Verify proper belt tension and operation of the belt tensioner. 4. Check for power steering hose ground out conditions. 5. Check for good engine idle and correct engine RPM. 6. Important: When performing the “Bleeding Air from Power Steering System” procedure, it is important that the front of the vehicle is supported by the lower control arms. If the vehicle is not supported by the lower control arms, the procedure may cause the strut bushing to dislocate and cause new concern. for assembly purposes. If the assembly aid is installed, remove the assembly aid and install the rear transaxle mount. 7. With the vehicle on dry pavement, maneuver the vehicle in parking positions. If the steering vibrates/shudders or moans in this test, replace the power steering pressure hose and/or the harmonic balancer. Important: A defective harmonic balancer on the 1995 Buick Riviera can influence steering vibrations after power steering hose installation. Important: When installing the pressure hose on the 1995 Buick Riviera, pull down on the pressure hose at the rear of the engine or bend the hose to allow clearance between the hose and the front of the dash. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1995-1998 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System in the Power Steering section of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump assembly (4). 5. Remove the bolt/screws from the retaining clips (3). 6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear assembly (2). 7. Remove the power steering pressure hose assembly from the vehicle. 8. Install the power steering pressure hose assembly to the vehicle. 9. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump assembly (4). 10. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear assembly (2). Tighten Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft). 11. Install the bolt/screws to the retaining clips (3). Tighten Tighten the retaining clip bolt/screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in). 12. Install the power steering gear assembly heat shield (1). 13. Lower the vehicle. 14. Fill and bleed the power steering system using, J 43485. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 83-32-09, dated November, 1998. Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) and Return (Outlet) Hose Replacement Procedure For 1999-2001 Vehicles: 1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in the General Information section of the Service Manual. 2. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System in the Power Steering section of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the LH front wheel/tire assembly. 4. Remove the LH lower splash shield. 5. Remove the lower radiator air deflector (engine splash shield, if installed.

1. Locate and identify the three vacuum ports on the intake manifold. 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to page 11-113 of the 1998-00 Accord Service Manual. 5. Install the new vacuum hose kit using one of the following procedures 1. Remove and discard the cap from vacuum port A. 2. Connect the short vacuum hose to vacuum port A M/T WITH CRUISE CONTROL 2. Disconnect and discard the vacuum hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to vacuum port C. 3. Plug vacuum port C with the cap from the tube kit. 4. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. 1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the vehicle battery. 2. Unclip & remove the plastic trim from the front slam panel. (Fig. 1) 3. Unclip & remove the electrical harness plug from the MAS (Mass Air Sensor). (Fig. 2) 4. Unclip the MAS harness from the side of the air box. (Fig. 3) 5. Unclip & remove the intake hose from the MAS / air box lid. (Fig. 4) 6. Remove the vacuum hose from the inlet manifold (small rubber hose between the air box & manifold. (Fig. 5) 7. Fit the rubber blanking plug to the vacuum pipe located on the inlet manifold (ensure an air tight seal. (Fig. 6) 8. Unclip & remove the CFSV (carbon filter solenoid valve) from the air box lid. (Fig. 7) 9. Remove the 2 bolts securing the air box assembly & carefully lift out the assembly (Do not fully remove at this time). (Fig. 8&9) 10. From underneath the air box assembly unclip the blue electrical harness plug from the VSV (Vacuum solenoid valve). Now fully remove the air box assembly. (Fig.10) 11. Refit the plastic trim to the slam panel. 12. Remove the plastic ducting from between the fan cowling & ECU cover. (Fig.11&12) 13. Unclip & remove the intake hose from the throttle housing. (Fig.13) 14. Remove the bolt securing the relay unit to the chassis leg as shown. (Fig.14) 15. Secure the new mounting bracket to the relay mounting point located on the chassis leg using the M8 bolt & washer supplied. (Fig.15) 16. Clip the edge trim to the outside edge of the heat shield, cut away any excess trim. (Fig.16) 17. Attach the heat shield to the mounting bracket & secure using the M6 allen head bolts, nylock nuts & washers supplied. (Fig.17) 18. Unscrew & remove the bracket from the CFSV. (Fig.18) 19. Fit the new ‘L’ mounting bracket to the CFSV using the original screw. (Fig.19) 20. Secure the CFSV / mounting bracket to the side of the heat shield using the M5 bolt, nylock nut & washers supplied. (Fig.20) 21. Carefully unscrew & remove the MAS from the air box assembly. (Fig.21) 22. Stick the foam gasket to the hole located on the new molded intake pipe. Fit the MAS to the hole in the molded intake pipe & secure using the screws supplied. (Fig.22&23) 23. Assemble the new molded intake pipe using the silicone adaptor hose & rubber filter adaptor. (Fig.24) 24. Fit the new K&N filtercharger to the rubber filter adaptor & secure using the hose clamp supplied. (Fig.25) 25. Secure the new intake pipe assembly to the throttle housing using the stepped silicone hose & hose clips supplied (align the notch on the intake pipe with the notch on the throttle housing). (Fig.26) 26. Reconnect the electrical harness plug from the MAS. (Fig.27) 27. Secure the coolant hose & any excess harnesses using the plastic ties supplied. 28. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. 29. Carry out a final check of the alignment / fitment of the K&N induction system. Make any adjustments utilizing the slotted holes on the brackets & shield. Installation is now complete. (Fig.28

