Inspect the power steering reservoir. Does one of the 3 ribs on the reservoir cover point toward the reservoir holder? Yes – This vehicle already has the revised power steering reservoir. Continue with normal troubleshooting procedures. No – Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Drain the power steering reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Raise the reservoir, and disconnect its return hose. •Drain the reservoir fluid into a suitable container. Take care not to spill any fluid on the body or other parts. Wipe off any spilled fluid immediately. 2. Drain the fluid from the power steering system: •Connect a suitable diameter drain hose to the disconnected return hose. •Hold the end of the drain hose in a suitable container. •Start the engine, and run it at idle while you turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. •When the fluid stops running out of the hose, shut off the engine. •Discard the used fluid. 3. Reinstall the return hose to the reservoir, then reattach the reservoir to its holder. Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 4. Bleed the air from the power steering system: •Start the engine. •With the engine at a fast idle, turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. 5. Check the condition of the fluid in the reservoir: •If the fluid looks contaminated, dark, or discolored, repeat steps 1 thru 5. •If the fluid is clear, go to step 6. 6. Place a suitable container under the vehicle to catch any fluid 7. Replace the power steering fluid reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Disconnect the return hose from the reservoir, and pour the fluid from the reservoir into a container. •Disconnect the outlet hose from the reservoir, and remove the reservoir. •Install a new reservoir in the reverse order of removal. •Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 8. Start the engine, and run it at a fast idle. Turn the steering from lock-to-lock several times to bleed any air from the system. 9. Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir, and add more if needed. Do not fill the reservoir beyond its upper level line.

Correction Replace the ignition coil/module assembly and add ground strap following the procedure below. 1. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector. 2. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the ignition coil. 3. Disconnect the right side spark plug wires from the ignition coil. 4. Remove the four bolts attaching the ignition coil to its mounting bracket and remove the ignition coil. 5. Remove the ignition coil from the mounting bracket. 6. Loosen the two lower ignition coil mounting bracket nuts. 7. Remove the two upper ignition coil mounting bracket bolts and discard. Install the ground strap (1), P/N 12581176, to the upper left side of the bracket as shown between the coil bracket and intake. Install the new bracket bolt, P/N 11570082, (do not tighten at this time). Prior to installing the ground strap, remove the captured nut and washers. They are not needed (simply pound them out with a hammer on a vise). 9. Install the washer (2), P/N 02436162, to the upper right side of the bracket between the coil bracket and intake. Install the new bracket bolt, P/N 11570082, (do not tighten at this time). Tighten Tighten all the ignition coil bracket bolts and nuts to 25 N·m (15 lb ft). 10. Install the new ignition coil to the mounting bracket. 11. Install the other end of the ground strap to the coil as shown and secure using a new bolt, P/N 11588715. 12. Install the other three ignition coil bolts. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in). 13. Connect the right side spark plug wires to the ignition coil. 14. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the ignition coil. 15. Connect the ignition coil electrical connector

SYMPTOM A moan or whine is heard when turning the steering wheel when the engine is cold. There may be air bubbles or foam in the power steering reservoir. The noise usually goes away when the engine warms up. PROBABLE CAUSE Air enters the power steering pump through the inlet joint O-ring. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the O-ring on the power steering pump inlet joint. PARTS INFORMATION O-ring: P/N 91345-RDA-A01, H/C 8811010 REQUIRED MATERIALS Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid: P/N 08206-9002, H/C 3747284 (One container repairs about 12 vehicles.) Remove the inlet joint O-ring. 5. Apply power steering fluid to a new O-ring, and install it on the inlet joint. 6. Install the inlet joint, and torque its bolt to 11 N. m (8 lb-ft). 7. Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower) Notes Intake Manifold Replacement – Lower Removal Procedure 1. Disconnect the negative bakery. 2. Remove the upper intake manifold. 3. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover. 4. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover. 5. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature ( ECT ) sensor electrical connector. 6. Disconnect and remove the fuel injector and the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor wiring harnesses. 7. Remove the fuel pipe clip bolt. 8. Remove the fuel pipe clip. 9. Remove the fuel feed pipe from the fuel injector rail. 10. Remove the fuel return pipe from the fuel injector rail. 11. Remove the fuel injector rail. 12. Remove the power steering pump from the front engine cover and reposition. 13. Remove the heater inlet pipe with heater hose from the lower intake manifold and reposition. 14. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the engine. 16. Remove the lower intake manifold bolts. 17. Remove the lower intake manifold. 18. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. 19. Remove the lower intake manifold gaskets and seals. 20. Clean the lower intake manifold gasket mating surfaces. 21. Remove and clean all the RTV sealant from the lower intake manifold and the engine block (1).

Power Steering Belt REMOVAL POWER STEERING PUMP AND AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR BELT 1. Using a 17 mm wrench, rotate belt tensioner clockwise (Fig. 2) until belt can be removed from power steering pump pulley. Gently, release spring tension on tensioner. 2. Remove the drive belt (Fig. 3). Clean all foreign debris from belt pulley grooves. The belt pulleys must be free of oil, grease, and coolants before installing the drive belt. INSPECTION Belt replacement under any or all of the following conditions is required: ^Excessive wear ^Frayed cords ^Severe glazing Poly-V Belt system may develop minor cracks across the ribbed side (due to reverse bending). These minor cracks are considered normal and acceptable. Parallel cracks are not (Fig. 6). NOTE: Do not use any type of belt dressing or restorer on Poly-V Belts. INSTALLATION NOTE: When installing drive belt on the pulleys, make sure that belt is properly routed and all V-grooves make proper contact with pulley grooves. POWER STEERING PUMP AND AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR BELT 1. Install the drive belt (Fig. 3) over all the pulleys except for the power steering pump pulley 2.
