Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Solenoid Valve Replacement Pickup Removal Procedure Important Clean the evaporative emission (EVAP) connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting the fittings in order to avoid possible system contamination. 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 2. Remove the harness clip from the canister vent solenoid (CVS) line. 3. Disconnect the CVS electrical connector. 2004 Chevrolet Chevy K Silverado – 4WD 4. If the vehicle is equipped with a 6 ft box, disconnect the EVAP CVS line from the canister. 5. Remove the CVS clip from the frame crossmember. 6. Push in the retainer and remove the CVS from the fuel tank clip. 7. If the vehicle is equipped with a 8 ft box, disconnect the EVAP CVS line from the canister. 8. Remove the CVS clip from the frame crossmember. 9. Push in the retainer and remove the CVS from the fuel tank clip. Installation Procedure 1. If the vehicle is equipped with a 8 ft box, install the CVS to the fuel tank until the clip engages. Important On vehicles equipped with a 8 ft box, the CVS line is routed below the frame crossmember. 2. Install the CVS clip to the frame crossmember. 3. Connect the EVAP CVS line to the canister. 4. If the vehicle is equipped with a 6 ft box, install the CVS to the fuel tank until the clip engages. Important On vehicles equipped with a 6 ft box, the CVS line is routed above the frame crossmember. 5. Install the CVS clip to the frame crossmember. 6. Connect the EVAP CVS line to the canister. 7. Connect the CVS electrical connector. 8. Install the harness clip to the canister vent solenoid (CVS) line. 9. Lower the vehicle.

1. Based upon stored fault codes for secondary air system, there is little or no flow of secondary air into engine. Typical causes for this issue are failed secondary air pumps and/or secondary air check valves. Secondary air pump should operate under normal circumstances when vehicle is first started to perform system test. Pump will normally be heard running when standing in front right corner of vehicle. 2. The secondary air pump is located in the right front of engine compartment. A secondary air pump relay located in the glove box is controlled by the engine control module and sends power to the secondary air pump. 3. Air pump can be disconnected and supplied with power and ground at pump to verify operation is possible. 4. Check valve on front right of cylinder head can be supplied with vacuum and visually checked for opening of valve. 5. Vacuum line from check valve to operating solenoid should also be inspected for cracks or being disconnected. Vacuum line follows right side of cylinder head to back of cylinder head to the secondary air solenoid located under left rear side of intake manifold. 6. The solenoid should allow vacuum flow to the check valve during vacuum pump operation. The solenoid is controlled directly by the engine control module and receives power during key-on-engine-off. Potential Causes: A.I.R. Check Valve Engine Control Module (ECM) Codes — Engine control module fault. IF YOU CONFIRM The ABS light is ON with one or more of the following DTC stored, • C1105 – RR RH Sensor 2 • C1110 – Controller Failure • C1124 – RR LH IN ABS SOL • C1126 – RR RH IN ABS SOL and/or The ABS system activates with normal braking. ACTIONS 1. Remove only the right rear brake rotor, wheel hub assembly, baffle plate and ABS wheel sensor. 2. Clean the corrosion off of the knuckle, wheel hub assembly, and baffle plate. 3. Grind a notch in the knuckle locating hole (locating hole for plastic hub cap). 4. Reassemble using the new plastic hub cap and a new ABS wheel sensor. 5. If code C1126 and/or C1124 is stored; replace the ABS actuator. 6. Test drive vehicle; recheck for code C1110 (refer to step 10 in the Service Procedure). IMPORTANT: The purpose of “ACTIONS” (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. Since the 2005 model year, all BCM’s (Body Control Modules) are programmed from the factory to lock all doors when the transmission is shifted into gear or vehicle speed is greater than 8 mph (13 km/h). There is no option to disable the auto door locks from the factory, but if an owner wishes to have the auto door locks disabled the following procedure can be performed: 1. Use the following procedure to disable the auto door locks on the models listed below: 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT 2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado (new body style), Suburban, Tahoe 2007-2008 GMC Sierra (new body style), Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL Reprogram the BCM with updated calibrations currently available in Tis2Web. In some rare instances, the calibrations may not be available in Tis2Web and Techline Customer Support should be contacted to obtain the calibrations. When at the “Calibration Selection” screen in Tis2Web, select “locking” (should be highlighted in Red) and pick the calibration listed as “(Per Customer Request Only) Auto door locks off, option no longer in DIC”.

