door switch for continuity. 4. If the results are not OK, replace the switch. The power window master switch has a Auto-Down feature. The switch is equipped with 2 detent positions when actuating the power window OPEN. The first detent position allows the window to roll down and stop when the switch is released. The second detent position actuates an integral express roll down relay that rolls the window down after the switch is released. When the express down circuit senses stall current (window has reached end of down travel), the switch will turn current off to the motor. The AUTO feature can be cancelled by actuating the switch UP or DOWN while window is in motion. If the electronic circuit in the switch fails to detect a stall current, the auto down circuit will time out within 9 to 13 seconds.

1. Cover the front seats, floorboards, dash and steering wheel with a clean drop cloth or disposable plastic covers. Note: Always wear eye and hand protection when working with glass. Make sure that you have the right glass and the urethane systems are current. Windshield part numbers are FW02724, FW02723, FW02722 or FW02721. 2. Remove the rearview mirror by loosening the Tork screw using a T-20 Tork screwdriver. Slide the wire-harness trim cover off the headliner. Slide the mirror off the mirror bracket in an upward motion. 3. Disconnect the wire harness from the underside of the hardware with a small flat-tip screwdriver or your fingernails. 4. Remove the windshield-wiper nuts using a wrench or socket. If the nuts are tight, loosen them with a 14-millimeter wrench and then come back with your socket. Move the wiper arm in an up-and-down motion to break it loose from the post, or use a wiper puller. Caution: Wipers can sometimes be hard to remove. To avoid stressing the post, use a wiper puller. The wipers are marked; take note to ensure proper re-installation. 5. Using a No. 2 Phillips-tip screwdriver, remove the two plastic screw inserts on the fasteners located on the outer edge of the cowling corners. There is one on the passenger’s side and one on the driver’s side. A5a A5b 2007-08 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab By Gilbert R. Using an outward motion, pull out the rubber piece, and then gently pull the rubber insert from the cowling. 7. With the hood open, push in and pop loose the six plastic tab fasteners using a No. 1 PryBaby tool from the underside. There are three on the passenger’s side and three on the driver’s side, with a guide pin at the center. 8. Remove the two-part cowl by sliding it in an upward-outward motion toward the engine compartment, disengaging the eight underside tabs on the front part of the cowling from the base of the windshield. Tape the hood and fender with molding-retention tape to avoid gnarling or scratching the cowling. Note: When re-installing the cowling, use a No. 1 PryBaby tool to assist in the installation of the cowling onto the bottom of the windshield. 9. If using a cold knife or power tool to cut out the glass, remove the A-pillar trim panels, as the windshield fits close to the pinchweld. 10. Remove the door weatherstrip. 11. Remove the screw covers using a No. 2 PryBaby. 12. Remove the two 10-millimeter bolts hidden beneath the covers using a 10-millimeter socket-wrench driver. Pull the handle loose. 13. Remove the A-pillar trim panels using a door-panel remover or No. 2 PryBaby tool. Note: Before beginning windshield removal, verify the new windshield is the correct one and the urethanes and primers are current. Never use outdated products as this could jeopardize the structural integrity of the vehicle and the safety of its passengers. Removal 14. Make sure cutting blades are sufficiently sharp. 15. Before cutting out the windshield, remove contaminants from the glass and pinchweld to prevent contact with the urethane. 16. If using a cold knife, use a 3? 4 -inch blade. Cut three sides; then use a long knife or power tool to cut the bottom of the windshield. Note: There are no gravity stops on this windshield. 17. If trying to save the windshield, use an Equalizer with an 8-inch blade. Note: When using any power tool, lubricate the cutting area with water. Spray the top and sides; then make your cuts. 18. After cutting the sides and top, cut out the bottom portion of the glass using an Equalizer Express. Spray the bottom of the windshield with water at least 4-to-5 inches above the urethane on the glass, so the water flows down into the urethane while you make your final cut across the bottom of the windshield. Caution: Never use your head to push, as this could result in back and neck injuries. 19. Take the windshield out of the opening using a set of vacuum cups. Lift the glass and place it on a windshield stand or suitable workstation. Installation 20. After cutting the windshield out, remove contaminants such as dirt, moisture and other debris from the pinchweld. Clean the dashboard. 21. Dry fit the new glass to the opening. Mark your glass using a grease pencil or molding-retention tape. 22. Place your vacuum cups on the windshield in the appropriate location for a one-person set. 23. For driver-side setting of the windshield using a Glass Handler Kit, place the kit’s elbow-setting pad on the driver’s side of the hood area; then lift the windshield from the stand using the vacuum cups. 24. Reach over, place your elbow on the setting pad and set the windshield onto the old urethane. 25. With the windshield resting in the opening, make sure it is in the right spot. 26. Adjust both sides to the correct setting, marking the passenger’s side, then the driver’s side. Lift the glass and place it on a windshield stand or suitable workstation. 27. Follow the urethane manufacturer’s recommendations for installation. 28. Clean the inside of the windshield using a urethane manufacturer-recommended product; follow recommended steps. Note: Do not touch the bonding area of the windshield after cleaning, prepping or priming it. 29. Wear powder-free Nitrile gloves to keep off chemicals. 30. Apply the glass prep and primer, following the urethane manufacturer’s recommendations.

