INSTALLATION 1. This kit contains all the necessary parts to operate Edelbrock carburetors in a progressive or 1: 1 type operation. Figure 1 illustrates typical progressive type installation in which the rear carburetor is the primary carb. This simplifies linkage attachment to the vehicle’s existing throttle linkage. 2. Before attaching anything to the carburetors, loosely assemble the major components of the linkage kit using Figure 1 as a guideline. Note that the longer rod will go to the rear carb with the flat facing down, and the short rod goes to the front carb with the flat facing up. The brass bearing blocks should be positioned so that the set screws will tighten against the flat of the short rod, i.e., both bearing block set screws will be up. Attach the aluminum collar to the long rod between the bearing blocks with the set screw against the flat. 3. Attach the linkage assembly to the carbs with the 10-24 allen head screws and locknuts. Attach to the rear carb using one of the brass 518″ O.D. x 3/16″ I.D. shoulder spacers and the tapered brass anti-rotation shoulder spacer in the top hole of the throttle arm (112″ diameter). Note that the shoulder spacer goes on the inside and the anti-rotation spacer goes on the outside of the throttle arm. Attach to the front carb using the 3/16″ hole just below the large hole in the throttle arm. ADJUSTMENT – NOTE: If carburetors are full of fuel, place rags in the carb throats to absorb the fuel discharged when working the throttle linkage. This will prevent flooding and possible damage to the piston rings upon start-up. Be sure to remove the rags before starting engine. 1. Tighten the set screw and locknut on the rear bearing block, making sure that the bearing block is close to the end of the shaft from the front carburetor. 2. Push the throttle arms of both carbs to WOT (Wide Open Throttle), then adjust the aluminum collar to touch the rear brass bearing block. Securely tighten the set screw and locknut on the aluminum collar. 3. Let both throttle arms return to idle position, then adjust the front brass bearing block to almost touch the aluminum collar. Leave about .020″-.030″ clearance to allow for independent idle speed adjustment of each carburetor. Tighten all set screws, locknuts, and bolts at this time. 4. Check for smooth operation of linkage from idle to WOT and note that the rear carb will open about 20″ before starting to open the front carb. Both carbs should reach WOT at the same time. 5. IMPORTANT: Attach a return spring to both carburetors as shown in Figure 1. Use the return spring brackets supplied, bending as necessary for attachment to your engine. Generally the brackets can be attached to the intake manifold using the existing bolts. Use the longer or shorter spring on either the front or rear carburetor as required for your particular application. Check for smooth operation and positive return to idle. 6. Attach existing throttle linkage to rear carburetor using the 3/16″ hole below the large hole in the throttle arm. It may be necessary to shorten your existing linkage rod or cable, or to use an aftermarket cable mounting plate. BEFORE STARTING ENGINE, DOUBLE-CHECK FOR SMOOTH OPERATION OF LINKAGE FROM IDLE TO WIDE OPEN THROTTLE AND FOR POSITIVE RETURN TO IDLE. OPTIONAL 1:l INSTALLATION If 1:l linkage is desired, assemble and attach linkage kit as above, except that the attachment point to the front carburetor’s throttle arm will be the large 112″ hole using the other two 518″ O.D. x 3/16″ I.D. shoulder spacers (similar to the rear carburetor). Adjust the bearing blocks to eliminate all freeplay, so that all motion to the rear carburetor’s throttle arm is transmitted directly to the front carb’s throttle arm

INSTALLATION 1. This kit contains all the necessary parts to operate Edelbrock carburetors in a progressive or 1: 1 type operation. 1. Remove Air Intake Assembly and intake box from throttle body. 2. Remove throttle linkage bracket. 3. Remove the vacuum line clip and on some models the linkage bracket. 4. Remove the nuts and studs from the throttle body. 5. Install the JET Power-Flo spacer using one gasket between the throttle body and spacer and one gasket between the spacer and the manifold with the supplied longer bolts and lock washers. 6. Install the throttle linkage extender plate and reinstall the throttle linkage bracket. On the models referenced above that have a second throttle linkage bracket, use the other extender and attach the vacuum line clip to the bottom of the extension plate. 7. Verify that the throttle linkage, cruise control and kick down cables are NOT binding and that the travel on the linkage is correct before you start the vehicle. NOTE: In some instances it may be necessary to readjust the cables for proper travel. Refer to your factory service manual for correct adjustment procedures. 8. Reinstall the Air Intake Assembly.

DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) BATTERY CABLE. 2. Remove throttle body air intake assembly. 3. Remove throttle linkage bracket and save 10mm bolt. (Ref. “D”) 4. Remove vacuum line clip, and also linkage bracket used on some models. Save the 8mm bolt for models having a linkage bracket. (Ref. “E”) 5. Remove nuts and studs from the throttle body. (Ref. “C”) 6. Install the power plate using (2) gaskets, (4) 8mm bolts, and (4) 8mm lock washers. (Ref. “A”, “B”, “C”) A. Install one gasket between the throttle body and power plate. B. Install second gasket between the power plate and manifold. 7. Install throttle linkage plate using a 10mm x 20mm bolt and reinstall the throttle linkage bracket using saved 10mm bolt. (Ref. “D”) 8. Install extension plate using 8mm flat head screw and reinstall linkage bracket used on some models with saved 8mm bolt. Attach vacuum line clip to bottom side of extension plate using furnished 8mm bolt. (Ref. “E”) 9. Inspect & Test throttle linkage for full open & closed travel before driving. Some cruise or kickdown cables may require adjustment. Please refer to your vehicles service manual for proper adjusting. 10. Reinstall air intake system using Step 2 as an example. 11. Reconnect battery cable. Enjoy!

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect battery negative cable. 2. Disconnect throttle body from Mass Air Flow Sensor boot and disconnect all lines from throttle body (linkage, water, vacuum, etc.). 3. Remove linkage attachments from plenum and move out of the way. Disconnect plenum from runners and remove (it is not necessary to remove throttle body from plenum). You may need to loosen lower runner bolts in order to free plenum. 4. Remove runners from baseplate and loosen, but do not remove the fuel rails. 5. Trial fit your new intake runners prior to final installation on your vehicle. This way you can get a “feel”for what goes where and why. NOTE: Because of varying O.E.M. fuel line routing, some material may need to be removed from the runners in order to clear the fuel lines. Check for clearance before installing onto engine. 6. Thoroughly clean the flange surfaces of the plenum, runners, and baseplate and remove any remaining gasket material. Use rags or paper towels in the open ports to make sure your intake system is kept free of all foreign objects (i.e., dirt, gasket material, etc.). 7. Place runners into position on the baseplate making sure to use the proper runner/gasket on the proper side and start bolts. 8. Tighten down fuel rails and place plenum into position. Start bolts, but do not tighten (make sure proper gaskets are used). 9. Align plenum and runners and tighten all runner and plenum bolts. 10. Reconnect all connections and linkage to the throttle body and reconnect the throttle body to Mass Air Flow Sensor boot. If clearance is a problem, it may be necessary to discard the original steel hard line which runs from the O.E.M. baseplate to a rubber hose connecting to the charcoal canister and replace with a rubber hose. On the passenger’s side of the engine, discard the original hard line (if so equipped) which ran from the valve cover vent to the throttle body and replace with 3/8″ rubber hose if necessary for clearance. 11. Check and top off any lost coolant, reconnect battery, and start engine and run briefly, monitoring the “check engine”light. Turn off engine and check installation for any leaks or abnormalities

1. Remove the air cleaner duct from throttle body. 2. Unbolt the throttle linkage from the intake plenum by unbolting the single 12mm-sized bolt. 3. Unbolt the lower vacuum line from intake plenum. Remove the four bolts (some models may have bolt/stud combination, either case they all need to be removed) from the intake manifold. 4. Separate throttle body from the intake plenum and remove the OE gasket. Place the Helix Power Tower PLUS (engraved side towards throttle body) with the new gaskets in between the throttle body and the intake plenum. Secure with the new longer bolts supplied with this kit. On 2003-2004 models you will need to use the longer 8mmx110mm bolts to complete the installation. Torque the assembly to 15 ft/lbs. 5. Install the throttle linkage extender plate to plenum (original stock location) with OE bolt. Please make sure the roll pin of the plate is in locator hole on plenum. Reinstall the throttle linkage to the extender plate and use the supplied hardware to secure it to the new extender plate. Torque both bolts to 10 ft/lb. 6. Install new vacuum line extender (black z-bend bracket) to original location with OE bolt and install vacuum line bracket to this extender with the supplied hardware. Torque both bolts to 8 ft/lb. (Note: it may be necessary to lengthen the linkage cable and vacuum line from the intake plenum anchor points) 7. Reinstall the air cleaner duct to the throttle body.

Replacement Procedure: 1. Turn ignition OFF. Remove engine cover and disconnect electrical connector from TP Sensor. 2. Remove two (2) retaining screws from TP Sensor and remove from throttle body. 3. Install new TP Sensor to throttle body. Install retaining screws and hand tighten lightly. Adjustment will be required. Re-install electrical connector to TP Sensor. 4. Install Global Diagnostic System. a. Select “System Option” b. Select “Idle RPM Adjust Mode” c. Apply Parking Brake 5. Select Neutral position and place engine in idle condition with A/C OFF. 6. Remove rubber plug and adjust using instructions provided on screen. Set Base idle between 800~900 rpm Adjust TPS: 7. Using the GDS scan tool, monitor current data using two (2) parameters: • Closed Throttle Position Switch • Throttle Position Voltage Value 8. Open throttle by hand very slowly until idle switch status switches to OFF. Note the TPS voltage value. Voltage:____________________________ 9. Close throttle and record the TPS voltage. oltage:____________________________ Closed throttle voltage should be 30~65mV less than the voltage noted in step eight (8). Adjust TP Sensor and repeat test as required. WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION: 10. Tighten TP Sensor screws as required. Torque is 12~18 inch lbs. Verify switching of throttle switch with throttle plate movement. 11. Install engine cover. 12. Clear any stored DTC which may have set during service procedure. Remove GDS tool from vehicle

