The owner notification will commence in early February, approximately one week after your dealership has been notified. This campaign will be launched in phases. • The first phase will include certain 2007 through 2010 model year Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles equipped with Denso accelerator pedals. These owner letters will be mailed over a period of several weeks. • Additional models, including Camrys equipped with a CTS accelerator pedal will be launched in later phases as the remedy is developed. • Information on additional phases related to Camry (equipped with a CTS accelerator pedal), Avalon, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, Prius, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza will be provided prior to the launch of these phases. If your dealership is contacted by an owner of a Denso pedal equipped Camry who has not yet received a notification, please verify eligibility by confirming through Dealer Daily/TIS prior to performing repairs . Dealers should perform the repair as outlined in the attached Technical Instructions. 2. Vehicles in Dealer Stock • As required by Federal law, dealers are not to deliver any new vehicles in their inventory, which are involved in a safety recall unless the defect has been remedied. However, because this defect does not exist in vehicles in which the driver’s side floor mat is compatible with the vehicle and properly secured you may continue to sell new vehicles (with Denso pedals) that have not received the full remedy if you assure the driver’s position floor mat is semi-permanently secured or place the front driver’s and passenger’s floor mats in the trunk on any vehicles in stock prior to sale or lease. Vehicle safety recall completion can be verified through TIS. • In order to assure established customers receive priority for the safety recall, we request that this campaign remedy be performed on in-stock Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles just prior to vehicle delivery where possible. • A VIN list containing vehicles in dealer stock will be provided shortly

OVERHAUL HINT: Overhaul the RH side by the same procedures with LH side. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID NOTICE: Wash off the brake fluid immediately if it comes into contact with a painted surface. 2. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE 3. Remove the union bolt and a gasket from the disc brake cylinder, then disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder. a. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSY FR LH 4. Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder. a. REMOVE DISC BRAKE PAD KIT FRONT (PAD ONLY) 5. Remove the 2 brake pads with anti-squeal shim. a. 6. Remove the 2 anti-squeal shims from each of 2 brake pads . a. Using a screwdriver, remove the wear indicator from each of 2 brake pads . b. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE 7. 1) Removing the Stock Engine Control Unit a) Access the stock Engine Control Unit (ECU). The location of the ECU on the Toyota Supra is behind the Glove box. b) Remove the Phillips head screw on the bottom of the glove box hinge. Remove the glove box by tilting the box at an angle from side to side and slide it toward you. c) Carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the ECU. Avoid excessive stress or pulling on the wires, as this may damage the wiring harness. Some factory ECU’s use a bolt to retain the factory connectors, and it must be removed before the harness can be disconnected. There may be more than one connector, and they must all be removed without damage to work properly with the AEM ECU. Do not cut any of the wires in the factory wiring harness to remove them. d) Remove the fasteners securing the ECU to the car body, and set it aside. Do not destroy or discard the factory ECU, as it can be reinstalled easily for street use and troubleshooting. 2) Install the AEM Engine Management System. a) Plug the factory wiring harness into the AEM ECU, and position it so that the wires are not pulled tight or stressed. Secure it with the provided Velcro fasteners. NOTE: The fourth 6 position factory connector is not used with the AEM EMS. b) Plug the comms cable into the EMS and into your PC. c) Turn your ignition on but do not attempt to start the engine. d) Upload the base calibration file (.cal) that most closely matches your vehicle’s configuration. (These files can be found in the AEMPro/Startup Calibrations/Toyota folder on your computer’s hard drive) e) Set the throttle range: Select the Configure drop down menu, then ECU Setup | Set Throttle Range and then follow the direction given on the screen. f) Verify the ignition timing by selecting the Configure drop down menu, then ECU Setup | Set Ignition. Use a timing light and compare the physical timing numbers to the Parameter Ignition Timing displayed. Use the Advance/Retard buttons to make the timing number match

Read and understand these instructions BEFORE attempting to install this product. 1) Removing the Stock Engine Control Unit a) Access the stock Engine Control Unit (ECU). The location of the ECU on the Toyota Supra is under the passenger firewall carpet and has a black cover that is removed by 4 10 mm nuts. b) Carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the ECU. Avoid excessive stress or pulling on the wires, as this may damage the wiring harness. Some factory ECU’s use a bolt to retain the factory connectors, and it must be removed before the harness can be disconnected. There may be more than one connector, and they must all be removed without damage to work properly with the AEM ECU. Do not cut any of the wires in the factory wiring harness to remove them. c) Remove the fasteners securing the ECU to the car body, and set it aside. TROUBLE SHOOTING NOTE: See TROUBLE SHOOTING – BASIC PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. 1) If a no-start condition exists and battery is known to be good, connect test light or voltmeter between starter solenoid terminal No. 50 and ground. See Figs. 6 and 7. 2) Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light or voltmeter does not indicate voltage, check main fusible links and large ampere main fuses in engine compartment relay box. If fusible links and fuses are okay, see IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST and/or STARTER RELAY TEST under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. ON-VEHICLE TESTING NOTE: Before testing, ensure battery is fully charged, battery cables and terminal ends are tight and clean, and engine grounds are secure. CLUTCH START SWITCH TEST 1) Switch is located above clutch pedal on bracket. Disconnect wiring harness connector from switch. 2) Connect ohmmeter probes to switch terminals. Depress clutch pedal. If continuity does not exist, adjust or replace clutch start switch. If continuity exists, check circuit to starter relay for open, and check starter relay. See STARTER RELAY TEST. CLUTCH START CANCEL SWITCH TEST 1) Locate switch in left dash panel. Remove right lower instrument panel to access switch connector. Disconnect wiring harness connector from switch pigtail connector. See Fig. 1. 2) Connect negative lead of ohmmeter to terminal No. 1. Ensure continuity does not exist between connector terminals No. 1 and 2, terminals No. 1 and 3, and terminals No. 2 and 3. Check operation of switch by connecting jumper wires from 12-volt battery. Connect positive lead to terminal No. 3 and negative battery lead to terminal No. 1. 3) Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity does not exist between connector terminals No. 1 and 2 until switch button is pushed. When switch button is pushed, switch light should come on and continuity should exist. Disconnect battery and ensure continuity does not exit between terminals No. 1 and 2. IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. For 1996 4Runner, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. 1995 1) Disconnect negative battery cable. Removedriver’s lower instrument panel cover. Remove upper and lower steering column covers if needed. Locate ignition switch wiring harness 8-pin connector. See Figs. 2-3. 2) With ignition switch in LOCK position, there should be no continuity between any terminals. With ignition switch in ACC position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 2 and 3. With ignition switch in ON position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 2 and 3, and between terminals No. 7 and 8. 3) With ignition switch in START position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 4 and 6, and between terminals No. 7 and 8. If continuity is not as specified, replace switch.
