1998 – 2000 MODELS 1. Inspect main ground points (refer to SB99*04*S001 for more information). * P6 ground point-body [on the passenger side of engine compartment, between the battery and cruise control actuator (if equipped)]. (Figure Fig. 1 ) * P10 ground point-engine (at the alternator bracket) . (Figure Fig. 2 ) Isuzu: 1998 – 2000 Rodeo AFFECTED VEHICLES:1998 – 2000 Rodeo (UE)/Amigo (UA) models with 3.2L V6 engines NOTE: Please refer to the appropriate workshop manual for the correct diagnosing procedure and/or follow the service procedures outlined in this bulletin for the vehicle being serviced. NOTE: The 1998, 1999 or 2000 Rodeo/Amigo Electrical Troubleshooting Manual can assist in locating the vehicle ground distribution (i.e., ground contact points). * Perform a voltage drop test at the main ground points. * If the voltage drop test fails, then inspect and clean both the bolt and contact point. * Verify and correct idle settings (if needed) as described in the workshop manual. * If the repair procedure on this step solves the high idle condition, then return the vehicle to the customer. If the repair procedure on this step does not solve the high idle condition, then go to step 2 (16 pin Blue Connector). B. Remove P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt for ground contact inspection. * Inspect ground contact area for corrosion. * Inspect bolt and thread for damage or corrosion. * Clean the ground area and fastening bolt thoroughly with a wire brush. * Replace bolt if damaged or heavily corroded. C. Install the P-6/P-10 ground terminal and bolt (tighten using hand tools only). * Torque the P-6/P-10 ground terminal bolt to (14 N.m) 10 lb.ft. 1998 – 1999 MODELS ONLY 2. Inspect the 16 pin blue connector, located under the power steering fluid reservoir for corrosion, bent, or damaged pins (specifically for the Throttle Position Sensor). (Figure Fig. 3 )

SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Lower the window completely, and measure the amount of time it takes for the glass to travel from the fully open to fully closed position. a. If the time is less then six (6) seconds then DO NOT perform this TSB. b. If the time required to move the glass from the fully open to fully closed position is greater than six (6) seconds, continue with this TSB. 2. Inspect the glass runs to make sure they are not wavy and causing additional resistance to the glass. 3. Remove the door panel following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05, access the glass clamps through the openings in the door sheet metal. (Figure 1) 4. Loosen the glass clamps (using a 1/4″ drive T-30 Torx socket) 5. After loosening the glass clamps, the glass should be pushed up into the header, by hand, then shifted rearward, until it stops against the rear window run seal, and then lowered back into the clamps. (Figure 2)

INITIAL VISUAL INSPECTION 1. Place the vehicle on a suitable lift. 2. Visually inspect the parking brake cable installation, parking brake caliper levers and general condition of the brakes. • Ensure the caliper levers are returning fully to their stops. • Confirm the cable routing is correct • Confirm that the cable is securely fixed at all abutment points and is free to move within the C-clip. • Where cable routing goes over the top of the stabilizer bar drop links, confirm that the stabilizer bar rubber deflector blocks are fitted, and that the brake cables have not been getting trapped behind the stabilizer bar drop links (look for tell-tale marks on the links and/or cables). NOTE: Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > Model > Service Information > Model Year > Workshop Manual > 2: Chassis — Section 206: Brake System NOTE: Refer to the correct section by reference to VIN and based on whether the vehicle is fitted with high performance brakes or not. 3. Rectify any obvious faults. 4. If no obvious faults are found or further guidance is needed to rectify faults, please proceed to the next stage of this bulletin. Refer to GTR Sections 206-05 (parking Brake and Actuation) and GTR Section 206-04 (Rear Disc Brake). 5. If any faults were found and rectified, it will be necessary to re-calibrate the parking brake after rectification. See ‘Parking Brake Calibration’ procedure. PREPARE THE PARKING BRAKE FOR DETAILED INSPECTION CAUTION: Jaguar IDS DVD 111 or later and Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis. 1. Install the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle. 2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle. 3. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration. 4. Select ‘YES’ when prompted ‘Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?’. 5. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task. 6. Select ‘Vehicle Configuration’ tab when the ‘Content Model’ is displayed. 7. Select ‘Electronic Parking Brake’. 8. Select ‘Release to Service Position’ (S-TYPE/XJ) or ‘Parking Brake Unjam Procedure’(XK) ‘. CAUTION: When using the special service tool, take care to operate in the ‘release’ direction. Actuator motor damage may result if the tool is operated in the ‘apply’ direction for any length of time). 9. If the parking brake will not release using IDS, use the special service tool to fully release the parking brake.
