1 Check scan data for fuel trims to see if the system is in proper fuel control – look for 0% plus or minus 10% in generic or 90 – 110 % alpha in manufacture specific. 2. Verify there are no exhaust leaks. 3. Drive the vehicle and check the bank 1 rear O2 sensor activity on the scan tool or with a voltmeter to see if the bank 1 rear O2 sensor is cross counting like a typical front O2 sensor would. Potential Causes: Catalytic Converter Tech Tips: If in manufacture specific with the scan tool, Nissan displays fuel trims in alpha. 100% alpha is the same as 0% fuel trim. This vehicle has front air fuel ratio sensors – not O2 sensors. Bank 1 is the firewall bank. Bank 2 is the radiator bank. Before the catalytic converter lights off, the rear O2 sensor voltage is usually down around 0.2 – 0.4 volts or so but when the catalytic converter lights off, it uses up a lot of the oxygen so the rear O2 sensor voltage will typically reads around 0.6 – 0.7 volts and have some movement but not a lot of movement and should not cross count above and below 0.5 volts. The catalytic converter is covered under the 8 year 80,000 mile federal emissions warranty.

Installation instructions: 1. Raise vehicle. 2. Lubricate all factory hangers with penetrating oil or equivalent. 3. Remove nuts attaching factory Y-pipe to flanges on outlets of catalytic converters; remove electrical ground wire from stud on driver side converter. 4. Remove factory vibration isolator and ground wire attached to stock tailpipe above rear axle housing. Do not discard this balancer it will be reinstalled later. 5. Remove bolts attaching factory rubber mount in front of muffler to cross-member. 6. Move exhaust system towards the rear of vehicle until it clears studs at converter flanges and hanger rod at rear of muffler comes out of its rubber hanger. Pull exhaust system forward again until rear-most tailpipe hanger comes out of its rubber hanger. Remove system from vehicle. 7. Place supplied 2″ clamp over Y-pipe slip connector and insert driver side inlet pipe into slip connector. 8. Reuse stock gaskets and install new Y-pipe assembly against mating flanges of converter outlets. Reinstall the previously removed ground wire and nuts at flanges. Tighten nuts and clamp. 9. Remove rear-most factory rubber hanger attached to passenger side frame by removing three bolts with a 12mm socket or wrench 10. Remove stock hanger from front of muffler on stock system and install over hanger rod on new Y-pipe. Attach hanger to cross-member with bolts previously removed. 11. Position one supplied 2.5″ clamp over muffler inlet and install muffler over outlet of Y-pipe. Do not tighten clamp fully at this time. 12. Position one supplied 2.5″ clamp over tailpipe section “A”. Insert hanger rod into factory rubber hanger above rear of muffler and install pipe over outlet of muffler at the same time. Do not tighten clamp fully at this time. 13. Position one supplied 2.5″ clamp over tailpipe section “B” and install pipe into rear-most rubber hanger on frame and over outlet of tailpipe section “A”. Do not fully tighten clamp at this time. 14. Install previously removed factory rubber hanger on tailpipe “B” hanger rod and reattach to passenger side frame rail with three stock bolts. 14. Position remaining supplied 2.5″ clamp over tip and install over outlet of tailpipe assembly. 15. Attach previously removed vibration isolator and ground strap to two-hole bracket welded to tailpipe section “B” with provided 5/16″ hardware; Use the photo below for reference as to proper orientation. 16. Align system and tighten all fasteners and clamps. 17. Lower vehicle

