This step checks to see if the body control module (BCM) has been replaced. 5. This step explains the proper steps to perform after a BCM has been replaced in order for the <- Back Forward -> Document ID# 385021 1999 Buick Regal Print BCM to operate properly. 6. This step checks to see if the correct VIN is programmed in the BCM. 7. This step explains how to properly program the VIN into the BCM. DTC B1001 Option Configuration Error Step Action Value (s) Yes No 1 Was the SIR Diagnostic System Check performed? — Go to Step 2 Go to SIR Diagnostic System Check 2 1. Install the scan tool. 2. Use the scan tool to verify that the PCM is programmed with the correct VIN by comparing the VIN that is stored in the PCM to the VIN plate of the vehicle. Is the PCM programmed with the correct VIN? — Go to Step 4 Go to Step 3 3 Use the scan tool and/or the techline machine to program the correct VIN into the PCM. Since the 2005 model year, all BCM’s (Body Control Modules) are programmed from the factory to lock all doors when the transmission is shifted into gear or vehicle speed is greater than 8 mph (13 km/h). There is no option to disable the auto door locks from the factory, but if an owner wishes to have the auto door locks disabled the following procedure can be performed: 1. Use the following procedure to disable the auto door locks on the models listed below: 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT 2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado (new body style), Suburban, Tahoe 2007-2008 GMC Sierra (new body style), Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL Reprogram the BCM with updated calibrations currently available in Tis2Web. In some rare instances, the calibrations may not be available in Tis2Web and Techline Customer Support should be contacted to obtain the calibrations. When at the “Calibration Selection” screen in Tis2Web, select “locking” (should be highlighted in Red) and pick the calibration listed as “(Per Customer Request Only) Auto door locks off, option no longer in DIC”.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, remove the shift lever. 2. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, perform the following steps: CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions. 3. Disconnect the battery negative cable. CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Service Precautions. 4. Disable the passenger side SIR system. 5. Remove the left sound insulator. 6. Remove the right instrument panel sound insulator. 7. If the vehicle is equipped with a multiple CD changer located in the center console, remove the center console. 8. Remove the center sound insulator. 9. Remove the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt. 10. Remove and retain the instrument panel storage compartment. 11. Remove the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt. 12. Remove and retain the left and right speakers and the speaker grilles. 13. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the windshield defroster grille. Retain the windshield defroster grille for use on the replacement IP carrier. 14. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunload sensor, twist the sunload sensor 1/4 turn counterclockwise in order to detach it from the windshield defroster grille. Retain the sunload sensor for use on the replacement IP carrier. IMPORTANT: Always disconnect the brown electrical from the BCM before disconnecting the purple electrical connector from the BCM. 15. Disconnect the brown electrical connector from the Body Control Module ( BCM ) . 16. Disconnect the purple electrical connector from the Body Control Module (BCM) . 17. Remove the knee bolster. 18. Remove and retain the instrument panel cluster. 19. Remove and retain the radio. 20. Remove and retain the HVAC control assembly 21. Remove the left and right instrument panel driver knee bolster brackets. 22. Lower the steering column for clearance. Refer to the appropriate procedure: * Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column – Standard * Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column – Tilt IMPORTANT: Label all of the connections in order to avoid improper installation

Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Solenoid Valve Replacement Pickup Removal Procedure Important Clean the evaporative emission (EVAP) connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting the fittings in order to avoid possible system contamination. 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 2. Remove the harness clip from the canister vent solenoid (CVS) line. 3. Disconnect the CVS electrical connector. 2004 Chevrolet Chevy K Silverado – 4WD 4. If the vehicle is equipped with a 6 ft box, disconnect the EVAP CVS line from the canister. 5. Remove the CVS clip from the frame crossmember. 6. Push in the retainer and remove the CVS from the fuel tank clip. 7. If the vehicle is equipped with a 8 ft box, disconnect the EVAP CVS line from the canister. 8. Remove the CVS clip from the frame crossmember. 9. Push in the retainer and remove the CVS from the fuel tank clip. Installation Procedure 1. If the vehicle is equipped with a 8 ft box, install the CVS to the fuel tank until the clip engages. Important On vehicles equipped with a 8 ft box, the CVS line is routed below the frame crossmember. 2. Install the CVS clip to the frame crossmember. 3. Connect the EVAP CVS line to the canister. 4. If the vehicle is equipped with a 6 ft box, install the CVS to the fuel tank until the clip engages. Important On vehicles equipped with a 6 ft box, the CVS line is routed above the frame crossmember. 5. Install the CVS clip to the frame crossmember. 6. Connect the EVAP CVS line to the canister. 7. Connect the CVS electrical connector. 8. Install the harness clip to the canister vent solenoid (CVS) line. 9. Lower the vehicle.