Remove the throttle blade screws and blades, keeping them in order of removal. 4. Slide the throttle shaft out of the throttle body. 5. CARBURETOR (COROLLA) REMOVAL 1) Drain cooling system. Disconnect air intake hose. Disconnect emission control hoses from air cleaner. Remove air cleaner mounting bolt and wing nut. Remove air cleaner. 2) Disconnect accelerator cable. Disconnect throttle cable (A/T). Disconnect carburetor wiring connector. Disconnect emission control hoses and tag for installation. Disconnect fuel inlet hose. Remove 4 carburetor mounting nuts and No. 1 vacuum pipe. Remove carburetor. DISASSEMBLY Air Horn 1) Remove air cleaner setting bolt. Remove fuel pipe clamp, union, fuel pipe and gaskets. Remove vacuum hoses. Remove pump and pivot screw and pump arm with connecting link. Disconnect choke link and choke opener link. 2 Remove 8 air horn screws and number plate, fuel pipe support and wire clamps. Remove air horn from carburetor body. Disconnect wiring from solenoid valves. 3) Remove float pivot pin, float and needle valve assembly. Remove air horn gasket, needle valve seat and gasket, power piston retainer, power piston and spring. Remove pump plunger and boot. See Fig. 2.

Disconnect throttle positioner links and remove bracket attaching bolts. Remove accelerator pump retainer gasket and remove pump discharge weight, long spring and discharge large ball. See Fig. 1. 2) Remove pump dampening spring. Using tweezers, remove plunger retainer and check ball. Disconnect throttle positioner link and throttle position levers, washer and spring. Remove primary and secondary main passage plugs and gaskets. Remove primary and secondary main jets and gaskets. 3) Remove auxiliary acceleration pump (AAP) housing, spring and diaphragm. Remove AAP inlet plug and check ball. Remove outlet plug, short spring and small ball. Remove primary and secondary small venturies. 4) Remove sight glass retainer, sight glass and “O” ring. Remove throttle lever return spring and back spring. Remove throttle lever and fast idle cam. 5) Disconnect link and remove secondary throttle valve diaphragm assembly and gasket. Remove throttle position switch and bracket. Remove 3 body-to-flange screws and vacuum passage screw. Separate body from flange. See Fig. 3. Remove washer from throttle valve shaft. Remove idle mixture adjusting screw and idle speed adjusting screw.

Note: Test and adjust lambda control with a lambda control tester. The lambda control and the idle speed emissions level must not be tested when the engine is very hot, e.g. immediately after driving sharply or after measuring engine output on the dynamometer. Testing, adjusting 1 Complete measurement sheet. 2 Switch off air conditioning or automatic climate control. Move selector lever into position “P”. 3 Read out DTC memory. Note: Not available on model year 1984-1986. 4 Connect testers: oil remote thermometer (018)124 589 07 21 00 lambda control tester (012) twin socket (031) trigger clamp (011) exhaust probe (005)126 589 11 63 00 CO measuring instrument (006) engine tester with oscilloscope (030) multimeter (003) test cable (033)102 589 04 63 00. 5 Position extraction device (014) at exhaust tail pipe. 6 Check engine coolant level, adjust to correct level. 7 Check engine oil level, pay attention to condition of oil (visual inspection). 8 Take off air cleaner. 9 Check ease of movement and condition of throttle control linkage and throttle valve. Grease all bearing points and ball sockets. 10 Check fulcrum lever, adjust. Check whether the roller (15) in the fulcrum lever (13) is resting free of tension against end stop. Adjust fulcrum lever (13) with the connecting rod (2), if necessary, so that the roller (15) is resting free of tension against end stop. 11 Idle stop. Check whether the throttle valve is resting against idle stop. Disconnect connecting rod (2) for this step. Adjust throttle control. Engines with cruise control only. Check whether the actuator is resting against idle stop of cruise control by pressing the lever of the actuator clockwise against idle stop at cruise control. When attaching the connecting rod (21), ensure that the lever of the actuator is lifted approx. 1 mm off the idle stop at the cruise control. Adjust tie rod, if necessary. Adjust throttle control. 12 Check wide open throttle stop from the accelerator pedal , adjust. 13 Voltages Test (battery and ignition coil ): No-load voltage Connect voltmeter to the battery, paying attention to the polarity, and take reading of voltage. Specification: 12.2 volts . Ignition coil Switch on ignition with engine not running. Test the voltage terminal 15 to ground at contact 5 of diagnostic connector. Specification: battery voltage Test difference in voltage between terminal 15 and terminal 1 at contacts 5 and 4 of diagnostic connector. Specification: 0 volts If the specified values are not reached, test
