A/T Interlock System Circuit Diagram SHIFT LOCK SYSTEM CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING 1. Press the brake pedal. Are the brake lights ON? YES -Go to step 2. NO -Repair faulty brake light circuit. 2. Connect the HDS to the DLC. Check engine speed and throttle position in the A/T data list. Is the engine speed at idle, and TPS about 0.5 V? YES -Go to step 3. NO -Repair engine speed or throttle position input. 3. Select SHIFT LOCK SOL TEST in MISC. TEST MENU, then carry out shift lock solenoid function test. Does the shift lock solenoid work properly? YES -System circuit is OK. Check the shift lock mechanism, if necessary. NO -Go to step 4. 4. Remove the center console (See CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). 5. Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector. 6. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). 7. Measure the voltage between No. 1 terminal of the shift lock solenoid connector and body ground. Fig. 3: Measuring Voltage Between No. 1 Terminal Of Shift Lock Solenoid Connector & Body Ground Is there battery voltage? YES -Go to step 8. NO -Check for blown No. 21 fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, repair open in the wire between the shift lock solenoid connector and the under-dash fuse/relay box. 8. Shift the shift lever into the P position, and press the brake pedal. Do not press the accelerator. 9. Measure the voltage between shift lock solenoid connector terminals while pressing the brake pedal Fig. 4: Measuring Voltage Between Shift Lock Solenoid Connector Terminals Is there battery voltage? YES -Check the shift lock mechanism. If the mechanism is OK, replace the shift lock solenoid (see Shift Lock Solenoid Replacement ). NO -Check for poor or loose PCM connector terminal E2 at the PCM, and check for an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal E2 and shift lock solenoid connector. If the connection and wire is OK, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. KEY INTERLOCK SYSTEM CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING

1. Disconnect the truck’s battery a. Using a 10mm wrench, disconnect the truck’s battery at the negative terminal in the engine compartment. 2. Expose the OEM ECU a. (Photo 1) Locate the ECU on the passenger’s side of the engine compartment rear bulkhead. b. Rotate the top OEM plug’s grey locking lever “up” and disconnect the plug from the ECU. Note: The plugs have locking levers which must be rotated to remove and install the plugs. Do not force the locking levers or plugs c. Rotate the bottom OEM plug’s grey locking lever “down” and disconnect the plug from the ECU. Note: The plugs have locking levers which must be rotated to remove and install the plugs. Do not force the locking levers or plugs. Photo 1 ECU Photo 23. (Photo 3) Install the PnP harness. a. Install the large and small PnP Plugs into the OEM ECU and rotate the grey locking levers flush to secure them Note: The plugs have locking levers which must be rotated to remove and install the plugs. Do not force the locking levers or plugs b. Position the PnP Case vertically beside the OEM ECU, plug the small OEM plug into the PnP Case, and rotate the grey locking lever flush to secure it. Unscrew the Knob and the Cam 2. Insert the Lock from the front and the LockWasher from the rear and the Lock Clip from the side 3. Push the Lock Clip in fully to hold the Lock and Washer in place. 4. Mount the Lock Cam to the Lock. Turn the key to check the Cam turns freely. You may have to pull the Clip slightly for clearance. 5. Drill four holes through the Cover using the stiffening plate as a template. IMPORTANT: Don’t drill through the center bosses. Contents: Lock Cylinder, Lock Washer Lock Screw, Lock Cam, Lock Clip Stiffening Plate, 4 Carriage Bolt, 4 Nuts, Instructions, Warranty Card Tools Required: Screw Driver, Power Drill with 5 MM drill bit, 11MM Socket Tech Support: 1-800-342-5911 6. Insert the 4 Carriage Bolts from the front and mount the Stiffening Plate with the four nuts. 7. Tighten the four Nuts and turn the key to check for smooth operation