Inspect the power steering reservoir. Does one of the 3 ribs on the reservoir cover point toward the reservoir holder? Yes – This vehicle already has the revised power steering reservoir. Continue with normal troubleshooting procedures. No – Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Drain the power steering reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Raise the reservoir, and disconnect its return hose. •Drain the reservoir fluid into a suitable container. Take care not to spill any fluid on the body or other parts. Wipe off any spilled fluid immediately. 2. Drain the fluid from the power steering system: •Connect a suitable diameter drain hose to the disconnected return hose. •Hold the end of the drain hose in a suitable container. •Start the engine, and run it at idle while you turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. •When the fluid stops running out of the hose, shut off the engine. •Discard the used fluid. 3. Reinstall the return hose to the reservoir, then reattach the reservoir to its holder. Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 4. Bleed the air from the power steering system: •Start the engine. •With the engine at a fast idle, turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. 5. Check the condition of the fluid in the reservoir: •If the fluid looks contaminated, dark, or discolored, repeat steps 1 thru 5. •If the fluid is clear, go to step 6. 6. Place a suitable container under the vehicle to catch any fluid 7. Replace the power steering fluid reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Disconnect the return hose from the reservoir, and pour the fluid from the reservoir into a container. •Disconnect the outlet hose from the reservoir, and remove the reservoir. •Install a new reservoir in the reverse order of removal. •Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 8. Start the engine, and run it at a fast idle. Turn the steering from lock-to-lock several times to bleed any air from the system. 9. Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir, and add more if needed. Do not fill the reservoir beyond its upper level line.

Certain 2004 – 2006 Model Year Sienna vehicles equipped w/Power Back Door (Rear Liftgate) Q1: What is the condition? A1: Toyota has determined that the gas struts used to help lift and support the Power Rear Liftgate in certain 2004 through 2006 model year Sienna vehicles could be wearing out sooner than expected. As the gas struts deteriorate, the performance of the Power Rear Liftgate will begin to degrade, and the Power Rear Liftgate will operate more slowly than when the gas struts were new. Only Sienna vehicles equipped with the Power Rear Liftgate are involved. Q2: Are there any warnings that this condition exists? A2: Owners may notice that the Power Rear Liftgate will not remain in the open position. If not repaired, the gas struts may not be able to support the weight of the liftgate when it is open, and eventually, the gas struts could deteriorate to the point that the liftgate will fall about ten inches after it reaches the fully open position, at which point the power motor will engage and power the liftgate to the fully closed position. This condition may cause injury to a person who is struck by the liftgate when it falls or when it is closing. Q3: When were these vehicles produced, and how many vehicles are involved? A3: Only certain 2004 through 2006 model year Sienna vehicles equipped with the Power Rear Liftgate, produced between January 2003 and December, 2006 are involved. Approximately 196,000 vehicles are involved nationwide.

With the ignition switch in the RUN position, test for battery voltage at the circuit fuse in the transmission solenoid power supply circuit. Refer to the appropriate SI Document for the transmission solenoid power supply circuit information. 2. If battery voltage is present at the fuse, inspect the ignition voltage circuit between the fuse and the transmission for possible opens. 3. If battery voltage is not present at the fuse, test for continuity between the fuse and the ignition switch. If NO ontinuity is between the fuse and the ignition switch, repair the open in that circuit. 4. If you have continuity between the fuse and the ignition switch, the most likely cause is the ignition switch. Replace the ignition switch using the appropriate Ignition Switch Replacement procedure in SI. Refer to group number 2.188 of the parts catalog for part description and usage of the ignition switch.
