Wheel Hub Removal All vehicles 1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 . 2. NOTE: Caliper is removed for clarity. Position aside the front disc brake caliper and anchor plate (2B292). 1. Remove the two front disc brake caliper anchor plate bolts. 2. Remove the front disc brake caliper anchor plate and position aside. 3. NOTE: Carry out this step for F-250 and F-350 4×4 SRW vehicles. Remove the rotor. 4. NOTE: Carry out this step for DRW vehicles. NOTE: If excessive force must be used during brake rotor removal, the brake rotors should be checked for lateral runout prior to installation. For additional information, refer to Section 206-00 . Remove the eight hub extender nuts, the hub plate and the rotor. 1. Remove the eight hub plate nuts. 2. Remove the hub plate. 3. Remove the rotor. 5. Remove the hub lock. 1. Remove the retainer ring. 2. Pull outward and remove the hub lock. 6. Remove the axle shaft thrust washers. 1. Remove the snap ring. 2. Remove the three thrust washers. Vehicles equipped with ABS 7. sensor from the bearing. Disconnect the ABS wheel sensor harness. 1. Disconnect the connector. 2. Disconnect the harness routing clips. All vehicles 8. NOTE: The wheel hub and bearing is a slip fit design and should not require a puller to remove it. Remove the wheel hub and bearing. 1. Remove the four lock nuts. 2. Remove the wheel hub and bearing 9. If necessary, remove the brake disc shield. Vehicles with ABS 10. If necessary, remove the bolt and the ABS sensor. All vehicles 11. NOTE: If necessary, position the hub in a soft-jawed vise. Install two nuts on the studs and use the inner nut to remove the studs. 12. Remove and discard the O-ring. Installation All vehicles 1. NOTE: Any time the wheel hub is removed for any reason, a new O-ring seal must be installed. Failure to do so can cause a vacuum leak and loss of four wheel drive operations. Install a new O-ring. 2. NOTE: Position the hub in a soft-jawed vise. Install two nuts on the studs and use the outer nut to install the studs. Vehicles equipped with ABS 3. Position the ABS sensor and install the bolt. All vehicles 4. Position the brake disc shield. 5. NOTE: Apply a coat of Ford High Temperature 4×4 Front Axle and Wheel Bearing Grease E8TZ-19590-A meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C198-A to the O-ring area of the wheel hub and bearing before installing the hub and bearing. Install the wheel hub and bearing. 1. Position the wheel hub and bearing. 2. Install the four lock nuts. Vehicle equipped with ABS 6. NOTE: The following step applies only to vehicles equipped with ABS. Connect the ABS sensor harness. 1. Position the ABS sensor harness and install the routing clips. 2. Connect the harness connector. All vehicles 7. n-metallic thrust washer must be installed between the two metal thrust washers. Failure to do so will cause severe wear to the non-metallic thrust washer, allowing the axle shaft to travel further in and out during torque thrust causing damage to the wheel hub and bearing, the axle shaft end seal and the axle shaft. Install the snap ring. 1. Position the three thrust washers onto the axle shaft. 2. Install the snap ring. 8. NOTE: Any time the hub lock is removed, a new O-ring seal must be installed. Failure to do so can cause a vacuum leak and loss of four wheel drive functions. Install a new O-ring. 9. Install the hub lock. 1. Position the hub lock. 2. Install the retainer ring. 10. Position the front disc brake rotor (1125) to the wheel hub (1104). Make sure the wheel hub and the front disc brake rotor braking and mounting surfaces are clean. ? Use brake parts cleaner to clean the front disc brake rotor. 11. NOTE: Carry out this step for DRW vehicles only. Install the front wheel hub extender and nuts.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS Removal & Installation 1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies. Remove lower lock pin/guide bolt. See Fig. 2 . Pivot caliper upward and support using rope. 2. Remove pads, shims, guide plates or pad guides and “V” springs (if equipped). Replace pad if lining thickness is less than specified. See MINIMUM PAD LINING SPECIFICATIONS (FRONT) table. 