Engine Fan Runs Constantly If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the engine fan running constantly with code P2073(004) Electric fan for engine & AC, open circuit; this may be caused by the wiring harness between the ECU and the engine fan or the engine control unit fan end stage malfunctioning. To resolve, perform the below procedure. Note: Only vehicles as outlined in Service Campaign Bulletin No. 2003110006 are affected, see vehicle range shown. When performing Service Campaign Bulletin No. 2003110006 only, the engine ECU does not need to be exchanged. All engine ECUs exchanged under warranty for the above condition must be accompanied by the freeze frame data for the respective DTC. Claims submitted without this information will be debited back to the dealer Remedy: 1) Check wiring harness between engine ECU connector (pin 39) and engine fan connector (pin 4) for continuity. IF OK, proceed as follows. 2) Replace engine control unit (AR07.08-P-7008P) 3) Install adapter harness a. Remove lower underbody panel b. Disconnect engine wiring harness plug from engine fan C. Connect adapter wiring harness between fan connector and engine wiring harness. d. Secure adapter wiring harness with loom ties (Figure 1). e. Secure adapter wiring harness plug to engine fan (Figure 2)

NOTE: It is necessary to plug the hydraulic lines immediately with plugs 129 589 91 07 and the connections with plugs 129 589 00 91 11. Hydraulic cylinder remove on main bracket from inside of vehicle and lay down in soft top compartment (fig. 8) Hydraulic lines on hydraulic cylinder remove (fig. 8) NOTE: Plug the hydraulic lines immediately with plugs 129 589 00 91 07, the connections on the distributors and hydraulic cylinders with plugs 129 589 00 91 11. Screws screw out (fig. 8, item 8) and remove limit switch (item 9) from hydraulic cylinder NOTE: Check limit switches after completing vehicle and adjust, if required. Reinstall in opposite order (observe installation note) Check for proper function and leakage Special too Installation note When installing the hydraulic cylinder pay attention to the code numbers on hydraulic lines as well as the position of the lines in the B-pillar. 1. Connect a tachometer test probe to terminal IG of the check connector, Fig. 211 2. NOTE: Never let the tachometer lead touch ground as this could cause damage to the igniter and/or coil. Be sure to check that your tachometer is compatible with this ignition system. Consult the operating manual for your instrument. Service Check Connector 3. Idle Speed : 800 rpm Using a timing light, verify that the timing mark on the timing cover is aligned with the mark on the crankshaft pulley, Fig. 223 5. 1. Connect scan tool and monitor voltages of pedal sensor B37. Signal 1 (Accelerator pedal position: Idle speed):[0.2...0.5] V Signal 2 (Accelerator pedal position: Idle speed):[0.1...0.5] V Signal 1 (Accelerator pedal position:Kickdown):[4.3...4.8] V Signal 2 (Accelerator pedal position:Kickdown):[2.1...2.5] V 2. If voltages are out of specification verify correct reference voltage to sensor by measuring between pins 6 (Black/White wire) and pin 1 (Blue/Grey wire) on pedal sensor connector. Voltage needs to be between 4.75 and 5.25 volts. 3. Test throttle body voltages with scan tool. Potentiometer #2 signal voltage ignition on, accelerator pedal position CTP 0.3-0.9 VDC, WOT > CTP value Potentiometer #1 signal voltage Ignition on, accelerator pedal position CTP 4.0-4.6 VDC, WOT < CTP value. 4. Test mass air flow sensor voltage. Sensor signal voltage must start KOEO around 1 volt and go up as engine RPMs increase. This can also be seen under air sensor volume output, output value must go up not down.