Disassembly 1. Remove dash panel bracket and store bracket in a safe place to prevent damage to mounting capsules. 2. Place column in a vise using both weld nuts of either set A or B, Fig. 29. The vise jaws must clamp onto the sides of weld nuts indicated by arrows shown on set B. Do not place column in vise by clamping onto only one weld nut, by clamping on one weld nut of both sets A and B or by clamping onto the sides not indicated by arrows, as damage to column could result. 3. Inspect steering shaft to determine type of thread used for steering shaft nut. Metric type shafts can be identified by a groove located in area of steering wheel locating splines, while shafts with American type threads do not have this groove. If shaft has metric type threads, the forcing screw of Lock Plate Compressor Tool J-23653 must be removed and replaced with the metric forcing screw J-23653-4 before installing lock plate compressor tool on steering shaft. Compress lock plate using lock plate compressor tool, then pry snap ring from shaft groove and discard wing. Remove lock plate compressor tool and lock plate. 4. Remove directional signal switch, lock cylinder and ignition key warning switch, then remove steering shaft from lower end of column. 5. On power steering columns, remove steering shaft lower bearing from plastic adapter at lower end of column. 6. Remove four turn signal housing to column jacket retaining screws and remove housing and shroud assembly. 7. Remove three shroud to signal housing retaining screws and remove shroud. 8. Using hand as shield to prevent lock inhibitor lever spring wire from flying out, remove lock inhibitor lever and spring wire. 9. Lift ignition switch actuating rod, rack assembly, shaft lock bolt and spring assembly from housing, then if necessary, remove rack preload spring. 10. Remove ignition switch actuator sector through lock cylinder hole by pushing firmly on block tooth of sector with a blunt punch or screwdriver.

REMOVAL 1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 2. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE Remove the 7 clips and radiator grille. 3. DISCONNECT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE 4. DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVOIR HOSE 5. DISCONNECT LOWER RADIATOR HOSE 6. REMOVE RADIATOR NO.2 FAN SHROUD 7. A/T: DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSES 8. REMOVE RADIATOR Remove the 4 bolts and the radiator. DISASSEMBLY 1. REMOVE NO.1 FAN SHROUD Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 fan shroud. 2. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORTS 3. REMOVE DRAIN PLUG 4. ASSEMBLE SST SST 09230-01010 a. Install the claw to the overhaul handle, inserting it in the hole in part “A” as shown in the diagram. b. While gripping the handle, adjust the stopper bolt so that dimension “B” shown in the diagram is 0.2 – 0.3 mm (0.008 – 0.012 inch). NOTICE: If this adjustment is not done, the claw may be damaged. 5. UNCAULK LOCK PLATES Using SST to release the caulking, squeeze the handle until stopped by the stopper bolt. SST 09230-01010 6. REMOVE TANKS AND O-RINGS a. Lightly tap the radiator port (inlet or outlet) with a soft faced hammer, and remove the tank. b. Remove the O-ring. REASSEMBLY 1. INSPECT LOCK PLATE Inspect the lock plate for damage. HINT: If the sides of the lock plate groove are deformed, reassembly of the tank will be impossible. NOTICE: The radiator can only be recaulked 2 times. After the 2nd time, the radiator core must be replaced. 2. INSTALL NEW O-RINGS AND TANKS a. After checking that there are no foreign objects in the lock plate groove, install the new O-ring without twisting it. HINT: When cleaning the lock plate groove, lightly rub it with sand paper without scratching it. b. Install the tank without damaging the O-ring. c. Tap the lock plate with a soft-faced hammer so that there is no gap between it and the tank. 3. ASSEMBLE SST 09230-01010 a. Install the punch assembly to the overhaul handle, inserting it in the hole in part “A” as shown in the illustration. b. While gripping the handle, adjust the stopper bolt so that dimension “B” shown in the diagram. Dimension “B”: 8.4 mm (0.34 inch) 4. CAULK LOCK PLATE

