CUSTOMER INFORMATION : The information in this bulletin is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely maintain your car. These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers,” and you should not assume this bulletin applies to your car, or that your car has the condition described. To determine whether this information applies, contact an authorized Honda automobile dealer. ? 1996 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. – All Rights Reserved . ATB 14788-17665 (9601) 1 of 2 JAN 22, 1996 92-012 BODY ALL 1986 and later Applicable To Model File U nder Issu e D ate Bulletin N o. Service Bulletin Front Seat Belt Replacement Warranty Policy (Supersedes 92-012, dated March 13, 1992) Warranty policy for front seat belt replacement is to replace either the belt/retractor mechanism or the buckle when either does not work properly. Warranty covers the replacement of the failed half of a belt, not the entire assembly (see PARTS INFORMATION ). NOTE: For 1970 through 1985 models, seat belts are replaced as a complete assembly under a separate warranty policy. COMPONENT REPLACEMENT Front seat belts are made by several suppliers, and some are sold as individual components (two separate halves); they are not stocked as a complete set. Therefore, whenever you replace a belt, make sure the new belt half is the same type and from the same manufacturer as the original – otherwise, the belt may not buckle properly. To determine the manufacturer and type (or “model”) of the belt, look for the white tag on the original belt in the car. The tag is on the retractor side of the belt (visible at the lower attachment point), or on the belt if you pull the belt all the way out. From the tag, mark down the manufacturer’s name (either Nippon Seiko K.K. or Takata), the belt “model” number and the date of manufacture. If the tag is missing or illegible, look on the buckle component for the name Nippon Seiko K.K. or the stylized “T” mark () for Takata. NOTE: Some belts may have NSK Warner K.K. as the manufacturer’s name. Use Nippon Seiko K.K. belts as the replacement. Take the information to your Parts Department to order the proper replacement belt. NOTE: For more information on seat belts and seat belt related items read: -Twisted Seat Belt (ServiceNews, July ’85) -Seat Belt Testing and Repair (Service Bulletin 86-014, August ’86) -Automatic Seat Belt Troubleshooting (ServiceNews, May ’89) -Lap Belt Retracts Slowly (Service Bulletins 90-003, January ’90 and 90-012, April ’90) -Torn Seal on Seat Belt Track (Service Bulletin 91-004, March ’91) -Slow to Retract Seat Belt, Cleaning the Guide Ring (ServiceNews, April ’91) -Accord Shoulder Belt System Wire Colors (ServiceNews, May ’91) -Seat Belt Slow to Retract (Service Bulletin 91-030, December ’91) Refer to your Service Bulletin Index and the ServiceNews Index for model specific information. Most repairs do not require seat belt component replacement. PARTS INFORMATION For front seat belt replacement ordering information and availability, contact your parts center.

Toyota LandCruiser 4.2TD Timing belt replacement intervals

Timing belt replacement intervals The information relating to timing belt replacement intervals is additional to the main purpose of this CD, but is included to provide guidance to garages and for customer advice. Where possible the recommended intervals have been compiled from vehicle manufacturers’ information. In a few instances no recommendation has been made by the manufacturer and the decision to replace the belt must be made from the evidence of a thorough examination of the condition of the existing belt. Apart from the visible condition of the belt, which is explained fully later in this section, there are several other factors which must be considered when checking a timing belt: Is the belt an original or a replacement. 1. When was the belt last replaced and was it at the correct mileage. 2. Is the service history of the vehicle known. 3. Has the vehicle been operated under arduous conditions which might warrant a shorter replacement interval. 4. Is the general condition of other components in the camshaft drive, such as the tensioner, pulleys, and other ancillary components driven by the timing belt, typically the water pump, sound enough to ensure that the life of the replacement belt will not be affected. 5. If the condition of the existing belt appears good, can you be satisfied that the belt will not fail before the next check or service is due. 6. If the belt does fail, have you considered the consequences. If the engine is an INTERFERENCE type then considerable expensive damage may well be the result. 7. The cost of replacing a belt as part of a routine service could be as little as 5 to 10% of the repair cost following a belt failure. Make sure your customer is aware of the consequences. 8. If in doubt about the condition of the belt – RENEW it. 9. Removal Removal Remove timing belt cover [1]. 1. Turn crankshaft clockwise until timing marks aligned [2]. 2. Ensure timing marks aligned: 1KZ-T/TE: [3]. 3. 4. Remove: Automatic tensioner unit [6]. Tensioner pulley bolt [7]. Tensioner pulley [8]. Timing belt. 5. Installation Installation Check tensioner pulley for smooth operation [8]. Replace if necessary. 1. Remove dust cover. Check tensioner body for leakage or damage [6]. Check pushrod protrusion is 9,0-9,8 mm [9]. 2. Check pushrod does not move when pushed against a firm surface. If pushrod moves: Replace automatic tensioner unit. 3. Slowly compress pushrod into tensioner body until holes aligned. Use press. 4. Retain pushrod with 1,5 mm Allen key through hole in tensioner body [10]. Fit dust cover. 5. Ensure timing marks aligned [2]. 6. Ensure timing marks aligned: 1KZ-T/TE: [3]. 1HD-FT/1HD-FTE: [4]. 7. Fit timing belt in anti-clockwise direction, starting at lower sprocket. Ensure belt is taut between sprockets. 8. Fit tensioner pulley [8]. Tighten bolt to 34 Nm [7]. 9. Push tensioner pulley against belt. Install automatic tensioner unit [6]. Tighten bolts evenly to 13 Nm [5]. 10. Remove Allen key from tensioner body to release pushrod. 11. Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise. Ensure timing marks aligned [2] & [3] or [4]. 12. If not: Repeat installation and tensioning procedures. 13. Install components in reverse order of removal. 14. Reset timing belt replacement warning lamp as follows: 15. -Runner/Landcruiser: Remove grommet in speedometer housing. Depress switch using a thin screwdriver [11]. 16. Colorado: Remove speedometer housing. Remove screw indicated and insert in alternative location [12]. 17. Amazon: Lamp illuminates at 90,000 miles. Return vehicle to dealer.

