SUNROOF KIT PREPARATION 1. Verify that sunroof kit is complete and undamaged. 2. Bench test the sunroof to ensure proper operation. Close the glass fully before continuing. 3. Cover the vehicle interior to keep clean and prevent damage. SUNROOF INSTALLATION 4. Position the sunroof : Place the interior shade tray against the interior headliner and position to avoid any obstructions, allowing 4 inches clearance in front for the motor. Consider obstructions hidden by the headliner such as roof header, side rails and cross bows. NOTE: motor can be located above most consoles. Place the point of a scratch awl against the center inside front lip of the headliner ring (inside edge of the shade tray). Pierce the headliner, and make a slight dent in the roof panel that will be easily visible on top of the vehicle 5. Carefully remove the entire headliner board from the vehicle. 6. If applicable, remove anti-flutter roof bows from the inside of the roof. Do not remove, cut or modify any structural braces, headers or side rails. 7. Measure and mark a front-to-rear center line on the outside of the roof with a marking pencil. Draw a “reference mark” crossing the center line at the roof dent made in step 4. Measure and mark the front cut line 1¼ inches in front of this reference mark. 8. Align the template centerline to centerline on roof. Align front arrow on the template to front cut line mark. Tape template in place, and apply 2 inch wide masking tape around the outside of the cut line to protect the paint while cutting the roof panel. 9. Make a hole large enough to allow entry of the cutting tool, 1 to 3 inches inside the cut line. If necessary, enlarge the hole using hand held metal snips. Cut the sunroof opening with a suitable metal cutting tool. 10. Use a file to clean up any rough edges or burrs around the sunroof opening. 11. Test fit the sunroof. Trim the hole if required and retest. There should be approximately 1/8 inch (4 mm) clearance front to rear, and side to side. Once proper fit has been achieved, remove the masking tape [ peel inward, toward the opening ] and marking pencil lines from the roof. 12. Apply bare metal primer to the cut edge to prevent the metal from rusting. 13. Clean underside of main frame with wax/grease remover. Apply sealant to the inside lip of the main frame. Use nonacidic silicone, butyl, or the supplied foam tape. If using foam or butyl tape, fully overlap the ends in the rear center at a screw hole. Installing New Hinges 1) Use masking tape and tape the door to the car from the windshield across the mirror down to middle of door. 2) Unbolt and remove old hinges 3) Use some type of degreaser compound and clean areas around the where the old hinges were bolted to the car because part of this area will now be visible and if it is filthy it will show. 4) Place hinge up to the car and screw the bolts in but not tight. 5) Once all the bolts are in make sure your fender gaps are correct. 6) Once the door is adjusted get inside the car and have a second person hold a flash light up to the mirror area to make sure that there is no light coming through. 7) Some vehicles may require door sealing tape to be placed under the weather stripping so there is no wind noise and no water leak. 8) Once all door / fender gaps are adjusted correctly tighten bolts. 9) Install the shock onto the hinge along with the remaining hardware. (See Picture below for proper hinge assembly) Reassemble Front End: 1) Reinstall Fenders 2) Reinstall headlights 3) Reinstall front bumper Estimated Time: 1hr based on 2 people working on car. Preface B.1 Event Spoiler Operating Instructions To initialize, the following closed position must be defined. É To Close , tap the operating switch on the front side of the switch. The glass panel will move to the fully opened vent position. A second tap will fully close the roof. Additional Features Auto Close function allows the sunroof to close automatically when switching off the vehicles ignition. During the Auto Close function, simply depress the switch to cancel, this will return the glass panel to the position it was in prior to the start of the Auto Close function, depressing the switch again will reactivate the Auto Close. The Event Spoiler can be operated in two modes Continuous and One Touch™ . Continuous mode allows the Event Spoiler to be operated by holding down the operating switch in either direction. Releasing the switch will stop the glass panel immediately. One Touch™ mode allows the Event Spoiler to be operated without holding the operating switch down and can be canceled by any switch activation. É To Open , tap the operating switch on the backside of the switch marked with a white spot. The glass panel will go to a fully opened vent position. A second tap will fully open the roof. If desired, the sunshade can be closed in this position To complete the initalization process, the glass panel must be moved to the fully opened position using One Touch™ mode.