Material required: – Remote Car Starter – Xpresskit : XK05-PKT2 or Bypasskit :PKT2 – One 5-wire relay for auto lamp circuit Key required for programming: 1 Average installation time: 2.5 hours Difficulty level: Medium 2.0 Preparation: -Remove the driver’s side under dash, as well as the knee airbag bolts. Move the Airbag aside, but DO NOT DISCONNECT the Airbag connector in order to avoid setting any vehicle codes. -Remove the driver’s side floor heating duct, in order to access the vehicle IMI & IMO wires easily. 3.0 Installation: The remote car starter will be installed in a conventional manner even if the car is equipped with the Smart Key “Push-to-Start” system. 3.01 Main Ignition Harness Connection: Most of the connections will be done behind the Fuse box. This fuse box is located under the driver side underdash. Also, the vehicle’s TACH wire can be found inside vehicle, as per diagram below and it is suggested to use this wire for the remote start tach source. The remote start hood pin switch wire is the only wire which must be run into the engine compartment for safety. Accessory (+): White Ignition 1 (+): Pink Ignition 2 (+): Light Green Starter (+): Grey Tach: Black 3.02 Wiring location for the Bypasskit XK-05 PKT2: The connection for the XK05-PKT2 will be done on the driver side under dash. The wires required are from a 5 wires harness coming from behind the heater module, high above the gas pedal near the firewall. The five wires in this harness are as follows: Blue: transponder IMI (Immobilizer in) wire, which gets cut in two and wired in series. The bottom-half wire connects to the kits Violet/White wire and the top-half wire connects the kits Violet wire. Green: transponder IMO (Immobilizer out) wire, which gets wired in parallel with the kits Orange wire. White/Black, White & Orange… these wire are not used for installation The GREEN LED output wire from the XK05-PKT2 is not required for this installation. The vehicle LED does come on during remote start. 3.03 Wiring location for door locks and factory alarm control: The wires to control the factory alarm and the door locks are located behind the driver’s kick panel. These wires must receive negative pulses. It is mandatory to disarm the OEM alarm system before remote start sequence Grey Unlock Wire : A double pulse unlock (-) output is required to disarm and unlock all doors. The first unlock (-) pulse disarms OEM alarm and unlocks driver’s door, the second pulse will unlock all other doors. In order to disarm the OEM alarm when remote starting, this GREY wire requires a pulse before start, which unlocks the driver’s door. So, if the remote systems unlock output does offer a pulse before start, then connect both the unlock and disarm (-) output wires to the vehicle’s GREY unlock wire. Brown Lock Wire : In order to lock and arm the OEM alarm system a (-) pulse is required for the vehicle’s BROWN lock wire. If the vehicle’s ignition on the alarm will not arm, if locking with remote.

SHAFT LOCK, TURN SIGNAL CANCELLING CAM, UPPER BEARING SPRING, UPPER BEARING SEAT & INNER RACE Disassembly 1. Remove steering wheel as follows: a. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove horn cap from steering wheel by pulling. b. Disconnect horn button wire, then remove telescope lever screws and shaft lock knob screw. c. Remove telescope adjustment lever, steering wheel nut retainer and nut. d. Remove steering wheel with a puller. 2. Remove spacer, bumper, spacer and snap ring retainer (Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5 in Fig. 59 ). 3. Remove shaft lock retainer using lock plate compressor to depress shaft lock. 4. Remove shaft lock and carrier assembly, upper bearing spring, upper bearing seat and inner race. 5. Reverse procedure to install. TURN SIGNAL SWITCH Disassembly 1. Remove SHAFT LOCK, TURN SIGNAL CANCELLING CAM, UPPER BEARING SPRING, UPPER BEARING SEAT & INNER RACE as previously outlined. 2. Place turn signal lever to the right turn position, then remove screw and switch actuator pivot assembly (Nos. 11 and 44 in Fig. 59 ). 3. Remove the screws and the wiring protector (Nos. 10 and 45). 4. Remove turn signal switch, then gently pull wire harness through column housing shroud, column housing and lock housing cover. 5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: a. Torque turn signal switch screws (No. 10 in Fig. 59 ) to 27 inch lbs. and torque screw (No. 11) to 18 inch lbs. BUZZER SWITCH ASSEMBLY & STEERING COLUMN LOCK CYLINDER SET

