DIAGNOSIS 1. Start the engine, and let it idle until it warms up. Does the idle fluctuate, or is there a customer complaint of an intermittent idle fluctuation? Yes – Odyssey : Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE A. Pilot : Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B. No – Go to step 2. 2. Connect the HDS to the vehicle’s DLC, and check for DTCs. Is DTC P1129 or P0505 stored? Yes – Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B. No – Continue with normal troubleshooting. REPAIR PROCEDURE A 1. Connect the HDS to the vehicle’s DLC. 2. Start the engine, and turn on the HDS. 3. When prompted, enter the VIN and the odometer reading 4. From the System Selection Menu screen, select PGM-FI . 5. From the Mode Menu, select DATA LIST . 6. Scroll down the list to PSP SWITCH . Watch the reading in the Value column. 7. Check for a broken power steering pressure switch wire by wiggling the P/S pressure switch wire harness at the switch while you check the Value column reading. •If the reading changes between on and off when you wiggle the harness, go to step 8. •If the reading does not change between on and off when you wiggle the harness, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B. 8. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and remove the right front wheel to access the power steering pressure switch. 9. Disconnect the connector from the switch, and release the harness clip from the body. NOTE: You may need to disconnect the Secondary HO2S connector to free the end of the harness from the body. 10. Lower the vehicle, and pull the harness up for easier access to make the repair. 11. Remove the rubber seal from the connector, and remove the terminals from the connector noting the GRN wire and BLK wire locations. 12. Remove the tape from the corrugated tube and the wires up to the harness clip; mark the wires at the end of the corrugated tube

Connect a J 39200 DMM (continuity) between the I/P Cluster connector and connector C2 of the TR Switch to those circuit(s) that connected to the faulty PRNDL indicators. Is continuity present in the circuit(s) tested? — Go to Step 6 Go to Step 5 5 Locate and repair the open in the circuit(s) that are faulty between the TR Switch and the I/P Cluster. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. Is the repair complete? — Go to Instrument Cluster System Check — 6 Connect a J 39200 DMM (continuity) between the I/P Cluster connector and ground to those circuit(s) that connected to the faulty PRNDL indicators. Is continuity present in the circuit(s) tested? — Go to Step 7 Go to Step 8 Locate and repair the short to ground in the circuit(s) that are faulty between the TR Switch and the I/P Cluster. Refer to Wiring 7 Repairs in Wiring Systems. Is the repair complete? — Go to Instrument Cluster System Check — 8 Replace the I/P Cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement . Using the J 35616 connector test adapter kit, install a fused jumper wire between terminals A and B of the TCC brake switch connector. Did the TCC brake switch status change from Open to Closed? — Go to Step 5 Go to Step 3 3 1. Remove the IGN 1 fuse. 2. Inspect the fuse for an open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. Transmission Repair 1. Remove the transmission. Refer to the appropriate SI procedure. 2. Disassemble and inspect the transmission. Refer to Unit Repair Automatic Transmission – 4L60-E/4L65-E. Important: Subject: 4L60-E Automatic Transmission/Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Shudder, Water in Transmission (Repair Transmission and Replace Transmission Filler Tube, Level Indicator and Seal) Models: 2004-2005 Buick Rainier 2003-2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Models 2003-2005 GMC Envoy Models 2003-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada 2005 Saab 9-7X with 4.2L In-Line 6 Cylinder Engine (VIN S — RPO LL8) • Visible rust on the transmission fluid level indicator. • Visible water in the oil pan. • A milky white substance inside the pan area. • Spacer plate gaskets that appear to be glued to the spacer plate, valve body or case. • Rust on internal transmission iron/steel components. • Remove the surge tank cap and examine the coolant for signs of contamination with transmission fluid (the coolant will have a milky, not clear appearance). • If the coolant has a normal, clear appearance, the radiator should not be replaced. • The cooler can also be tested by following the Coolant System Leak Test procedure (SI Document ID# 877442). Do NOT replace a radiator without verifying that the transmission oil cooler is leaking. If water or coolant is found in the transmission, the following components MUST be replaced. Replace the Transmission Fluid Filler Tube, Seal and Fluid Level Indicator WITH the transmission REMOVED from vehicle. 1. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube from the transmission. 2. Replace the transmission fill tube seal, P/N 1259475. 3. Replace the transmission fill tube, P/N 15000220, following the appropriate SI Document for Transmission Installation. 4. Replace the transmission fluid level indicator, P/N 15069769 when appropriate during the transmission installation. Replace the Transmission Fluid Filler Tube, Seal and Fluid Level Indicator with the transmission in the vehicle. 1. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement (SI Document ID# 1364496). 2. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator from the filler tube. 3. Remove the filler tube nut (2) located on the right side of the engine. 4. Remove the filler tube from the vehicle. Tip It is necessary to remove the two A/C line (suction line / low side of muffler hose) retainers and reposition • Replace all of the rubber type seals. • Replace all of the composition-faced clutch plate assemblies including the band. • Replace all of the nylon parts (Thrust Washers). • Replace the torque converter. • Thoroughly clean and rebuild the transmission, using new gaskets and oil filter. • Flush and flow check the transmission oil cooler using J 45096. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 02-07-30- 052C or newer – Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Flush and Flow Test Essential Tool J 45096 TransFlow .
