2 Side Bar Kit – Kit 84801 Before Starting Installation 1. Carefully read all warnings and instructions completely before beginning. 2. Verify all parts have been received in this kit by checking the parts list at the end of this document. 3. Only install this kit on the vehicle for which it is specified. If anytime during the installation you encounter something different from what is outlined in the instructions, call technical support at (928) 636-3176. 4. Special tools needed: a. 17/64″ drill bit 5. Park vehicle on a clean, dry, flat, level surface and block tires so vehicle cannot roll in either direction. Engine Compartment 1. Disconnect both battery cables. Disconnect negative cable first, then positive cable. 2. Factory Side Bars a. Remove factory side bars if present. NOTE Kit parts are prefaced by the word kit and appear in bold print. NOTE If parts are missing from kit, please be prepared to provide the following information: 1. Name of purchase location 2. Bar Code on side of box 3. Date above bar code 4. Date inside box cover 5. Inspector # from inside box cover Positive Cable Negative Cable Prepare to Install Kit Drivers Side of Vehicle 1. Install kit brackets (body mounted). a. Install two kit brackets (body mounted) along driver side of vehicle using either two factory installed bolts per bracket,.or kit supplied 8mm bolts b. Repeat previous step on pass. side of vehicle. 2. Side Bars a. Insert kit sleeve into kit side bar (rear). Install kit bolt (7/16″ x 1″) and kit washer (7/16 USS flat) into kit sleeve . Underside of Body Kit Bracket Kit Side Bar (front) Short End Kit Side Bar (rear) Long End Side Bar (Passenger Side) Kit Sleeve 3 Side Bar Kit – Kit 84801 b. Install kit side bar (front) onto kit sleeve . Install kit bolt (7/16″ x 1″) and kit washer (3/8 USS flat) into kit sleeve . Install Side Bars on Vehicle 1. Install steps on vehicle a. Install the kit side bar assembly (driver) onto kit body brackets using four kit bolts (1/2″ X 1-1/ 4″), four kit washers (1/2″ flat), four kit sleeves (7/8″ OD), and four kit nuts (flange). Install the kit bolts into the outer holes in the kit body brackets . DO NOT TIGHTEN. NOTE The side bar can be installed in two positions. It can be installed so that the steps are flat or it can be installed with the steps slightly angled downward. Kit bolt (7/16″ x 1″), Kit Washer (3/8 USS flat ) Kit Body Bracket Outer Holes Kit Bolts (1/2 X1-1/4″) b. Determine desired position for the steps. Install four kit bolt (7/16″ x 3 1/2″), four kit washers (7/ 16″), and four kit nuts (flange nut) as indicated below. c. Tighten all mounting bolts on driver side of vehi- cle. d. Repeat for passenger side of vehicle. Install Step Pads on Side Bar 1. Step Pads a. Position kit step pads on center of kit side bar hoop . Ensure the kit step pad is level and mark two locations on each pad to drill

Step 1: Measure current front ride height. Take a measurement from the bottom of the wheel/rim to the lip of the fender on each side of the vehicle. Write down measurements to help in determining ride height after new kit is installed. (Figure A) Step 2: Position vehicle on a flat surface or automotive lift. Suspend front wheels , lifting by the frame with a floor jack or lift jack. Secure using jack stands and wheel chocks. Be sure engine is turned OFF and vehicle is in PARK. Remove tire/wheel assembly on ONE side of vehicle . Step 3: Support Spindle to protect ABS system and brake lines! LOOSEN, but don’t completely remove upper ball joint nut, outer tie rod nut and sway bar link nut at the lower control arm. Step 4 : Break Outer tie rod and ball joint from their tapers using tools specific to this procedure. CAREFULLY, while supporting the spindle assembly, completely remove upper ball joint nut & tie rod nut, leaving the loosened sway bar link nut in place. ( Figure B) Step 5: Remove strut assembly from the vehicle. Remove LOWER strut bolt first, followed by the three (3) upper strut nuts. CAUTION! BE EXTREMELY CAREFULL TO SUPPORT STRUT ASSEMBLY WHEN REMOVING UPPER STRUT NUTS! The Strut/Spring assembly is heavy and can cause injury to technician or damage to other components if released too quickly! (Figure C) Step 6: Apply 50% of the INCLUDED Synthetic Grease to the TOP of the THREADED INNER ADJUSTMENT SCREW, as illustrated. (Figure D) Step 7: Using the original OEM stud nuts , secure new Adjustable Upper Strut Kit to OEM upper strut studs and torque to manufacturer’s specifications. (Figure E) IMPORTANT! Be sure the Threaded Adjustment Screw Rotates FREELY after securing kit to OEM top of strut! If not, slightly loosen the three upper stud nuts and reposition Threaded Adjuster Screw UPWARD slightly. Retorque upper stud nuts to manufacturer’s specifications and recheck that Inner Adjuster Screw rotates freely. Step 8: Install the Top Connection Plate ONLY, studs directed UPWARD, into position in the strut tower, and secure with the NEW Nylock stud nuts supplied with this kit. Torque stud nuts to OEM specifications. (Figure F) Step 9: Reinstall strut assembly . Be sure the new Adjustable Upper Strut Kit is THREADED DOWN in the MOST COMPACT POSITION for easiest reassembly, then pass exposed threaded area of the kit THROUGH the center of the Top Connection Plate already installed. HINT: The use of a pry bar or breaker bar may simplify reinstallation of the Strut Assembly. (Figure G) Step 10: Install Large 1-1/4-12 Adjustment Locking Jam Nut included with this kit and tighten until snug to Top Connection Plate. Install Snap Ring included with kit.