Inspect the power steering reservoir. Does one of the 3 ribs on the reservoir cover point toward the reservoir holder? Yes – This vehicle already has the revised power steering reservoir. Continue with normal troubleshooting procedures. No – Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Drain the power steering reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Raise the reservoir, and disconnect its return hose. •Drain the reservoir fluid into a suitable container. Take care not to spill any fluid on the body or other parts. Wipe off any spilled fluid immediately. 2. Drain the fluid from the power steering system: •Connect a suitable diameter drain hose to the disconnected return hose. •Hold the end of the drain hose in a suitable container. •Start the engine, and run it at idle while you turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. •When the fluid stops running out of the hose, shut off the engine. •Discard the used fluid. 3. Reinstall the return hose to the reservoir, then reattach the reservoir to its holder. Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 4. Bleed the air from the power steering system: •Start the engine. •With the engine at a fast idle, turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. 5. Check the condition of the fluid in the reservoir: •If the fluid looks contaminated, dark, or discolored, repeat steps 1 thru 5. •If the fluid is clear, go to step 6. 6. Place a suitable container under the vehicle to catch any fluid 7. Replace the power steering fluid reservoir: •Remove the reservoir from its holder. •Disconnect the return hose from the reservoir, and pour the fluid from the reservoir into a container. •Disconnect the outlet hose from the reservoir, and remove the reservoir. •Install a new reservoir in the reverse order of removal. •Fill the reservoir to its upper level line with new power steering fluid. 8. Start the engine, and run it at a fast idle. Turn the steering from lock-to-lock several times to bleed any air from the system. 9. Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir, and add more if needed. Do not fill the reservoir beyond its upper level line.

Equipment: Robinair R-134a Refrigerant Recovery/Recycling Machine (Robinair P/N: 342000) 2. Disconnect Negative Terminal of Battery. 3. Drain Coolant. CAUTION: Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot, as coolant and steam can be blown out under pressure. A. Remove the radiator cap. B. Loosen the radiator and engine drain plugs and drain the coolant. C. Close the drain plugs. Engine Drain Torque: 13 Nm (130 kgfcm, 9 ftlbf) HEATER PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT – AC002-05 February 14, 2005 Page 4 of 15 4. Disconnect Cooler Refrigerant Suction Hose No. 1. A. Install the SST to the piping clamp. SST: 09870-00015 HINT: Confirm the direction of the piping clamp claw and the SST using the illustration shown on the caution label. B. Push down the SST and release the clamp lock. NOTE: Be careful not to deform the tube when pushing the SST. C. Pull the SST slightly and push the release lever. Then remove the piping clamp with the SST. D. Remove the piping clamp from the SST. E. Disconnect the cooler refrigerant suction hose No. 1. NOTE: Disconnect the tube by hand only. Do not pry the tube apart. Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system. Disconnect the same way as cooler refrigerant suction hose No. 1. 6. Disconnect Heater Inlet Water Hose. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip and disconnect the heater inlet water hose. 7. Disconnect Heater Outlet Water Hose. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip and disconnect the heater outlet water hose. 8. Place Front Wheels Facing Straight Ahead. 9. Remove Horn Button Assembly. NOTE: If the airbag connector is disconnected with the ignition switch ON, DTCs will be recorded. Before working on SRS, please refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2005 model year Corolla Repair Manual: Supplemental Restraint System: Supplemental Restraint System: Precaution. A. The installation of this cold air intake does require mechanical skills. Removal of engine covers, air lines and removing several plastic plugs and screws that may be difficult. It is recommended that this system be installed by a professional mechanic. Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal before proceeding. Congratulations! Unhook three spring clamps from the top air box cleaner. Once the hooks have been removed, continue to detach the air box top from the lower air box cleaner. See fig. 15 for better illustration. Once the nut and bolt have been removed, continue to remove the entire hose clamp. Unplug the electrical harness clip from the mass air flow sensor as shown above. Disconnect the 4mm vacuum line located to the side of the air box cleaner. Unscrew the nut and bolt the hose clamp that secures the hose over the radiator. Loosen the two flange nuts on the engine cover in order to remove the cover. Disconnec the 6mm vacuum hose that will be reused later in the instructions. Remove the air filter panel once the top has been removed (B). Once the air filter panel is removed, there are three bolts that will be removed in order to detach the lower air box cleaner. Remove the entire lower air box cleaner from the engine compartment. Place the power bands over each end of the silicone elbow. press the short end of the silicone elbow over the throttle body. Once the silicone elbow has been aligned continue to semi-tighten power band over the throttle body end. The first vibra-mount is aligned to the pre-tapped hole located behind the head lamp. The first vibra-mount is now installed as shown above. Screw the second vibra-mount is aligned over the wheel well bracket. The second vibra-mount is now installed as shown above. The stock 6mm hose is removed from the fuel pressure regulator. Press the new 16″- 4mm vacuum hose over the fuel pressure regulator port. Place one .462 and a .412 power band over the silicone step hose. Press the 3 3/4″ side over the velocity stack as shown above. The Power box is now sitting flush over the vibra- mounts and a fender washer is placed over each vibra-mount. The last m6 flange nut is placed over the vibra- mount located behind the Power box. The 65mm bolt is tightened with an allen wrench. The assembled power box is lowered into the engine compartment. Align the mounting points on the bracket arms over the vibra-mounts. One 45mm bolt is removed from the top of the box. The bracket is place under the Power box and the 45mm bolt is aligned and screwed back in place as shown above. Remove the 65mm bolt from the velocity stack base. Align the bracket to the hole and insert the 65mm bolt back in place

