Carbon Fiber Seat Heater Installation Instructions

Installation Summary – Overview 1. Remove the existing front or rear seat covers. 2. Take note of whether the covers reattach by way of Velcro or Hog rings. 3. The Wire Connector with Purple & Black colored wires is seat the connector which will enable the use of both High & Low temperature functions. 4. Place the heating pads on the seat and at the Listing Reattachment Area mark the pad with a pen. You will be cutting 2 holes per pad. The holes should be equidistant. Example: If your listing length for Velcro or hog rings is 12′ in length then, make a hole at the 4″ & 8″ point. (The Seat Heaters may also be trimmed in length) 5. Now separate the protective adhesive backing at the backside of the heating pads and carefully align your pad and holes with the listing area and press the pads against the seat foam to secure the pad in place. 6. Reinstalling the Covers: Tip: For Backrest Covers, turn the cover inside-out and roll the cover back down the backrest, then reattach the plastic clips. For Seat Bottoms, start by attaching your Velcro or hog ring listings and then proceed to work outwards. Don’t work from front to back or from left to right – start from the middle then work outwards! 7. Switch Location: The diameter of the hole for the switch is 13/16″ or 21mm & the most common location for the switch is on the plastic trim located at the side of the seat. 8. Power Sources: The most common sources are the Accessory Panel, Power Seat, Cigarette Lighter/Accessory Outlet, and Steering Column. However, we recommend drawing power via a relayed key- start trigger sourced directly from the battery. This avoids onboard electronic system interference. ***Warning: If you are installing seat heaters into a vehicle which has a Passenger Side Occupancy Detection System for the Air Bags , You Must Observe The Following: When you remove the seat bottom seat covers, identify whether or not the seat is equipped with topside sensors. They are usually visible and resemble flat circular disks which are interconnected or rectangular in shape. If you are uncertain, you must contact a service department professional for confirmation. Toyota, Kia and Hyundai usually locate the sensors on top of the seat bottom core foam. Honda usually locates the sensors on the face of the seat backrest. In either case, for that particular seat (usually passenger sides only) use only the 2-temp wire connector with one of our seat heater pads. (Disconnect one of the other pads – you will not need it) *The dual temperature wire connector is attached to a black and a purple wire. This will allow dual temperature function with the use of only a single pad

ATB 14788-17665 (9601) 1 of 2 JAN 22, 1996 92-012 BODY ALL 1986 and later Applicable To Model File U nder Issu e D ate Bulletin N o. Service Bulletin Front Seat Belt Replacement Warranty Policy (Supersedes 92-012, dated March 13, 1992) Warranty policy for front seat belt replacement is to replace either the belt/retractor mechanism or the buckle when either does not work properly. Warranty covers the replacement of the failed half of a belt, not the entire assembly (see PARTS INFORMATION ). NOTE: For 1970 through 1985 models, seat belts are replaced as a complete assembly under a separate warranty policy. COMPONENT REPLACEMENT Front seat belts are made by several suppliers, and some are sold as individual components (two separate halves); they are not stocked as a complete set. Therefore, whenever you replace a belt, make sure the new belt half is the same type and from the same manufacturer as the original – otherwise, the belt may not buckle properly. To determine the manufacturer and type (or “model”) of the belt, look for the white tag on the original belt in the car. The tag is on the retractor side of the belt (visible at the lower attachment point), or on the belt if you pull the belt all the way out. From the tag, mark down the manufacturer’s name (either Nippon Seiko K.K. or Takata), the belt “model” number and the date of manufacture. If the tag is missing or illegible, look on the buckle component for the name Nippon Seiko K.K. or the stylized “T” mark () for Takata. NOTE: Some belts may have NSK Warner K.K. as the manufacturer’s name. Use Nippon Seiko K.K. belts as the replacement. Take the information to your Parts Department to order the proper replacement belt. NOTE: For more information on seat belts and seat belt related items read: -Twisted Seat Belt (ServiceNews, July ’85) -Seat Belt Testing and Repair (Service Bulletin 86-014, August ’86) -Automatic Seat Belt Troubleshooting (ServiceNews, May ’89) -Lap Belt Retracts Slowly (Service Bulletins 90-003, January ’90 and 90-012, April ’90) -Torn Seal on Seat Belt Track (Service Bulletin 91-004, March ’91) -Slow to Retract Seat Belt, Cleaning the Guide Ring (ServiceNews, April ’91) -Accord Shoulder Belt System Wire Colors (ServiceNews, May ’91) -Seat Belt Slow to Retract (Service Bulletin 91-030, December ’91) Refer to your Service Bulletin Index and the ServiceNews Index for model specific information. Most repairs do not require seat belt component replacement. PARTS INFORMATION For front seat belt replacement ordering information and availability, contact your parts center.

Remove driver’s power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Using test light, connect ground lead to harness connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Brown wire). Check for voltage by touching test light probe to harness connector terminals No. 9, 11 and 14 (all White/Pink wires). 3. If test light does not illuminate, check power and ground circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light illuminates, ground circuit and power circuit between battery and switch are okay. Check switch and motor. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH and POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. COMPONENT TESTS VENT WINDOW MOTOR 1. Remove “D” pillar trim panel. See “D” PILLAR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 2. Disconnect power vent window motor wire connector from body harness. 3. Using 2 jumper wires, connect one to a battery (+) source and the other to a good ground (-). 4. Connect the negative (-) jumper probe to one of the motor connector terminals. 5. Momentarily touch the positive (+) jumper probe to the other motor connector terminal. When the positive probe is connected, the motor should rotate in one direction to either move window open of closed. If window is all the way open or closed the motor will grunt and the crank system will flex when actuated in the one direction. Reverse jumper probes at the motor connector terminals and window should now move in the opposite position to verify full operation. If motor grunts and does not move with the motor connected in both directions, verify that crank system is not binding. POWER WINDOW MOTOR 1. Remove door trim panel and sound pad. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. 2. Disconnect power window motor wire connector from door harness. 3. Using 2 jumper wires, connect one to a battery (+) source and the other to a good ground (-). 4. Connect the negative (-) jumper probe to one of the motor connector terminals. POWER WINDOW SWITCH 1. Remove window switch from door trim panel. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check switch continuity. See appropriate WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY table. See Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 . 2. If the results are NOT OK, replace the drivers side window lift switch. 3. Test passenger door switch for continuity. 4. If the results are not OK, replace the switch. The power window master switch has a Auto-Down feature. The switch is equipped with 2 detent positions when actuating the power window OPEN. The first detent position allows the window to roll down and stop when the switch is released. The second detent position actuates an integral express roll down relay that rolls the window down after the switch is released. When the express down circuit senses stall current (window has reached end of down travel), the switch will turn current off to the motor. The AUTO feature can be cancelled by actuating the switch UP or DOWN while window is in motion. If the electronic circuit in the switch fails to detect a stall current, the auto down circuit will time out within 9 to 13 seconds.