the A/C line to allow proper clearance for installation of the new transmission fluid fill tube. 5. Remove the A/C line at the oil level indicator tube bracket nut. 6. Remove the A/C bracket bolt from the engine lift hook. 7. Reposition the A/C line upward. 8. Install the new transmission filler tube, P/N 15000220, into position but NOT into the transmission at this time. 9. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information (SI Document ID# 744862). 10. Remove the two bolts securing the transmission heat shield to the transmission. 11. Remove the transmission heat shield from the transmission. 12. Remove the old filler tube seal from the transmission case. 13. Install a new seal, P/N 1259475 into the transmission case. 14. Position the new transmission filler tube into the transmission seal. 15. Install the transmission heat shield to the transmission. 16. Install the two bolts securing the transmission heat shield to the transmission. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft). 17. Lower the vehicle. 18. Install the nut securing the filler tube to the stud. Tighten Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in). 19. Reposition the A/C line into place. 20. Install the A/C line bracket to the oil level indicator tube stud and secure the bracket with the nut. 21. Install the A/C line bracket to the engine lift bracket and secure the A/C bracket with the bolt

APPLIED VEHICLES: All Infiniti SERVICE INFORMATION • This bulletin is to assist you in responding to customer questions about brake operation, and provides diagnostic and repair information for each item listed, if any should occur. • Most brake issues fall into the following categories: a. Brake Noise: A squeak, squeal, clunk, or groan that occurs when the brakes are applied or released. b. Brake Judder: A vibration that can be felt in the vehicle, steering wheel, or brake pedal when the brakes are applied. c. Pedal Feel: The effort needed to operate the brakes is too high or too low. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Verify the condition by road testing the vehicle with the customer. 2. Determine the specific brake issue based on the description in the Service Information above. 3. Follow the appropriate repair procedure(s), listed on the following pages, for your specific issue. BRAKE NOISE • Brakes can make a range of noises when applied or released. Some noises are normal and no repair action should be taken. • Use the following descriptions to identify the specific type of brake noise and the appropriate repair: Squeak noise when the brakes are cold: • Usually occurs during the first few stops in the morning. • This is a normal condition. Reinstalling a used belt in reversed running direction could damage the belt. – Unclip toothed belt guard on both sides and remove. – Turn crankshaft by hand to TDC. Marks -A- and -B- must align – Check position of camshafts. Larger holes (arrow) of securing plates on camshaft sprockets must be on inside and must align If they are not in this position: Turn crankshaft one revolution further. – Remove sealing plug from left-side of cylinder block. Top Dead Center (TDC) mark on crankshaft must be visible or can be felt Crankshaft Holder 3242 Shown In Installed Position – Install 3242 crankshaft holder into opening. – Remove tensioner for ribbed belt. – Remove center and left belt guards. Notes: The toothed belt tensioner is oil-dampened. Compress it by slowly applying constant pressure. Use spring clamp from 2024A. – Using 8 mm hex wrench, turn toothed belt tensioning roller -1- counter-clockwise, opposite direction shown (arrow), until tensioning lever -2- compresses tensioner -3- so that spring clamp (2 mm dia.) can be inserted into bore and lifter. – Insert pin and release tension. – Remove vibration dampener. Refer to Engine/Cylinder Block Assembly/Harmonic Balancer/Service and Repair – Remove idler for ribbed belt and guard under vibration dampener (arrows). – Remove toothed belt.