3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use Disc Brake Expander (49-0221-600C) and an old pad to push piston fully inward to install disc pads. Fig. 2: Exploded View Of Front Brake Disc Assembly Courtesy of MAZDA MOTORS CORP. MINIMUM PAD LINING SPECIFICATIONS (FRONT) Application Thickness In. (mm) MX-6, 626 FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER Removal & Installation Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies and disconnect brake hose. Plug all openings. Remove front disc brake pads. See FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS . Remove remaining mounting bolt(s). Remove caliper from vehicle. To install, reverse removal procedure. Bleed air from system. FRONT BRAKE ROTOR Removal & Installation 1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies. Remove front disc brake caliper with brake hose connected. See FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER . Wire caliper aside. Remove rotor-to-hub screws (if equipped). Remove rotor. 2. Machine rotor if lateral runout exceeds specification. Replace rotor if measured thickness is less than specified minimum thickness. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS table. To install, reverse removal procedure. REAR DISC BRAKE PADS Removal & Installation 1. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Remove rear wheel assemblies. Release parking brake and disconnect parking brake cable from caliper. Remove manual adjustment gear concealment plug from caliper. See Fig. 3 . Insert an appropriate size Allen wrench through hole and turn manual adjustment gear counterclockwise to retract caliper piston. 2. Remove upper guide bolt from caliper. Rotate caliper downward and support using wire. Remove “M” springs. Remove pads, shims and guide plates. Replace pad if lining thickness is less than .04″ (1.0 mm). 3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Turn manual adjustment gear clockwise until brake pads slightly touch rotor. Turn manual adjustment gear back 1/3 turn.

The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the “Accessory Installation Practices” document. This document covers such items as:- • Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). • Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). • Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). • Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 1. Prepare for Installation. (a) Verify kit contents (b) Wear Safety Glasses. (c) Raise Vehicle . (d) Caution Muffler might be hot 2. Remove Rear Bumper Fascia (a) Remove (2) Phillips head screws (A) from both sides of the rear fascia (Fig. 2-1). (b) Remove (7) push pins (A) on edges of fascia (Fig. 2-2) (c) Remove (2) Phillips head screws (B) from bottom of fascia (Fig. 2-2). (d) See Fig. 2-3 for removal of fastener (C). (Fig. 2-3) (f) With one person on each end, remove fascia from vehicle. Store in a safe place to avoid damage during installation. 3. Remove Vehicle Tie Down (a) Remove (2) M12 Bolts and vehicle tie down (A) from the left hand (Drivers Side) rear of vehicle (Fig. 3-1). (b) Dispose of bracket and (2) bolts. 4. Detach Muffler (a) Protect exhaust tip with a rag or protective tape during installation of hitch (Fig. 5). (b) Detach muffler from exhaust hangar (Fig. 5) 5. Install Bumper Brackets (a) Remove M8 bolts from the vehicle bumper beam, and install (RH) and (LH) bumper brackets with (3) OE supplied M8 bolts, each with a lock washer and a flat washer (Fig. 5-1). Do not tighten at this time. 6. Install Hitch (a) Lift hitch into place (requires 2 people) and install the (3) M12 x 35 bolts into the (3) weld nuts in the bottom of the frame rails (Fig. 6-1). (b) Loosely secure the middle bolts first, then the (2) forward and aft bolts on each side. (c) Do not tighten bolts at this time. 7. Install Drivers Side Brackets (a) Install LH Frame Bracket (A) to the side of the frame rail using (2) of the M12 x 35 bolts (Fig. 7-1). NOTE: Excess body sealant may require removal of sealant before continuing installation Protect any bare areas with 3MTM Autobody sealant. (b) Install LH Support Bracket (B) to Driver’s Side of Hitch (C), and to bottom of LH Frame Bracket using (4) M12 x 35 bolts. Do not tighten (Fig. 7-1). (c) Fasten LH Support Bracket (B) to LH Bumper Bracket (D) using (4) M12 x 35 bolts. Do not tighten (Fig. 7-1)