PROBLEM The IMA system indicator comes on and IMA DTC 77 (P1447) (battery module deterioration) or DTC 78 (P1449) (battery module deterioration) is set. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the battery module. If needed, replace the motor control module (MCM), the battery condition monitor (BCM), or both INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0). 2. Remove the cargo floor mat (see page 20-44 of the 2000-04 Insight Service Manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword FLOOR MAT , and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation – Cargo Area from the list.) 3. Remove the battery module switch cover (two bolts), then remove the locking cover from the switch. 4. Flip the battery module switch to OFF . Reinstall the locking cover. 5. Wait at least 5 minutes to let the capacitors in the system discharge. 6. Remove the right trunk shelf support (five clips and two bolts). 7. Remove the six mid-frame cover bolts. Remove the intelligent power unit (IPU) lid (17 bolts). 8. Measure the voltage at the junction board terminals. There should be 30 V or less . If you read more than 30 V , there is a problem in the circuit; do the DTC troubleshooting first. SWITCH COVER LOCKING COVER BOLTS LOCKING COVER BATTERY MODULE SWITCH IPU LID RIGHT TRUNK SHELF SUPPORT BOLTS (17) CLIPS CLIPS BOLTS ON JUNCTION BOARD TERMINALS REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Remove the battery module from the vehicle (see page 12-113 of the service manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword BAT MOD , and select Battery Module Removal/Installation from the list.) 2. Remove the lifting tool from the battery module. 3. Remove the mounting bolts for the MCM and the BCM (eight total). Unplug the electrical connectors (five for the MCM and three for the BCM), then remove the modules. 4. Install the MCM and the BCM in the new battery module. Use the original MCM and BCM if no replacement was needed; otherwise, use the appropriate replacement parts. Torque the mounting bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 5. Install the lifting tool on the battery module. 6. With someone to help you, carefully lift the battery module into the vehicle, and set it down into position. Remove the lifting tool. 7. Plug in the connectors, and install the Y condenser harness. Then install the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 24 N·m (17 lb-ft) . 8. Install the battery module air duct. Torque the bolt to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 9. Connect the high voltage cables to the junction board. Torque the bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . 10. Install the front and rear IPU braces and the mid- frame. Torque the bolts to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft) . Manual A/C REMOVAL PROCEDURE CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the right side instrument panel sound insulator. 3. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment. 4. Disconnect the passenger side SIR. 5. Remove the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt. 6. Remove the left and right front speaker grilles. 7. Remove the center instrument panel sound insulator. 8. Remove the left side instrument panel sound insulator. 9. Disconnect the park brake release cable. 10. Remove the knee bolster. 11. Remove the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt. 12. Remove the BCM. 13. Disconnect the driver side SIR. 14. Remove the instrument panel cluster. 15. Remove the radio. 16. Remove the HVAC control assembly. 17. Remove the steering column retaining retaining nuts. 18. Lower the steering column. 19. Remove the instrument panel carrier. 20. Remove the left and right cowl vent grille panels. 21. Disconnect the underhood lamp electrical connector, if equipped. 22. Remove the hood. 23. Remove the VCM. 24. Remove the coolant recovery tank. 25. Remove the heater hoses. 26. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the grille mounted lamps. 27. Remove the right front headlamp assembly. 28. Remove the front bumper. 29. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. 30. Disconnect the radio antenna cable. 31. Disconnect the electrical connector for the horn. 32. Remove the right fender. 33. Remove the evaporator case heat shield, if equipped. 34. Remove the blower motor resistor. 35. Remove the evaporator case bolts and screws. 36. Remove the accumulator. 37. Remove the condenser to the evaporator line fitting. 