Disconnect the vapor line at the charcoal canister that comes from the liquid vapor separator and goes to the charcoal canister. See if the fuel tank can be easily filled then. 2. If the fuel tank can easily be filled with the vapor line removed from the charcoal canister, reconnect the vapor line and remove the other lines from the charcoal canister and see if the fuel tank can be easily filled. 3. If the fuel tank is once again difficult to fill, replace the charcoal canister. 4. If disconnecting the vapor line at the charcoal canister does NOT make the fuel tank easy to fill, then disconnect the vapor line from the liquid vapor separator at the fuel tank in case the vapor line is plugged/restricted. Potential Causes: Charcoal Canister Liquid Vapor Separator Vapor Line Tech Tips: Fuel vapors are directed to the canister from the ORVR fill vent valve in the gas tank through the liquid vapor separator and to the canister. The metal tube that loops up by the filler neck is part of the vapor line to the canister. Diagnostic Codes: None

Subject: ATA SOLENOID DIAGNOSTIC CODES P0740, P0741, P0742, P0743, P0746, P0748, P0750, P0755, P0760, P0765, P0770 This TSB supersedes TSB # 05-40-006 to include DTC descriptions in Step 10. DESCRIPTION: Incorrect operation of the transaxle solenoids may result in the following three symptoms: REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Check Engine Light illuminated 2. Transaxle held in 3rd gear “Fail-safe” 3. Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0740, P0741, P0742, P0743, P0746, P0748, P0750, P0755, P0760, P0765 or P0770 set. NOTE: Do NOT replace the transaxle for solenoid codes listed as open/short. Instead, follow the repair procedure shown below. 1. Using a Hi-Scan Pro, check for DTC in both the “Engine” and “Automatic Transaxle” menus. Record the DTC and description. 2. From the Hi-Scan Pro, select: ^”Hyundai Diagnosis” menu ^”Vehicle ^”Auto Transaxle” menu ^”Actuation Test” ^Press the F1 button (STRI) and test the LR, UD, 2ND, OD, DCC and FSV solenoid (if applicable). Monitor the Hi-Scan and listen for a solenoid sound from the engine compartment. ^If Hi-Scan shows: ^”TEST FAILURE” and no solenoid sound is heard, go to Step 3. ^”COMPLETED” and solenoid sound is heard, the wiring between the PCM/TCM has no open or short circuits. Go to Step 5. 3. Visually check the wiring harness between the TCM and transaxle for a damaged wire or a short circuit to ground. Disconnect the connectors to the solenoids at the transaxle and the PCM/TCM and check for a bent pin or a pin not fully inserted into the connector. If so, repair or replace the ECM control harness, P/N 914XX-XXXXX 4. Check the harness inside the transaxle oil pan for a short circuit to ground. Replace the harness if damage is found or if three or more solenoid DTCs are found in Step 1. (Refer to TSB # 04-40-015 for instructions). Zoom Sized for Print 5. Refer to the DTC recorded in Step 1 and follow the repair procedure shown. SOLENOID REPLACEMENT: 6. Remove the battery. 7. Drain the radiator. Remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator. 8. Removal 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Drain engine oil. Remove right front wheel and splash shield. Put a block of wood between cradle and engine torque strut at bottom front end of engine. See Fig. 2 . 2. Remove mount from upper front end of engine, allowing engine to rest on wood block. Remove accessory drive belt and tensioner. Remove accessory belt idler. Remove cylinder head cover. 3. Replace silicone isolators on cylinder head cover screws if deteriorated. Remove power steering pump (leave hoses attached). Remove A/C compressor (leave hoses attached). Raise and support vehicle. Drain engine oil. Remove right front wheel and splash shield. 4. Remove support bracket between intake manifold and engine block. Remove front balancer/pulley using a 3-jaw puller. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Install Crankshaft Gear Retainer (SA9104E) onto end of crankshaft, with flat side toward crankshaft gear (sprocket). Crankshaft gear retainer holds crankshaft gear in place during removal of front cover. 5. Remove 4 bolts from front end of oil pan. Using RTV Cutter (SA9123E), cut RTV sealant between oil pan and front cover. Spray penetrating oil onto front cover dowel pins. Remove front cover bolts (one bolt is located above accessory drive belt pulley). Pry front cover from engine block. 6. To prevent pistons from hitting valves, turn crankshaft 90 degrees clockwise as viewed from front of engine until timing mark and keyway are aligned with split line of main bearing cap. Remove timing chain tensioner, guides and chain. While using a 7/8″ (21 mm) wrench to keep camshaft(s) from turning, remove camshaft sprocket bolt(s). Remove camshaft sprocket(s). Installation 1. To prevent pistons from hitting valves, ensure timing mark and keyway on crankshaft are aligned with split line of main bearing cap. Install camshaft sprocket(s) with the letters FRT (front) facing away from cylinder head. Use a 7/8″ (21 mm) wrench to keep camshaft(s) from turning. 2. Install and tighten camshaft sprocket bolt(s) to specification. Rotate camshaft(s) until a 3/16″ (4.8 mm) drill bit can be inserted through timing pin hole(s) and into cylinder head. See Fig. 5 or Fig. 6 . 3. Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise as viewed from front of engine until timing marks at crankshaft sprocket are aligned. Install timing chain, aligning Silver-plated chain links with timing mark(s) on camshaft sprocket(s) and bottom tooth (or teeth) of crankshaft sprocket. See Fig. 5 or Fig. 6 . 4. Install fixed chain guide. Slack part of chain should be on tensioner side of cylinder block. Chain should be tight against fixed chain guide. Install pivoting chain guide. Retract tensioner plunger, and pin ratchet