1) First perform an indicator check to see if all the lights are working properly. Press and hold the AUTO & REC buttons and then start the car. Release the buttons after the car has started. All the lights should light up and go off 4 times in a row at one second intervals. You should also hear a beep as the indicators light up. After the indicators blink 4 times you’re in A/C diagnostic mode. 2) Read the code displayed on the LCD. Here you see a code 21; this can happen if you’re not in light because it refers to the solar sensor. 3) Here’s what normal will look like, code 00. When the codes are displayed they blink and beep. Here are all the codes that can be displayed……… Code – Meaning 00 – Normal 11 – Open or short in room temperature sensor circuit. 12 – Open or short in ambient temperature sensor circuit. 13 – Open or short in evaporator temperature sensor circuit. 14 – Open or short in water temperature sensor circuit. 21* – Open or short in solar sensor circuit. 22* – Compressor motor locked. And/or, open or short in compressor lock sensor circuit. 31 – Open or short in air mix damper position sensor circuit. 32 – Open or short in air inlet damper position sensor circuit. 33 – Open in air mix damper position sensor circuit. Or, open or short in air mix servomotor circuit. Or, air mix servomotor locked. 34 – Open in air inlet damper position sensor circuit. Or, open or short in air inlet sensor servomotor circuit. Or, air inlet servomotor locked. * – These are detected only when they are the current troubles. Other codes detect both current trouble (beep) and past trouble (no beep). A/C indicator light blinks – This means your A/C compressor is locked. It’s happened to me before and I needed a new (rebuilt) compressor installed. 4) Once you’ve read any codes you can proceed to performing an actuator check by pressing the REC button. This will start a check of different combinations for the system starting with code 20 and moving up to 29. To cancel this or the previous diagnostic modes simply press the OFF button.

OK NOT OK Fault Code 368 inactive Fault Code 368 active and no other active fault codes present Applicable fault code(s) Go to 2A Guided Step 2 – Perform low pressure system checks. Guided Step 2A – Record findings for inlet restriction. Conditions Turn keyswitch OFF. Action Install a restriction gauge at the lift pump inlet. Install a pressure gauge at the fuel filter inlet. Refer to Procedure 005-045 (Fuel Lift Pump) in Section 5 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, ISB and QSB5.9 Engines, Bulletin 3666193. Install a clear line at the fuel filter outlet and run the line into a bucket. With gauges and the clear line in place, bump the starter and leave the keyswitch ON. The lift pump will run for 25 to 30 seconds. While the
lift pump is running, record the inlet restriction. Note: Steps 2A through 2D can be observed and recorded with a single bump of the starter. OK NOT OK Restriction less than 152 mm Hg [6 in Hg] Inlet restriction greater than 152 mm Hg [6 in Hg] Find source of excessive restriction between the lift pump inlet and fuel tank. Fix the source of excessive restriction

With the ignition switch in the RUN position, test for battery voltage at the circuit fuse in the transmission solenoid power supply circuit. Refer to the appropriate SI Document for the transmission solenoid power supply circuit information. 2. If battery voltage is present at the fuse, inspect the ignition voltage circuit between the fuse and the transmission for possible opens. 3. If battery voltage is not present at the fuse, test for continuity between the fuse and the ignition switch. If NO ontinuity is between the fuse and the ignition switch, repair the open in that circuit. 4. If you have continuity between the fuse and the ignition switch, the most likely cause is the ignition switch. Replace the ignition switch using the appropriate Ignition Switch Replacement procedure in SI. Refer to group number 2.188 of the parts catalog for part description and usage of the ignition switch. Blower Motor Resistor Replacement Notes BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR REPLACEMENT REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. If equipped, remove the IP sound insulator. 2. Disconnect the electrical connection from the blower motor . 3. Disconnect the electrical connection from the blower motor resistor 4. Remove the blower motor resistor retaining screws. 5. Remove the blower motor resistor. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the blower motor resistor. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 2. Install the blower motor resistor retaining screws. Tighten Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in) . 3. Connect the electrical connection to the blower motor resistor. 4.