1. Check to see that the spacer kit you purchased matches the year and model of your vehicle. Spacer kits two inches or taller may require a spring compressor to install. Ball joint and tie rod forks may also be useful. 2. A good portion of your front suspension will be disassembled so this would be a good time to replace any worn parts (i.e. tie rod ends, ball joints, idler arm and any bushings) Replace bushings with polyurethane replacement parts. 3. Jack up vehicle as high as possible using jack stands for support at all times. 4. With vehicle safely off the ground remove front tires. It is advisable to disassemble on side at a time so that you can use the other side as a reference for re-assembly in the event you get side tracked. 5. Remove the brake caliper from the rotor (attached with 2 bolts inside the caliper or with press-in clips depending on the vehicle). Do not remove the brake line from the caliper unless you intend to bleed the brakes at this time. Set the caliper aside or tie it up to the frame rail. Avoid pinching the brake line. 6. Remove the tie rod from the spindle using the proper tools. Do not hit the tie rod itself or the nut on the threaded portion of the tie rod or it may cause damaged and need replacing. 7. Remove the anti-sway bar from the lower control arm. This would be a good time to replace the end link bushings with polyurethane replacement bushings. 8. If your vehicle is equipped with anti-lock brakes you must now disconnect the front rotor sensor from the dust shield or spindle and set it aside. 9. Disconnect your shock absorber completely from the vehicle whether it is mounted inside the coil spring or not. 10. Support the lower control arm with jack just touching the arm. This will prevent it from dropping when the ball joint is disconnected. 11. The use of a coil spring compressor is recommended before the following steps are taken. 12. Disconnect the upper ball joint from the top of the spindle using the proper tools. Do not hit the ball joint or the threaded end of the ball joint. Once the ball joint is free the spindle should move easily. 13. Be careful when lowering the lower control arm. The coil spring is under high compression and may shoot out when released. Do not stand near the side of the truck during this step. Lower the jack so that the lower control arm swings down. If the coil spring has not fallen out on it’s own you may need to use a pry bar from the front of the vehicle to remove it. 14. Note which end of the coil spring is “bottom” for installation. Also note the depression in the lower control arm. It is important that the last winding of the coil spring fit into the indentation completely so that the vehicle will sit level. Do not switch coil springs from side to side as some vehicles have a specific “right” and “left” coil spring. 15. Check the coil spacer for proper fitment into the coil spring mount in the frame. The flat part of the spacer should face up and touch the top of the spring mount. Some vehicles have guiding tabs to center the coil spring in its top mount. These tabs may have become bent and need to be bent back to allow the spacer to properly fit in the mount. 16. Install the coil spring with the spacer on top of it. If used the coil spring compressor should still be on the spring in a compressed state. If it is not you may need to compress the spring before re-installing. Make sure the spacer is centered in the upper mount and the bottom of the spring is properly nested in the receptor groove on the lower control arm. If you are installing a two-inch or taller spacer you may need a spring compressor. Follow all safety rules when installing the coil spring as it will be under extreme compression. 17. Raise the lower control arm with a jack once the coil spring and spacer are properly lined up. Raise until the spindle is high enough to bolt on the upper ball joint. Before bolting on the upper ball joint make sure the brake caliper and brake line are where they need to be since some brake lines run inside the spindle and outside the coil spring. 