PULSE GENERATOR-B INSPECTION PROCEDURE: 1. Open and secure the hood. 2. Remove the resonator. 3. Locate the pulse generator under the battery tray. Disconnect the pulse generator connector (blue) and remove the pulse generator male connector (black) from the bracket. 4. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between terminal No. 3 and No. 4 in the disconnected pulse generator male connector (black color). Resistance value: 215-275W (at 20°C or 68°F) If the resistance is lower or higher than the specification, replace the pulse generator (P/N 45955-22700). If the resistance is within specification go to Step 5. 5. Clean both ends of the disconnected pulse generator connectors with aerosol electrical contact cleaner. 6. Apply contact grease (P/N 00305-F0000-39, NYOGEL 760G), into all four terminal openings of the blue female connector until each terminal opening is completely filled with grease. 7. Reconnect the pulse generator connectors and reattach the connector to the bracket. Reinstall all removed components in the reverse order of removal. TCM SPECIFICATIONS CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING 1. Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the “ON” position. 2. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or Hi-Scan Pro during reprogramming. 3. Do not start the engine or turn the ignition key off during reprogramming. WARNING: If reprogramming is interrupted, the manual update procedure must be used. 4. When the reprogramming is completed, turn off the ignition key for 20 seconds before starting the engine. TCM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE: 1. Insert the 16 MB reprogramming card into the top slot of the Hi-Scan Pro. 2. Connect the reprogramming adapter to the Hi-Scan Pro. 3. Connect the white reprogramming connector (2 pin or 10 pin) to the reprogramming adapter. NOTE: Use the correct connector: ^2000-01 Accent: White 2-pin connector. ^2002 Accent: White 10-pin connector 4. Connect power to the Hi-Scan Pro from the cigarette power adapter. 5. Insert the power cable from the reprogramming adapter into the cigarette power adapter.

1. Check all fasteners for proper torque. Check to ensure for adequate clearance between all rotating, mobile, fixed, and heated members. Verify clearance between exhaust and brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, floor boards and wiring harness. Check steering gear for clearance. Test and inspect brake system.
2. Perform steering sweep to ensure front brake hoses have adequate slack and do not contact any rotating,
mobile or heated members. Inspect rear brake hoses at full extension for adequate slack. Failure to perform
hose check/ replacement may result in component failure. Longer replacement hoses, if needed can be pur-
chased from a local parts supplier.
3. Headlight adjustment is highly recommended.
4. Re-torque all fasteners after 500 miles. Always inspect fasteners and components during routine servicing.

