Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check? — Go to Step 2 Go to Instrument Cluster System Check 2 1. Disconnect the Transmission Range (TR) Switch connector C2. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. 3. Conduct the PRNDL Logic Input Test by connecting fused jumper wires between ground and the appointed cavities of the TR Switch connector. Refer to PRNDL Logic Input Test PRNDL Logic Input Test . 4. Repeat for each transmission range. Do all ranges illuminate? — Go to Step 3 Go to Step 4 3 Adjust the transmission range switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment (4L60E); Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment (4L80E) Automatic Transmissions. Replace the PNP Switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement (4L60E); Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement (4L80E) in Automatic Transmissions. Is the repair complete? — Go to Instrument Cluster System Check — 4 1. Remove the I/P Cluster. 2. Connect a J 39200 DMM (continuity) between the I/P Cluster connector and connector C2 of the TR Switch to those circuit(s) that connected to the faulty PRNDL indicators. Is continuity present in the circuit(s) tested? — Go to Step 6 Go to Step 5 5 Locate and repair the open in the circuit(s) that are faulty between the TR Switch and the I/P Cluster. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. Is the repair complete? — Go to Instrument Cluster System Check — 6 Connect a J 39200 DMM (continuity) between the I/P Cluster connector and ground to those circuit(s) that connected to the faulty PRNDL indicators. Is continuity present in the circuit(s) tested? — Go to Step 7 Go to Step 8 Locate and repair the short to ground in the circuit(s) that are faulty between the TR Switch and the I/P Cluster. Refer to Wiring 7 Repairs in Wiring Systems. Is the repair complete? — Go to Instrument Cluster System Check — 8 Replace the I/P Cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement . Is the repair complete?

Cause 3 Metal flashing left in the cylinder may cause a high effort to rotate the key. Cause 4 The slider may be binding in the guides. This may cause the shifter to become difficult to operate. Correction 1 Verify that the shifter button is inoperative by evaluating if the park pawl pin on the shifter assembly moves when activating the button. If the parking pawl does not move when the button is activated, the shifter handle will have to be replaced. Refer to Floor Shifter Control Knob Replacement in SI. Correction 2 Important: A change has been made to the shifter assembly for service. The replacement shifter assembly will read PRNDIL (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, Intermediate and Low). Verify that the micro switch is out of position. Replace the shifter assembly. Refer to Transmission Control Replacement in SI. Correction 3 Important: Refer to instruction sheet that is supplied with the lock cylinder kit. BO 47869 is an essential staking tool and must be used for the repair. Replace the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement in SI. Correction 4 Replace the slide indicator and guides in the shifter following the procedure below: 1. Apply the parking brake. 2. Remove the upper console trim. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement-Console Front in SI. 3. Remove shifter knob. Refer to Floor Shifter Control Knob Replacement in SI. 4. Remove the indicator plate. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to release the locking tabs. 5. Remove the shifter indicator lens. 6. Pull up on the indicator and remove it from the assembly. 7. Remove the two front rails by unsnapping the front and lifting up, and then back, to remove the rails from the shifter assembly. 8. Install the new guides. Place the hook end into the assembly and push down. It will snap into place. 9. Install the new slide indicator. With the transmission in neutral, place the slide over the shifter and into the guides. Move the slide indicator down the guides in the front and rear. Important: Replace the shifter indicator lens if damage is present due to the slider binding or if it becomes damaged during disassembly. 10. Install the shift indicator lens. 11. Install the shift indicator plate. 12. Install the shifter knob. Refer to Floor Shifter Control Knob Replacement in SI. 13. Install the upper console trim. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement-Console Front in SI

FRONT DISASSEMBLY 1) PREPARE VEHICLE… â Place the vehicle in neutral. Raise the front of vehicle and place jack stands underneath frame raise a few inches behind the sway bar mounting points. Ease vehicle down on to stands. Put transmission in gear or “park”, set emergency brake and chock rear fires to prevent accidental movement. Remove the front tires. 2) ANTI-SWAY BAR and SKID PLATE… ââ Unbolt the brackets that attach the front anti-sway bar body to the frame. â Remove the stock skid plate located below the radiator. If the vehicle has a splash shield on either side of the radiator (not found on all models), remove these as well. 3) LOWER CONTROL ARMS (LCA) … ââ Remove front shock absorbers. On both sides, remove the 2 eccentric cam bolts that attach the LCA-to-frame; retain bolts for use later. Dislodge LCAs from their mounts, and let hang. 4) LCA CROSSMEMBERS (DIAGRAM 1)… â Remove the differential-to-front crossmember bolt (save for reuse), then remove and discard the stock front crossmember. The #55-11 -7055 front crossmember has axle mounting tabs, as shown. The rear crossmember, #55-12-7055, has a hole at each end of its main beam for the optional kicker braces to install. Mount the crossmember with these holes facing rear of vehicle. â The 1-7/8 ” x 1-13/16″ tabs are used as locking washers for the 5/8″ x 4″ bolts that attach the Superlift crossmembers-to-frame pillars. It is not unusual for the frame pillars to be bent somewhat, causing misalignment. If you experience this, and mis-alignment is no more than 1/4″, trim the tabs’ width until they seat properly. If more than 1/4″ mis-alignment exists, contact Superlift before proceeding.

REMOVE 2 UPPER SIDE TRANSAXLE MOUNTING BOLTS FROM TRANSAXLE Torque: 64 Nm (650 kgf- cm, 47 ft. lbs.) 13. DISCONNECT SOLENOID CONNECTOR AND PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR Disconnect the solenoid connector and park/neutral position switch connector. 14. DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLE 15. REMOVE BOLT AND DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVOIR Torque: 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 inch lbs.) 16. REMOVE STARTER 17. REMOVE LH, RH, CENTER ENGINE UNDER COVERS 18. DRAIN ATF FROM FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE Torque: 54 Nm (550 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.) 19. REMOVE LH AND RH DRIVE SHAFTS.