Subject: Shake/Vibration in Steering Wheel, Floor, Seat at Highway Speeds on Smooth Roads (Diagnose/Balance Tires/Wheels) Models: 1998-2005 Buick Park Avenue, Park Avenue Ultra 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre 1998-2004 Cadillac Seville (SLS, STS) 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille (DTS only) 2001-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora 2000-2005 Pontiac Bonneville (17″ Tires only) • Missing balance weights • Bent rim flange • Irregular tire wear • Incomplete bead seating • Tire irregularities • Mud/ice build-up in wheel • Stones in the tire tread © 2009 General Motors Corporation. All rights reserved 3. Road test the vehicle with the Electronic Vibration Analyzer (EVA) essential tool for a sufficient distance on a known, smooth road surface to duplicate the condition. Record the Hertz (Hz) reading as displayed by the EVA onto the tire data worksheet found at the end of this bulletin. This should be done after a tire break-in period of at least 10 miles (16 km) at 45 mph (72 km/h) or greater, in order to eliminate any possible tire flat-spotting. 4. If the road test indicates a shake/vibration still exists, check the imbalance of each tire/wheel assembly on a known, calibrated, off-car dynamic balancer. If any assembly calls for more than ¼ ounce on either rim flange, remove all balance weights and rebalance to as close to zero as possible. Important: Some GM dealers may have a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancer, or a Coats XR1850 Runout Balancer. Either will simplify Step 5 by not requiring dial indicators. If a Hunter GSP9700 machine is available, it may also be used to measure the radial force of the tire/wheel assembly. A guideline here is 18 lbs or less. 5. While on the balancer, measure wheel runout. If radial or lateral runout exceeds .020 in (0.50 mm) for aluminum wheels (.030 in (0.76 mm) for steel wheels), replace the wheel. 6. After confirming wheel balance and wheel runout, if any changes were made, road test the vehicle again. 7. If the smooth road shake/vibration still exists: Important: THE CONTROL ARMS SHOULD ONLY BE INSTALLED ON VEHICLES IF, AFTER THE TIRE AND WHEEL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED, THE VIBRATION CONDITION STILL EXISTS. 8. Replace both lower control arms on vehicles built prior to the following VIN breakpoints. On Aurora, Bonneville, DeVille, Park Avenue, Park Avenue Ultra and Seville models, a newly developed hydro-bushing lower control arm with improved damping characteristics has been released. This control arm is not used on the LeSabre. The new lower control arms may provide an incremental improvement to the vehicle ride. Customers who have become “tuned in” to the shake condition may still feel some shake in the vehicle after the new lower control arms are installed. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement in SI (refer to the Parts Information table below for SI document ID numbers) . Important: The completed worksheet must be attached to the hard copy of the repair order. • If a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force/Balancing machine is used, record radial force variation (RFV) on the worksheet at the end of this bulletin. If one or more of the tire/wheel assemblies read more than 18 lbs, match mount the tire to the wheel to get below 18 lbs. Readings of 12 lbs or less are preferable for sensitive customers. • If a Coats XR1850 Runout/Balancing Machine is used, record radial runout of the tire/wheel assemblies on the worksheet at the end of this bulletin. If one or more of the tire/wheel assemblies are more than .040, match mount the tire to the wheel to get below .040. Readings of .030 inch or less are preferable for sensitive customers. • If the RFV or runout cannot be reduced to an acceptable level, replace the affected tire(s) under the guidelines of the GM Tire Warranty. • The screened tire program is only available for the General branded tires used on the Buick LeSabre. Complete the tire request form at the end of this bulletin and fax to Continental/General. • Road test the vehicle to ensure the shake/vibration has been eliminated