Steering Column Disassembly CAUTION: Do not remove the steering column, steering wheel and air bag module as an assembly from the vehicle unless the column is locked to prevent rotation, or lower end of steering shaft is wired in such a way to prevent the steering wheel from being rotated, as this will damage the air bag sliding contact. 1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 . 2. Remove steering wheel (3600) as described. 3. Remove steering column from vehicle as described. 4. Remove steering column lower yoke (3N725), steering column upper bearing spring (3520), suspension height sensor control ring (3C131) and steering column bearing tolerance ring (3L539). Lower Steering Column Assembly 5. Remove turn indicator cancel cam (13318) by pushing up with flat-bladed screwdriver. Note direction of flush surface. 6. Remove ignition switch (11572) assembly. 7. Remove bearing retainer (3C610) and steering column upper bearing spring. . Remove steel steering column bearing tolerance ring and steering column bearing sleeve (3518). 9. Remove plastic bearing retainer from ignition switch lock cylinder bore. 10. Remove metal steering column lock housing bearing (3E700) from ignition switch lock cylinder bore. 11. Note position of steering column lock gear (3E717) to actuator lock. Remove steering column lock gear. 12. Remove two pivot bolts. Use caution becausesteering column position spring (3D655) will release when bolts are removed. Remove steering column lock cylinder housing (3511). 13. Remove steering column shaft assembly from steering column. 14. Remove steering column lock lever actuator (3E715) and steering actuator housing (3F723). 15. Remove lower steering column bearing (3517) and steering column lower bearing retainer (3D681).

Driver’s Position Floor Mat Semi-Permanent Installation 1. Necessary Materials • Self-Locking nylon Tie-Wraps (Must be UV-resistant, rated at 50 pounds minimum & 0.19 inches wide, 17 inches long) • Thin Flat-Head Screwdriver • Fine-Pointed Punch • Ruler • Diagonal Cutting pliers 2. Locate, align & punch driver’s floor mat. a) Align & punch directly in front of the driver’s seat mounting bracket in the three locations shown (see red circles in illustration) . b) Punch two holes into the lower left driver’s floor mat as indicated in step 2a. If necessary, enlarge the holes with a thin flat-head screwdriver . 3. Route & fasten self-locking nylon tie-wraps. Self-locking nylon tie-wraps must be UV-resistant, rated at 50 pounds minimum, be 0.19 inches wide, and 17 inches long. a) Route and fasten the self-locking nylon tie-wraps through the floor mat and under the seat mounting bracket as illustrated. b) Repeat step 2 a) for the right side of driver’s floor mat, except puncture only one hole in the mat. c) Tighten the self-locking nylon tie-wraps to remove slack, but do not apply tension or displace the secured floor mat from the clipped position. NOTE: • Some models may require two tie-wraps joined in series to complete routing. • Do not remove seat mounting bracket covers, equipped in some models, during the routing process. 4. Verify correct installation. a) Confirm clearance to electrical wiring connectors and any moving components. b) Verify the self-locking nylon tie-wraps are not too loosely or too tightly fastened as illustrated. c) Verify the floor mat does not interfere with the accelerator pedal throughout its range of travel. NOTE: • Trim excess portion of self-locking nylon tie-wraps and conceal the self-locking portion of the tie-wrap under the seat bracket and/or floor mat. 5. Install Labels a) Install the label on the self-locking nylon tie-wraps. NOTE: Print on Avery® 5260™ using the template provided. b) Make sure to fold over the label so the text is visible from both sides. 6. Check the following pedal operation (fully depress the pedal) to assure the floor mat does not interfere with it. Make sure the vehicle is turned off and in the ‘Park’ positon when testing. ?