2004 Buick LeSabre Shake/Vibration in Steering Wheel, Floor, Seat at Highway Speeds on Smooth Roads (Diagnose/Balance Tires/Wheels) Service Manual

Correction 1. Visually inspect the tires and the wheels. Inspect for evidence of the following conditions and correct as necessary: 2. Set the tire pressure to 30 psi (205 kPa) COLD. Subject: Shake/Vibration in Steering Wheel, Floor, Seat at Highway Speeds on Smooth Roads (Diagnose/Balance Tires/Wheels) Models: 1998-2005 Buick Park Avenue, Park Avenue Ultra 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre 1998-2004 Cadillac Seville (SLS, STS) 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille (DTS only) 2001-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora 2000-2005 Pontiac Bonneville (17″ Tires only) • Missing balance weights • Bent rim flange • Irregular tire wear • Incomplete bead seating • Tire irregularities • Mud/ice build-up in wheel • Stones in the tire tread © 2009 General Motors Corporation. All rights reserved 3. Road test the vehicle with the Electronic Vibration Analyzer (EVA) essential tool for a sufficient distance on a known, smooth road surface to duplicate the condition. Record the Hertz (Hz) reading as displayed by the EVA onto the tire data worksheet found at the end of this bulletin. This should be done after a tire break-in period of at least 10 miles (16 km) at 45 mph (72 km/h) or greater, in order to eliminate any possible tire flat-spotting. 4. If the road test indicates a shake/vibration still exists, check the imbalance of each tire/wheel assembly on a known, calibrated, off-car dynamic balancer. If any assembly calls for more than ¼ ounce on either rim flange, remove all balance weights and rebalance to as close to zero as possible. Important: Some GM dealers may have a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancer, or a Coats XR1850 Runout Balancer. Either will simplify Step 5 by not requiring dial indicators. If a Hunter GSP9700 machine is available, it may also be used to measure the radial force of the tire/wheel assembly. A guideline here is 18 lbs or less. 5. While on the balancer, measure wheel runout. If radial or lateral runout exceeds .020 in (0.50 mm) for aluminum wheels (.030 in (0.76 mm) for steel wheels), replace the wheel. 6. After confirming wheel balance and wheel runout, if any changes were made, road test the vehicle again. 7. If the smooth road shake/vibration still exists: Important: THE CONTROL ARMS SHOULD ONLY BE INSTALLED ON VEHICLES IF, AFTER THE TIRE AND WHEEL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED, THE VIBRATION CONDITION STILL EXISTS. 8. Replace both lower control arms on vehicles built prior to the following VIN breakpoints. On Aurora, Bonneville, DeVille, Park Avenue, Park Avenue Ultra and Seville models, a newly developed hydro-bushing lower control arm with improved damping characteristics has been released. This control arm is not used on the LeSabre. The new lower control arms may provide an incremental improvement to the vehicle ride. Customers who have become “tuned in” to the shake condition may still feel some shake in the vehicle after the new lower control arms are installed. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement in SI (refer to the Parts Information table below for SI document ID numbers) . Important: The completed worksheet must be attached to the hard copy of the repair order. • If a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force/Balancing machine is used, record radial force variation (RFV) on the worksheet at the end of this bulletin. If one or more of the tire/wheel assemblies read more than 18 lbs, match mount the tire to the wheel to get below 18 lbs. Readings of 12 lbs or less are preferable for sensitive customers. • If a Coats XR1850 Runout/Balancing Machine is used, record radial runout of the tire/wheel assemblies on the worksheet at the end of this bulletin. If one or more of the tire/wheel assemblies are more than .040, match mount the tire to the wheel to get below .040. Readings of .030 inch or less are preferable for sensitive customers. • If the RFV or runout cannot be reduced to an acceptable level, replace the affected tire(s) under the guidelines of the GM Tire Warranty. • The screened tire program is only available for the General branded tires used on the Buick LeSabre. Complete the tire request form at the end of this bulletin and fax to Continental/General. • Road test the vehicle to ensure the shake/vibration has been eliminated