18. With the upper ball joint tight and a cotter pin re-installed you may now remove the jack from under the lower control arm. 19. Assemble all of the components previously removed (sway bar with new polyurethane bushings, tie rod ends with polyurethane grease boot, brake caliper and anti-lock sensor). Don’t forget the shock with a new colored boot while it is off. 20. Repeat instructions for other side. 21. After properly installing both spacers you can install your front tires and lower vehicle back to the ground. 22. Your vehicle may sit too high at first because the suspension needs to settle. Carefully back the vehicle up and drive forward a few times using the brakes frequently. Park on level ground and check out your lift. 23. The vehicle will now require a front wheel alignment. Failure to do so may result in severe wear on your tires and may pull to one direction

1. With the truck on the ground, remove the track bar bolt at the differential Lift truck up, and make sure it is safe by using jack stands or a 2-post lift that locks in place. 1. Support the front axle with a support jack equipped with the proper fixture. 2. Undo the sway bar links. 3. Undo the four U-bolts on the passenger side leaf springs ONLY. Make sure the differential is supported as it may fall at this point. 4. If the truck has hydraulic shocks, just slide them up and out of the way. If the truck has gas shocks, it will be easier to remove them. Caster Left Caster Right Camber Left Camber Right Toe-in Need Camber Kit? 3 3.5 0 -1/4 -1/32 No Alignment Specifications: 1999-2004 Ford SuperDuty 4×4 Lift and Level Kit Installation 5. On the drivers side, LOOSEN but DO NOT REMOVE the U-bolts on the drivers side leaf springs. This will enable the passenger side to sag enough to get the Lift and Level kit into place. 6. Remove the center bolt on the passenger side. 7. Install the Lift and Level kit with new center bolt on the passenger side. You may wish to cut off any extra length of the center bolt once it is installed and tightened. 8. Slide the shock back on and use the pair of U-bolts to clamp the leaf springs together. DO NOT TIGHTEN the nuts on the U-bolts, just snug them enough to hold the assembly together. 9. Repeat steps from 3 to 8, using the other pair of U-bolts on the drivers side leaf spring assembly 10. Tighten all 8 U-bolts after both spring packs are installed. 11. Re-attach the sway bar links 12. Put the truck on the ground before re-attaching the trackbar. Have an assistant start the truck and turn the steering wheel until the trackbar lines up. Re-install trackbar bolt and check all the fasteners for correct torque. Test drive and align vehicle. Always check fasteners after the first test drive

Installation of this body lift kit without proper knowledge of the factory recommended procedures might affect the performance of these components and the safety of your vehicle. It is strongly recommended that a certified mechanic who is familiar with the installation of similar components install this body lift kit. 2. Park the vehicle on a clean, dry, flat, level surface. Block the tires so the vehicle cannot roll in either direction. 3. Disconnect both battery cables. Be sure to disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive cable. 4. Before you begin lifting the vehicle, you need to measure and record the bumper to vehicle gaps and also the distance between the cab and the bed. These dimensions will allow you to retain the factory spacing at these locations. WARNING This body lift kit should only be installed on vehicles that are in good working condition. Before the installation begins, the vehicle should be thoroughly inspected for evidence of corrosion or deformation of the sheet metal around the factory body mounts. This body lift kit should not be installed on any vehicle that is suspected to have been in a collision, or misused. Off road use of your vehicle with this body lift installed may increase the stress applied to the factory body mounts. It is not recommended that any vehicle, with a body lift installed, be involved in any extreme off road maneuvers. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious personal injury and/or serious damage to your vehicle. 5. Remove the center shifter console, shift boot, and plate. Remove the doorsill plates and the kick panels. Carefully lift the carpet to expose the cab-mounting bolts. Loosen but do not remove all cab mounting bolts. 6. Carefully mark the splines on the steering shaft in the engine compartment at the steering box and steering column so that the shaft can be reinstalled in the original orientation. Remove the shaft from the vehicle. 7. Release the parking-brake- cable clip from the firewall. 8. Remove the parking brake cable from the frame clip 1 next to the battery. 9. Release the clutch line from the clip on the lower portion of the firewall. Loosen the clutch line from the clip on the firewall located behind the carburetor. Reroute the clutch line underneath the heater hose closest to the passenger side of the vehicle. 