NOTE: Ensure the wheels are straight and the steering wheel is centered before removing the steering intermediate shaft by installing a steering wheel holder. 2. Remove the column hole cover silencer sheet. Turn back the floor carpet, remove the 2 clips, and remove the column hole cover silencer sheet. Place matchmarks (“a”) on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and steering column. B. Remove bolt A and detach the No. 2 steering assembly from the steering gear. C. Remove bolt B and detach the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft from the steering column. 4. Remove the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly by removing the clamp and disconnecting the column hole cover from the steering gear. 5. Remove the intermediate shaft. Remove the bolt and disconnect the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear. 6. Install the NEW intermediate shaft onto the steering gear. Torque: 35 Nm (360 kgfcm, 26 ftlbf) 7. Install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly onto the steering gear with a NEW clamp. Install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly by attaching clip B onto the body and installing the No. 1 hole cover onto the body with clip A. NOTE: Make sure that the lip of the No. 1 hole cover is NOT damaged. 9. Install the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly. A. Align the matchmarks (“a”) on steering intermediate shaft and the steering sliding yoke and temporarily install them with bolt B. Torque: 35 Nm (360 kgfcm, 26 ftlbf) B. Ensure the wheels are straight. C. Install the No. 2 intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft with bolt A. Torque: 35 Nm (360 kgfcm, 26 ftlbf) 10. Install the column hole cover silencer sheet. A. Install the column hole cover plate with the 2 clips. B. Install the floor carpet. 11. Remove the steering wheel holder from the vehicle. 12. Road test the vehicle to verify the repair and confirm that the steering wheel is centered.

Replacing Front Wheel Bearing ( Wheel Hub )(Basis) Caution! Bearing cannot be dismantled. Do not wash out bearings. Remove brake disk (brake line remains connected), refer to Brakes and Traction Control; Disc Brake System. Remove ABS impulse sensor. Remove stabilizer link from stabilizer, Steering and Suspension. Unfasten nut. Installation: Use washer (1). Tapered spigot and bore both free of grease. Replace self-locking nut. Brace on hexagon socket if necessary. Tightening Torque, refer to Steering Specifications. Press off track rod with special tool 31 2 240. Mark the installation position of the spring strut tube (1) in the swivel bearing (2) with paint – never mark with scribing tool. Marking is not required if the factory mark is still identifiable. R installation position of right spring strut tube L installation position of left spring strut tube Version with factory marking above the swivel bearing. Unfasten nut. Expand swivel bearing with special tool 31 2 200 and pull swivel bearing downwards. Installation: Press swivel bearing upwards to stop with workshop hoist and note marking of installation position. INSTALLATION OF HOTCHKIS FRONT SWAY BAR 1) Securely block the rear wheels of the vehicle. Use a jack to lift up the front of the vehicle and use jack stands to support it. Do not remove the front wheels during installation for safety. 2) Use a 14mm wrench and 6mm Allen wrench to remove the nuts holding the end links to the ends of the stock sway bar. Remove the end links from the ends of the sway bar. Retain the hard ware for later use.
3) Use a 19mm Wrench or socket to remove the four bolts mounting the cradle to the sub frame. Retain the bolts for later re-installation. 4) Use a 14mm socket or wrench to remove the two nuts and three bolts holding the lower engine mount to the cradle. Retain the hardware for later re-installation. 5) Use a 14mm wrench or socket to remove the three bolts holding the front of the cradle assembly to the radiator support. Retain the hardware for later re-installation. 6) Use a 17mm wrench or socket to remove the four bolts holding the steering rack to the cradle. Retain the hardware for later re-installation. 7) With all the bolts removed the cradle should droop loosely enough to reach the sway bar mounted to the top rear portion of the cradle. Use a 12mm socket or wrench to loosen and remove the four bolts holding the stock sway bar in place. Remove the stock sway bar, bushings and brackets. Retain the stock hardware for later re-installation