Removal Both cylinder heads 1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information , refer to Section 100-02 . 2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00 . 3. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03 . 4. Remove the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold in this section. 5. Remove the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03 . 6. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05 7. Remove the LH valve cover. For additional information, refer to Valve Cover — LH in this section. 8. Remove the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to Valve Cover — RH in this section. 9. Disconnect the generator electrical connections. 10. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. 11. Remove the bolts and the generator and generator mounting bracket as an assembly. 12. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector. 13. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers. 14. Disconnect the water temperature indicator sender unit and the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connectors. 15. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube fitting. 16. Remove the upper heater coolant hose. 1. Squeeze the heater hose clamp. 2. Remove the heater coolant hose. 17. Remove the lower heater coolant hose and position aside. 1. Remove the bolt. 2. Squeeze the hose clamp. 3. Remove the heater coolant hose and position aside. 18. NOTE: The coolant hose will be removed with the thermostat housing. Move the coolant bypass hose clamp off the water pump outlet. 19. Remove the bolts, the thermostat housing and the bypass hose. 20. Remove the bolt and detach the wiring harness retainer. 21. Remove the bolts and position the accessory drive bracket aside.22. Detach the wiring harness retainer. 23. Remove the bolt and the oil level indicator tube. 24. Using the special tool, disconnect the LH spark plug wires from the spark plugs. 25. Disconnect the fuel pulse damper vacuum connector. 26. Remove the four bolts and position the fuel supply tube aside. 27. Remove the bolts and the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly.28. NOTE: Mark each of the roller followers to make sure it is installed in its original position during reassembly. Use the special tool to remove the roller followers. 29. Remove the lower radiator hose. 30. Remove the nut and position the A/C tube bracket aside. 31. Using the special tool, set the No. 1 piston at top dead center (TDC). RH cylinder head 32. Remove the RH fenderwell splash shield. 33. Remove the RH camshaft chain tensioner.

1. Remove complete exhaust system and exhaust manifold. 2. Remove oil pressure plug from rear of oil gallery and fit nipple, T piece and flare nipple then loosely fit oil supply line. If oil pressure sender unit is fitted at rear of block then relocate to end of T piece otherwise block off T piece with plug. 3. Remove oil drain on block for vacuum pump. Now fit banjo assembly with extended hose banjo bolt and connect vacuum pump oil return to banjo and fit oil drain hose for turbo with elbow to bottom. 4. Fit two whole stainless steel heatshield to firewall by using the two existing protruding screws and two nuts supplied. 5. Fit exhaust manifold with assembled turbo to engine using new gasket if required. Now connect turbo oil feed line and oil return line. When you have oil feed and return line situated so they don’t rub on anything, tighten both ends using a spanner and hose clamps respectively. Note: oil feed line should be facing around the back of the engine, then over rocker cover to turbo – keep away from heat source. 6. Remove engine breather from intake manifold and rocker cover, now block the outlet on the intake manifold with rubber cap plug and clamp. Attach the new breather hose loosely to rocker cover ready for attaching to new position. 7. Fit new airbox to front hold down bracket with original 6mm screws and connect to intake manifold with turbo hose and clamps supplied. Now connect air cleaner and turbo to air box using cast elbows, turbo hose and clamps. You may now connect engine breather to elbow underneath air box making sure that breather pipe does not kink as this will cause turbo to pass oil. Connect air cleaner to 4 ways casting with convoluted hose and 2 x 45° bends with steel spacers and hose clamps supplied

Removing brake pads NOTE: Minimum recommended pad thickness/replacement limit when installing new brake pads = 3.0 mm . Remove the retaining springs and locating pins for the brake calipers. Remove: -the securing spring (3) carefully so that it does not deform -the protective caps (1) from the two locating pins (2) -the locating pins, use hex socket 7 mm . Clean and check the brake pad mating surfaces in the brake caliper and caliper holder. Check piston dust boot. NOTE: If the dust boot is damaged dirt may have penetrated the cylinder. If this is the case the caliper must be replaced. Checking the brake disc Check brake disc friction surfaces. If the brake disc displays signs of out-of-true, check its lateral run out. Replace the brake disc if it displays signs of heavy wear, variable thickness or similar. NOTE: Minimum disc thickness/replacement limit = 18.0 mm .