38. Remove the bolts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead. 39. Pull back lightly on the heater case to remove the evaporator case. 40. Remove the evaporator case retaining screws. 41. Disassemble the evaporator case sections, and remove the evaporator core. NOTE: If replacing the evaporator core, remove the expansion (orofice) tube and install it into the new core. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the evaporator core. 2. Assemble the evaporator case sections. 3. Install the evaporator case retaining screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 in lb) . 4. Install the evaporator core assembly to the vehicle. 5. Install the bolts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead. Tighten the bolts to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in) . 6. Install the condenser to the evaporator line fitting. 7. Install the accumulator. 1998 Chevy Truck S10/T10 Blazer 2WD 8. Install the evaporator case bolts and screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 In in) . 9. Install the blower motor resistor. 10. Install the evaporator case heat shield, if equipped. 11. Install the right fender. 12. Connect the electrical connector for the horn. 13. Install the radio antenna cable. 14. Install the right wheelhouse panel. 15. Install the front bumper. 16. Install the right front headlamp assembly. 17. Connect the electrical connectors to the grille mounted lamps. 18. Install the heater hoses. 19. Install the coolant recovery tank. 20. DURING PDI (PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION) IF WARNING “CK SUSP” LIGHT IS ON, PRIOR TO SENDING WARNING: BEFORE REPLACING ANY AIR TO SERVICE, VERIFY SWITCH IN UPPER RIGHT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, HOISTING, KICK PANEL IS ON. An intermittent may be caused by any of the following conditions: Thoroughly check any circuitry that is suspected of causing the intermittent complaint. Refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis in Wiring Systems. If a repair is necessary, refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems. Test Description The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table. 2. This test checks if communication can be established between the scan tool and the VTD. If the scan tool cannot communicate with the VTD, refer to Diagnostic System Check – Theft Deterrent in Theft Deterrent. 3. This test checks for any opens in the serial data circuit between the VCM and the VTD. This also checks for any intermittent malfunctions associated with the serial data circuit. 4. This step is to determine if the condition that set the DTC is still present. The engine must be cranked in order to set this DTC. If the condition is present, the engine will start and then stall, indicating the VCM is disabling fuel. 7. Use a scan tool to clear and check for any DTCs in all the modules connected to the Class 2 Serial Data circuit (VCM, VTD, ATC, and BCM). the module itself. After repairing the cause of DTC P1626, clear all DTCs from the systems capable of storing this DTC and DTC U1192. 1 Important: Before clearing the DTCs, use the scan tool Capture Info to save the Freeze Frame and Failure Records for reference. The control module’s data is deleted once the Clear Info function is used. Did you perform the Powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check? — Go to Step 2 Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check 2 1. Install the scan tool. 2. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF. 3. Attempt to establish communications with the VTD (Passlock) Control Module. Does the scan tool communicate with the VTD (Passlock) Control Module? — Go to Step 3 Go to Diagnostic System Check – Theft Deterrent in Theft Deterrent 3 Check the Class 2 Serial Data circuit for the following intermittent conditions: Did you find a problem? • An open in the Class 2 Serial Data circuit between the VCM and the VTD (Passlock) Control Module. • A short to ground. • A short to voltage. • Loose or damaged terminals at the DLC, VCM or the VTD (Passlock) Control Module. — Go to Step 6 Go to Step 4 4 1. Turn OFF the ignition. 2. Connect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed. 3. Clear all DTCs using a scan tool. 4. Turn OFF the ignition for 15 seconds. 5. Attempt to start the engine. Does DTC P1626 reset? — Go to Diagnostic System Check – Theft Deterrent in Theft Deterrent Go to Step 5 5 This DTC is intermittent. Are any additional DTCs stored? — Go to the applicable DTC table Go to Diagnostic Aids 6 Repair the circuit as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems. Is the action complete?
