Install the drain plug. 5. Lower the vehicle. 6. Pressurize the fuel system. WARNING: It is important that your bi-fuel vehicle be correctly maintained by Ford bi-fuel trained personnel. If a concern occurs, it is important that correctly trained personnel diagnose the cause. If a concern relates to the fuel system, correct part replacement is imperative to keep your vehicle operating at normal performance. Bi-fuel components and gasoline specific components are not interchangeable. If your vehicle is not serviced in accordance with bi-fuel service procedures, damage can occur and your warranty may be invalidated. WARNING: Fuel supply lines are always pressurized. When servicing fuel related components, do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type. Flammable mixtures may be present and can ignite, resulting in personal injury. WARNING: The natural gas fuel system is always pressurized to 655 kPa (95 psi) downstream of the fuel pressure regulator and up to 24821 kPa (3,600 psi) upstream of the fuel pressure regulator. 1998-2000 FORD SVT CONTOUR/ MERCURY 2.5L V-6 COUGAR Installation Instructions For best performance and continued durability, please take note of the following key points: 1. Use only premium grade fuel 92 octane or higher (R+M/2). 2. The engine must have stock compression ratio. 3. If the engine has been modified in any way, check with Vortech prior to using this product. 4. Always listen for any sign of detonation (pinging) and discontinue hard use (no boost) until problem is resolved. 5. Perform an oil and filter change upon completion of this installation and prior to test driving your vehicle. Thereafter, always use a high grade SF rated engine oil or a high quality synthetic, and change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or less. Never attempt to extend the oil change interval beyond 3,000 miles, regardless of oil manufacturer’s claims as potential damage to the supercharger may result. 6. Before beginning installation, replace all spark plugs that are older than 1 year or 10,000 miles with original heat range plugs as specified by the manufacturer and reset timing to factory specifications (follow the procedures indicated within the factory repair manual and/or as indicated on the factory underhood emissions tag). Special Tool(s) Removal 1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. 2. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever. 3. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector. 4. Remove the manual control outer lever nut and manual control outer lever. 2004 Ford Truck Ranger 2WD V6-4.0L VIN E 5. Remove the screws and the digital TR sensor. Installation 1. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the screws. 2. CAUTION: Tightening one screw before tightening the other may cause the sensor to bind or become damaged. NOTE: The manual lever must be in the NEUTRAL position. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten screws in an alternating sequence. 3. SERVICE PROCEDURE To service, reduce/minimize moisture intrusion into the rear drum brake assemblies by applying Motorcraft® Silicone Gasket and Sealant to the brake backing plate . WARNING Do not breathe dust or use compressed air to blow dust from storage containers or friction components. Remove dust using government-approved techniques. Friction component dust may be a cancer and lung disease hazard. Exposure to potentially hazardous components may occur if dusts are created during repair of friction components, such as brake pads and clutch discs. Exposure may also cause irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract, and may cause allergic reactions and/or may lead to other chronic health effects. If irritation persists, seek medical attention or advice. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury. 1. Place vehicle on hoist and remove the rear wheels. 2. Remove the rear brake drums and replace the rear linings. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-02. 3. Inspect the rear brake assemblies for damaged, missing and/or improperly seated adjuster plug or parking brake cable . 4. Inspect and clean the lining contact area of the brake drum ; machine if necessary. 5. Reinstall the rear brake drums and adjust the lining to drum clearance per WSM, Section 206-02. 6. Thoroughly clean the backside of the rear drum brake backing plate to promote proper adhesion of sealant. Zoom Sized for Print 7.