Grounding the Automobile A perfectly and beautifully wired automobile will nevertheless have bugs and problems if everything is not properly grounded. Do not go to the careful effort of installing a quality wire harness only to neglect proper grounding. Note: The Painless Wire Harness Kit includes no ground wire except the black wire from the two headlamp connectors. You must supply ground wire (14-16 gauge) for all circuits. 6.3.1 Connect a Ground Strap or Cable (2-gauge minimum) from the Negative Battery terminal to the automobile chassis (frame). 6.3.2 Connect a Ground Strap from the Engine to the chassis (even a 10-gauge wire is too small) . DO NOT RELY UPON THE MOTOR MOUNTS TO MAKE THIS CONNECTION . 6.3.3 Connect a Ground Strap from the Engine to the Body. 6.3.4 If you have a fiberglass body you should install a terminal block to ground all your Gauges and Accessories. Ground the Terminal Block with at least a 12-gauge wire to the chassis. 6.4 Terminal Installation and Making Connections Note: In the following steps you will be making the circuit connections. Before you start, you should carefully read Sections 7.0 through 10.0 , as appropriate, and continually refer to Section 10.0 , DOUBLE- CHECKING your routing and length calculations before cutting any wires and making connections. Give special attention to Turn Signal and Ignition Switch connections. These can be somewhat confusing. 6.4.1 Have all needed tools and connectors handy. 6.4.2 Select the correct size terminal for the wire and stud application. 6.4.3 Determine the correct wire length and cut the wire. Remember to allow enough slack in the harness and wires at places where movement could possibly occur, such as automobile body to frame, frame to engine, etc. Double-check your calculations. 6.4.4 Strip insulation away from wire. Strip only enough necessary for the type of terminal lug you are using. Note: In the following step, make sure that the terminal is crimped with the proper die in the crimping tool. An improper crimp will NOT make a good connection. 6.4.5 Crimp the terminal onto the wire. CAUTION: DO NOT OVER-CRIMP! 6.4.6 Connecting the harness throughout the groups is a redundant process. Make sure that each wire is FIRST properly routed and THEN attach. DO NOT ATTACH FIRST THEN ROUTE AFTERWARD. 6.4.7 When all wires are attached, tighten the mounts and ties to secure harness permanently. 6.5 Testing The System 6.5.1 Use a small (10 amp or less) battery charger to power up the vehicle for circuit testing. If there is a problem anywhere, the battery charger’s low amperage and internal circuit breaker will provide circuit protection. CAUTION: IF YOU HAVE NOT YET DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FROM THE AUTOMOBILE, DO SO NOW! DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY CHARGER WITH THE BATTERY CONNECTED. Connect the battery charger’s NEGATIVE output to the automobile chassis or engine block and its POSITIVE output to the automobile’s positive battery terminal. 6.5.2 INDIVIDUALLY turn on each light, ignition, wiper circuit, etc. and check for proper operation. Note: The turn signals will not flash properly if you do not have both the front and rear bulbs installed and connected. 6.5.3 When all circuits check out THEN attach the battery cable to the battery for vehicle operation

Chevrolet Aluminum Cylinder Heads INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before final installation of the cylinder heads, several things need to be checked to assure proper engine operation: 1. Piston to valve clearance – Minimum intake valve clearance should be .080″. Minimum exhaust valve clearance should be .100″. The point of minimum intake valve to piston clearance will usually occur somewhere between 5 and 15º ATDC during valve overlap. The point of minimum exhaust valve to piston clearance will usually occur 15º to 5º BTDC during valve overlap. Re-machining of the piston top eyebrows may be required with some pistons. 2. Proper lifter adjustment and rocker geometry – Check Lifter pre-load. Check clearance of push rod to guideplate. Rocker geometry should be checked making sure that the contact point of the roller remains properly on the valve tip and does not roll off the edge. Visual inspection of the rockers, valve springs, retainers, and pushrods should be made to ensure that none of these components come into improper contact with each other. If problems with valve train geometry occur, simple changes such as pushrod length may have to be made. OTHER ASSEMBLY TIPS When installing the sparkplugs and exhaust headers, be sure to use a high temperature anti-seize compound on the threads to reduce the possibility of thread damage in the future. Do not exceed a torque of 25 ft./lbs. on the intake manifold bolts and lubricate the bolt threads prior to assembly. If pushrod to cylinder head contact is a problem, loosen rocker studs and re-position guideplate as needed for clearance. INSTALLATION: Installation is the same as for original equipment cylinder heads. Consult service manual for specific procedures, if necessary. For 350 and smaller engines, use Fel-Pro head gasket #1003. #1003 has a flattened steel O-ring around each bore and will provide an excellent, long lasting seal. However, it will compress the aluminum and you must use #1003 for subsequent gasket changes to get a good seal. For 400 c.i.d. small blocks, use Fel-Pro #1014. YOU MUST DRILL “STEAM HOLES” IN CYLINDER HEADS FOR 400 ENGINES (see Figure 2). Be sure that the surface of the block and the surface of the head are thoroughly cleaned to remove any oily film before installation. Use alcohol or lacquer thinner on a lint-free rag to clean. Apply Loctite PST or suitable thread sealer to head bolt threads. Torque to 65 ft./lbs. in three steps (30-50-65) following the factory tightening sequence (see Figure 1). A re-torque is recommended after initial start-up and cool-down (allow 2-3 hours for adequate cooling)