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS Dana 35-IFS & Automatic Locking Hubs 1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies. Remove retaining washers from wheel lug nut studs. See Fig. 1 . 2. Remove automatic locking hub assemblies. Remove snap ring and axle shaft spacer. Carefully pull plastic cam assembly from bearing adjusting nut. Remove 2 plastic thrust washers from adjusting nut. 3. Using magnet, remove locking key from spindle keyway. It may be necessary to rotate adjusting nut slightly to relieve pressure for locking key removal. Loosen adjusting nut with 2 3/8″ Hex Socket (T70T- 4252-B). 4. Tighten adjusting nut to 35 ft. lbs. (47 N.m) while turning hub back and forth to seat bearings. Spin hub and back off adjusting nut 90 degrees. Retighten adjusting nut to 16 INCH lbs. (1.8 N.m). 5. Align nearest hole in adjusting nut with center of spindle keyway slot. If necessary, advance nut to next lug. Install locking key in spindle keyway under adjusting nut. Install 2 thrust washers. Press plastic cam assembly onto adjusting nut while lining up key in fixed cam with spindle keyway. 6. Install axle shaft spacer. Clip snap ring onto end of spindle. Install automatic locking hub assembly with 3 legs of hub assembly inserted into 3 pockets of cam assembly. Install retaining washers and wheel assembly. Check hub and rotor assembly end play. End play should be 0-.003″ (0-.08 mm)

INITIAL VISUAL INSPECTION 1. Place the vehicle on a suitable lift. 2. Visually inspect the parking brake cable installation, parking brake caliper levers and general condition of the brakes. • Ensure the caliper levers are returning fully to their stops. • Confirm the cable routing is correct • Confirm that the cable is securely fixed at all abutment points and is free to move within the C-clip. • Where cable routing goes over the top of the stabilizer bar drop links, confirm that the stabilizer bar rubber deflector blocks are fitted, and that the brake cables have not been getting trapped behind the stabilizer bar drop links (look for tell-tale marks on the links and/or cables). NOTE: Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > Model > Service Information > Model Year > Workshop Manual > 2: Chassis — Section 206: Brake System NOTE: Refer to the correct section by reference to VIN and based on whether the vehicle is fitted with high performance brakes or not. 3. Rectify any obvious faults. 4. If no obvious faults are found or further guidance is needed to rectify faults, please proceed to the next stage of this bulletin. Refer to GTR Sections 206-05 (parking Brake and Actuation) and GTR Section 206-04 (Rear Disc Brake). 5. If any faults were found and rectified, it will be necessary to re-calibrate the parking brake after rectification. See ‘Parking Brake Calibration’ procedure. PREPARE THE PARKING BRAKE FOR DETAILED INSPECTION CAUTION: Jaguar IDS DVD 111 or later and Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis. 1. Install the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle. 2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle. 3. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration. 4. Select ‘YES’ when prompted ‘Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?’. 5. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task. 6. Select ‘Vehicle Configuration’ tab when the ‘Content Model’ is displayed. 7. Select ‘Electronic Parking Brake’. 8. Select ‘Release to Service Position’ (S-TYPE/XJ) or ‘Parking Brake Unjam Procedure’(XK) ‘. CAUTION: When using the special service tool, take care to operate in the ‘release’ direction. Actuator motor damage may result if the tool is operated in the ‘apply’ direction for any length of time). 9. If the parking brake will not release using IDS, use the special service tool to fully release the parking brake. Refer to GTR Section ‘Parking Brake Cable Tension Release’ (in Section 206-05) for details of using the special service tool.

Place a screwdriver against the tensioner pulley and pry it fully back in the direction of the arrow. 4. Temporarily tighten the tensioner pulley bolt. 5. Remove the timing belt. INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS >> A << TIMING BELT INSTALLATION CAUTION: If the timing belt is to be re-used, use chalk to mark (on its flat side) an arrow indicating the clockwise direction. CAUTION: After installing the timing belt, try to rotate the camshaft sprocket in the reverse direction. Recheck to be sure that the belt is fully tensioned and that each timing mark is in the proper position. 1. With the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt loosened, use a screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley as close to the engine mount as possible. Then temporarily tighten tensioner bolt. Install the timing belt in the following order, while making sure that the tension side of the belt is not loose. 1. Crankshaft sprocket 2. Water pump sprocket 3. Camshaft sprocket 4. Tensioner pulley >> B << TIMING BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT 1. Initially loosen the fixing bolt of the tensioner pulley fixed to the engine mount side by 1/4-1/2 turn, and use the force of the tensioner spring to apply tension to the belt. 2. Turn the crankshaft in the proper rotation direction (clockwise) for two rotations, and recheck to be sure that the timing marks on each sprocket are aligned.
