The distinguishing characteristic of this condition is that it likely will have been present since new, and is typically noticed within the first 161-322 km (100-200 mi). The noise may often be diagnosed as a collapsed lifter . Additionally, the noise may be present at cold start and appear to diminish and then return as the engine warms to operating temperature. This noise is different from other noises that may begin to occur at 3219-4828 km (2000-3000 mi). Cause The 0-ring seal between the oil pump screen and the oil pump may be cut, causing aeration of the oil. Correction

1. Locate and identify the three vacuum ports on the intake manifold. 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to page 11-113 of the 1998-00 Accord Service Manual. 5. Install the new vacuum hose kit using one of the following procedures 1. Remove and discard the cap from vacuum port A. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose to vacuum port A M/T WITH CRUISE CONTROL 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to page 11-113 of the 1998-00 Accord Service Manual. 5. Install the new vacuum hose kit using one of the following procedures. Zoom Sized for Print 1. Remove and discard the cap from vacuum port A. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose to vacuum port A. Zoom Sized for Print 3. Anchor the long vacuum hose by attaching it to the rear intake air duct clip and to the cruise control hose. . Route the new vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. Attach the hose to the three rear clips on the engine wire harness cover. Zoom Sized for Print 1. Remove and discard the vacuum hose from vacuum port A. This hose supplies vacuum to the rear engine mount control solenoid. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose from the top of the Y fitting to vacuum port A

OIL PAN(A4 & A6) Removal (Lower Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. 2. Remove engine noise insulator (undercover). See Fig. 12 . Drain engine oil. 3. Unbolt left and right swaybar stabilizer bracket bolts (4) from mounting bracket. See Fig. 98 . Lower swaybar stabilizer not more than 10cm (3.94 INCHES) and secure with heavy wire. 4. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, unbolt oil cooler pipe (line) bracket from right side oil pan. 5. Remove lower oil pan. To install oil pan (lower), see INSTALLATION (LOWER OIL PAN- A4 & A6) . Installation (Lower Oil Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Ensure oil pan surfaces are clean and dry. Remove residual sealant from oil pan, if necessary, with hand drill and plastic brush instead of a flat scrapper. See Fig. 99 . Install gasket. 2. Install 2 bolts diagonal to each other (to hold up pan). Install the rest of the bolts and hand tighten. 3. Starting at center and moving outward, tighten lower oil pan to upper oil pan bolts to 10 N.m (89 INCH lbs.). Tighten oil pan drain plug 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.). Wait 30 minutes before filling with engine oil. Tighten all bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . 4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING . Removal (Upper Oil Pan- A4 & A6) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove oil dipstick. Unbolt oil dipstick tube at front of cylinder head. Remove oil dipstick tube. 2. Remove engine noise insulator (undercover). See Fig. 12 . Drain engine oil. 3. Move lock carrier into service position. See LOCK CARRIER . This will allow servicing of front engine components and facilitate removal of oil pan. 4. Open coolant expansion tank cap, drain cooling system at radiator. Open the coolant pump bearing housing drain plug. Located at bottom of block near transmission bell housing, drivers side of vehicle. See Fig. 32 – Fig. 33 . If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, unbolt oil cooler pipe (line) CAUTION: Wear eye protection NOTE: Obtain radio code before disconnecting battery. For help in identifying components and component locations, refer to illustrations Fig. 108 -Fig. 109 . NOTE: If engine is out of car, ensure oil pan is aligned with cylinder block on flywheel side. 2000 Audi A6 1998-02 ENGINES’ ’2.8L V6 30-Valve 2000 Audi A6 1998-02 ENGINES’ ’2.8L V6 30-Valve bracket from right side oil pan. 5. Position Engine Support (10-222A) with (10-222A/3) engine support adapter, or equivalent, on bolted flanges of fenders. Connect support bracket to front and rear engine lifting eyes. Lift up engine as far as possible. DO NOT use excessive force to raise engine. 6. Cut tie wraps and open bracket supporting starter wiring. See Fig. 97 . Disconnect electrical connection at starter.

ADJUSTMENTS WINDOWS Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Loosen bolts holding window to regulator. Raise window fully, seating window in frame. Tighten bolts. Install door trim panel. TROUBLE SHOOTING POWER WINDOWS On Dakota, inspect circuit breaker No. 20 (20-amp) in junction block. On Durango inspect circuit breaker No. 21 (25-amp) in junction block. On all models, junction block is located on left end of instrument panel. Inspect fuse No. 9 (40-amp on Dakota, 50-amp on Durango) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in left front corner of engine compartment. Inspect power window system ground circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . SYSTEM TESTS ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE Dakota 1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver’s front power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) at driver power window switch wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between driver power window 2000 Dodge Durango 2000 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT’ ‘Power Windows – Dakota & Durango 2000 Dodge Durango 2000 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT’ ‘Power Windows – Dakota & Durango switch connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 3. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Tan wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, check driver power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Tan wire between driver power window switch connector and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Durango 1. Check circuit breaker for power window system. See TROUBLE SHOOTING . Replace circuit breaker as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver’s front power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 3. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between driver’s power window switch connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 4. Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at driver’s power window switch wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, check driver’s power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Tan wire between driver power window switch connector and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Fuel Pump Relay 1. Remove fuel pump relay from power distribution center at driver’s side front corner of engine compartment, near the battery. Note terminal identification on fuel pump relay. See Fig. 6 . 2. To check fuel pump relay resistance, use ohmmeter and check resistance between terminals No. 85 and 86 on fuel pump relay. Replace fuel pump relay if resistance is not 70-80 ohms. 3. To check fuel pump relay operation, connect ohmmeter between terminals No. 30 and 87A on fuel pump relay. See Fig. 6 . Ohmmeter should indicate continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87A on fuel pump relay. 4. Connect ohmmeter between terminals No. 30 and 87 on fuel pump relay. See Fig. 6 . Ohmmeter should indicate no continuity between terminals No. 30 and 87 on fuel pump relay. 5. Connect 16-gauge jumper wire between negative battery terminal and terminal No. 85 on fuel pump relay. Connect 16-gauge jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 86 on fuel pump relay. 6. Fuel pump relay should now be energized. No continuity should now exist between terminals No. 30 and 87A on fuel pump relay. Continuity should now exist between terminals No. 30 and 87 on fuel pump relay. Disconnect jumper wires. Replace fuel pump relay if defective. 7. If fuel pump relay or wiring circuit failure exists, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
