In addition to the content of this service kit, four other gaskets not included in this service kit will also be needed to complete the repair, a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Gasket (54), a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Inner Gasket (59), a Case Cover Lower Gasket (429), and a Case Cover Upper Gasket (430). These gaskets can be obtained by ordering service kit P/Ns 24206959 and 24206391. Be sure to use ONLY the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings provided in this service kit. DISCARD the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings removed from the transmission being serviced. Disassemble ONLY the Oil Pump Assembly from the Case Cover (Complete). DO NOT disassemble the Control Valve Body from the Case Cover. Remove ONLY the Case Cover-to- Case bolts to remove the Case Cover and Valve Body from Transmission Case AS AN ASSEMBLY . To access all Case Cover-to-Case bolts, it is necessary to remove the Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Assembly (322), and 1-2 & 3-4 Shift Solenoid Valve Assemblies (315A, 315B).

Clutch Hydraulic Line Removal 1. Note the routing of the clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube (7A512) line from clutch master cylinder (7A543) to the clutch slave cylinder. 2. Remove retainer pin from clutch master cylinder holding clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube in place. 3. Raise the vehicle and install suitable safety stands. 4. Disconnect clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube from external clutch slave cylinder. Valve Cover LH Removal 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 . 2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12 . 3. Remove the air cleaner housing. 1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. 2. Remove the bolt. 3. Remove the housing. 4. CAUTION: To disconnect the Norma fitting, squeeze the tabs and pull straight out or damage to the fitting can occur. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube. 5. Disconnect the fuel hose. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00 . 6. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve hose. 7. Remove the vapor management valve (VMV) cover. DISCONNECT PS PUMP FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the 2 PS air hoses from the air intake chamber and resonator. b. Remove the bolt holding the PS pressure tube clamp to the frame. c. Remove the drive belt. d. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the PS pump from the engine. 5. w/ A/C: DISCONNECT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the A/C compressor connector. b. Remove the drive belt. c. Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the A/C compressor from the engine. 6. LOOSEN FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 7. REMOVE DRIVE BELT FOR GENERATOR 8. REMOVE NO.2 FAN SHROUD 9. REMOVE FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 10. w/ A/C: REMOVE A/C COMPRESSOR BRACKET Remove the 5 bolts and A/C compressor bracket. 11. DISCONNECT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE 12. REMOVE NO.2 TIMING BELT COVER a. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector from the No. 2 timing belt cover. b. Disconnect the 4 high-tension cord clamps from the No. 2 timing belt cover. c. Remove the 6 bolts and timing belt cover. 13. REMOVE FAN BRACKET a. Remove the nut and PS pump adjusting strut. b. Remove the bolt, nut and fan bracket. 14. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER AT TDC/COMPRESSION a. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with timing mark “0″ of the No. 1 timing belt cover. b. Check that the timing marks of the camshaft timing pulleys and No. 3 timing belt cover are aligned. If not, turn the crankshaft pulley 1 revolution (360°) . HINT: When re-using timing belt: Place the matchmarks on the timing belt and camshaft timing pulleys, and place matchmark on timing belt to match the end of the No. 1 timing belt cover. 15. REMOVE TIMING BELT TENSIONER Alternately loosen the 2 bolts, and remove them, the belt tensioner and dust boot. 16. REMOVE TIMING BELT