10. If the vehicle is equipped with power steering, loosen the clamp just behind the grill that holds the serpentine cooling line and push the line toward the firewall. Loosen both brackets that hold the cooler. Adjust the hoses that are attached to get more hose clearance. 11. Relocate the engine ground strap from the firewall to the lower throttle cable bolt on the firewall. 12. Automatic transmission only. Remove the transmission linkage between the steering column and the transmission. Disconnect the transfer case shifter from the “C” shaped linkage. 13. Remove the oxygen sensor wire from the clip underneath the cab and make sure there is enough slack to allow for the lift 14. Remove the front bumper and lower valance. 15. Remove the two bolts that mount the fan shroud to the radiator. Pull the fan shroud up out of the clips on the bottom of the radiator. Lay the fan shroud over the fan away from the radiator. WARNING Use extreme caution when working with the engine cooling system. Never remove the radiator cap from a hot radiator. Wait until the engine and radiator has cooled and the pressure in the system has dissipated. Use care not to spill any antifreeze/coolant while draining system. Immediately clean up any spilled fluids. Antifreeze can be harmful to the environment. Take care to store the drained antifreeze/coolant in a place away from children and animals. Antifreeze/coolant can be fatal if swallowed.

1. To begin installation, block rear wheels and apply parking brake so that the vehicle is stable and cannot roll forward or back. Lift front of the vehicle on appropriate lift points, such as the frame, and support the frame with jack stands on both passenger and driver sides. Remove front wheels. 2. Position a floor jack under the front axle and raise jack until it makes contact with the front axle. (See Figure 1) 3. On the drives side, place an index mark on the stock coil spring and another index mark directly across from the first mark on the lower coil spring perch. This will allow you to reinstall the stock coil spring in its original position. Repeat step 3 on passenger side. 4. Disconnect top nut on sway bar end links on driver and passenger side, set nut, retainer, and bushing aside. Pivot sway bar up and out of the way. (See Figure 1) 5. Disconnect nut from passenger side drag link (outer tie rod end). Hit steering knuckle with a hammer at the point where the drag link stud comes through. This will break the stud loose from the steering knuckle. Breaking the stud loose may require the use of a ball joint separator. Gently tap the stud down through the knuckle. Be careful not to harm the stud or stud threads. Moving this out of the way allows access to the passenger lower shock bolt. (See Figure 1) 6. On driver’s side, locate the top of shock absorber stud, located in the engine compartment. Remove the top nut, retainer washer, and grommet from the shock. (See Figure 2) NOTE: Save these parts, they will need to be reinstalled later. Repeat step 6 on passenger side. 7. On driver’s side, remove the (3) stock nuts from the upper shock tower and set upper shock tower aside for reinstallation later. (See Figure 3) Repeat step 7 on passenger side. 8. On driver’s side, remove bolt from the lower shock mount through access hole below the coil spring. Save hardware for reinstallation. Remove shock from access in engine compartment. (See Figure 4) Repeat step 8 on passenger side. 9. Carefully lower floor jack enough to allow the removal of the stock coil spring. On driver’s side, remove the coil spring and the rubber isolation pad and set aside for later reinstallation. Remove ring that retains the shock tower bolts and discard . Repeat step 9 on passenger side. NOTE: Removal of the passenger coil spring may require the use of a spring compressor. 10. Lower the floor jack to allow room for the stock coil spring and the new upper coil spacer. 11. On the driver side, place the isolation pad on top of the stock coil spring, place new coil spring spacer on top of isolator pad. Place the entire assembly into the stock spring location. Turn the spring so that it is lined up with index marks made in step 3. Line the spacer studs up with the holes in the shock tower. Raise the floor jack until new coil spring spacer seats into the upper stock location. (See Figure 5) Repeat step 11 on passenger side. 12. On the driver’s side, install the shock down through the engine compartment and secure the bottom of the shock into the stock location using the stock hardware. Tighten to 100 ft-lbs. Repeat step 12 on passenger side. 13. On the driver’s side, reinstall stock upper shock tower into stock location. Secure new coil spring spacer to upper shock mount using 3/8″ hardware provided with the kit. Torque to 35 ft-lbs.