Transmission Repair 1. Remove the transmission. Refer to the appropriate SI procedure. 2. Disassemble and inspect the transmission. Refer to Unit Repair Automatic Transmission – 4L60-E/4L65-E. Important: Subject: 4L60-E Automatic Transmission/Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Shudder, Water in Transmission (Repair Transmission and Replace Transmission Filler Tube, Level Indicator and Seal) Models: 2004-2005 Buick Rainier 2003-2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Models 2003-2005 GMC Envoy Models 2003-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada 2005 Saab 9-7X with 4.2L In-Line 6 Cylinder Engine (VIN S — RPO LL8) • Visible rust on the transmission fluid level indicator. • Visible water in the oil pan. • A milky white substance inside the pan area. • Spacer plate gaskets that appear to be glued to the spacer plate, valve body or case. • Rust on internal transmission iron/steel components. • Remove the surge tank cap and examine the coolant for signs of contamination with transmission fluid (the coolant will have a milky, not clear appearance). • If the coolant has a normal, clear appearance, the radiator should not be replaced. • The cooler can also be tested by following the Coolant System Leak Test procedure (SI Document ID# 877442). Do NOT replace a radiator without verifying that the transmission oil cooler is leaking. If water or coolant is found in the transmission, the following components MUST be replaced. Replace the Transmission Fluid Filler Tube, Seal and Fluid Level Indicator WITH the transmission REMOVED from vehicle. 1. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube from the transmission. 2. Replace the transmission fill tube seal, P/N 1259475. 3. Replace the transmission fill tube, P/N 15000220, following the appropriate SI Document for Transmission Installation. 4. Replace the transmission fluid level indicator, P/N 15069769 when appropriate during the transmission installation. Replace the Transmission Fluid Filler Tube, Seal and Fluid Level Indicator with the transmission in the vehicle. 1. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement (SI Document ID# 1364496). 2. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator from the filler tube. 3. Remove the filler tube nut (2) located on the right side of the engine. 4. Remove the filler tube from the vehicle. Tip It is necessary to remove the two A/C line (suction line / low side of muffler hose) retainers and reposition • Replace all of the rubber type seals. • Replace all of the composition-faced clutch plate assemblies including the band. • Replace all of the nylon parts (Thrust Washers). • Replace the torque converter. • Thoroughly clean and rebuild the transmission, using new gaskets and oil filter. • Flush and flow check the transmission oil cooler using J 45096. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 02-07-30- 052C or newer – Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Flush and Flow Test Essential Tool J 45096 TransFlow .
the A/C line to allow proper clearance for installation of the new transmission fluid fill tube. 5. Remove the A/C line at the oil level indicator tube bracket nut. 6. Remove the A/C bracket bolt from the engine lift hook. 7. Reposition the A/C line upward. 8. Install the new transmission filler tube, P/N 15000220, into position but NOT into the transmission at this time. 9. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information (SI Document ID# 744862). 10. Remove the two bolts securing the transmission heat shield to the transmission. 11. Remove the transmission heat shield from the transmission. 12. Remove the old filler tube seal from the transmission case. 13. Install a new seal, P/N 1259475 into the transmission case. 14. Position the new transmission filler tube into the transmission seal. 15. Install the transmission heat shield to the transmission. 16. Install the two bolts securing the transmission heat shield to the transmission. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft). 17. Lower the vehicle. 18. Install the nut securing the filler tube to the stud. Tighten Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in). 19. Reposition the A/C line into place. 20. Install the A/C line bracket to the oil level indicator tube stud and secure the bracket with the nut. 21. Install the A/C line bracket to the engine lift bracket and secure the A/C bracket with the bolt

Installation instructions: 1.) Raise and support vehicle. 2.) Lubricate all factory rubber hangers with penetrating oil. 3.) Loosen clamp attaching stock muffler to outlet of catalytic converter. 4.) With a helper, pull hanger rods from rubber hangers and pull stock muffler/tailpipe assembly off of catalytic converter. 5.) Remove muffler/tailpipe from vehicle. 6.) If you are installing this system onto rear of catalytic converter, place the included 3.5? clamp over smaller end of included adapter and install adapter onto converter outlet. If you are installing this aft-cat system with a Bassani down-pipe, the adapter is used between the down-pipe and cat- replacement pipe shown in the down-pipe instructions. 7.) Line up notch in adapter with index lug on outlet of converter and fully engage adapter. 8.) Place hole in clamp over index lug, which now appears in notch of adapter and tighten clamp 9.) Install 14.5? extension onto adapter, with a 4? clamp, if installing kit on a crew-cab truck. 10.) Place one supplied 4? clamp over expanded end of inlet pipe and install pipe directly onto adapter (extra-cabs) or onto end of extension (crew-cabs); insert hanger rods on pipe into corresponding rubber hangers on frame. 11.) Place one supplied 4? clamp over inlet of muffler and install muffler onto inlet pipe. 12.) Place one supplied 4? clamp over expanded end of tailpipe section “C” and install pipe onto outlet of muffler. Insert hanger rods into corresponding rubber hangers on frame. 13.) Place one supplied 4? clamp over expanded end of tailpipe section “D” and install pipe onto tailpipe section “C”. 14.) Place one supplied 4? clamp over expanded end of tailpipe section “E” and install pipe onto outlet of tailpipe section “D”. Insert hanger rod into corresponding rubber hanger on frame. 15.) Place remaining 4? clamp over tip inlet and install tip onto tailpipe section “E”. 16.) Align all components for best fit and tighten all clamps

Raise and support vehicle. 2.) You must install Bassani headers and “X” pipe prior to installing this converter kit for a direct fit installation. Refer to instructions included with those products to proceed to this point. 3.) If a Bassani “X” pipe was previously installed with factory manifolds/converter pipes, loosen clamps and remove adapter pipes that connect Bassani “X” crossover to stock converter outlets. Store or discard these pipes as you have been provided with special adapters for these converters. 4.) Using a 2.5″ clamp, install the included shorter adapter pipe into the inlet stub pipe of “X” crossover. Install the included longer adapter pipe into the other inlet stub pipe. 5.) Using two supplied clamps, install converters into adapter pipes and against collector outlets of Bassani headers already installed; use the 3/8″ bolts included with the headers for this purpose. 6.) Reinstall post-catalyst oxygen sensors into bungs on converters and connect to factory wiring harness with extensions supplied with Bassani headers. 7.) Align system, tighten clamps/fasteners and start engine to check for leaks
