Using the right arrow key, toggle the VVTi actuator “ON.” 5. If at this point the vehicle does not run rough and/or stalls when the active test is performed, proceed with Repair Manual P1349 VVTi Fault Isolation Procedure (FIP). If the vehicle does stall and/or runs rough, this indicates the the VVTi control system is operating. Proceed to replace the VVTi actuator following the repair procedures listed on the Technical Information System (TIS): Engine Mechanical Section, Camshaft, Replacement The camshaft timing gear should come in the unlocked position from the factory. If it is difficult to install the camshaft timing gear, the lock pin may be engaged. To disengage the lock pin, apply and hold approximately 20 psi of air pressure at the oil feed hole located 90 degrees clockwise of the oval slot. (See Figure 1.) Once the pin has released, turn the interior assembly counterclockwise. (See black arrow in Figure 1.) B. Put the camshaft timing gear assembly and the camshaft together with the straight pin off the key groove. C. Turn the camshaft timing gear assembly (as shown in Figure 2) while pushing it lightly against the camshaft. Push further at the position where the pin fits into the groove. NOTE: Be sure not to turn the camshaft timing gear to the retard angle side (in the clockwise direction). D. Check that there is no clearance between the end of the camshaft and the camshaft timing gear. E. Tighten the camshaft bolt with the camshaft timing gear fixed. Torque: 54 Nm (551 kgfcm, 40 ftlbf) F. Check that the camshaft timing gear assembly can move to either side and is not locked

Equipment: Robinair R-134a Refrigerant Recovery/Recycling Machine (Robinair P/N: 342000) 2. Disconnect Negative Terminal of Battery. 3. Drain Coolant. CAUTION: Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot, as coolant and steam can be blown out under pressure. A. Remove the radiator cap. B. Loosen the radiator and engine drain plugs and drain the coolant. C. Close the drain plugs. Install the SST to the piping clamp. SST: 09870-00015 HINT: Confirm the direction of the piping clamp claw and the SST using the illustration shown on the caution label. B. Push down the SST and release the clamp lock. NOTE: Be careful not to deform the tube when pushing the SST. C. Pull the SST slightly and push the release lever. Then remove the piping clamp with the SST. D. Remove the piping clamp from the SST. E. Disconnect the cooler refrigerant suction hose No. 1. NOTE: Disconnect the tube by hand only. Do not pry the tube apart. Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system. Disconnect the same way as cooler refrigerant suction hose No. 1. 6. Disconnect Heater Inlet Water Hose. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip and disconnect the heater inlet water hose. 7. Disconnect Heater Outlet Water Hose. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip and disconnect the heater outlet water hose. 8. Place Front Wheels Facing Straight Ahead. 9. Remove Horn Button Assembly. NOTE: If the airbag connector is disconnected with the ignition switch ON, DTCs will be recorded. Remove the parts from their packaging and carefully check that the kit contains all the parts listed on the delivery document. Familiarize yourself with each part and learn where it goes. Keep the parts clean at all times. WARNING: A SIBS unit must not be contaminated with any external material/substance – this may adversely affect its operation and reliability. 3.1. Suggestions: 3.1.1. Inspect each brake and supplied items against the packing list included in the shipment. 3.1.2. Ensure all items are included as described. 3.1.3. Ensure all components remain in their original packaging until required for assembly. 3.1.4. Ensure vehicle stub shafts are clean, free from rust, dirt, corrosion or any foreign material. 3.1.5. Thoroughly read the Service Manual. Familiarize yourself with the tools required and prepare them for use; familiarise yourself with the parts of the brake and the process required for fitting each brake and control system. 3.1.6. Ensure complete cleanliness of all brake components and the working environment around the vehicle. 3.1.7. Ensure no contamination of the brake assemblies occurs during installation. 3.1.8. Follow the points in the manual as described; if you are not sure – check the Manual. 3.1.9. Place each brake close to the vehicle adjacent to the axle where the brake is to be fitted, ensuring that they cannot by contaminated by any foreign material.
